Around this time of year… Last year I moved from McKenzie Ave. I lived on the corner of 8th& McKenzie. I lived there off and on for 5 years. It was my dads house. First of all I have to say that I never really cared for the owners or the young guys that worked behind the cash register. I don’t know how many times i’d be standing in line to buy my burrito & Calypso, listening to one of these young men hit on a usual costumer. Everyones totally cool with it except for me and my cold burrito.(at the time $ 3.75 out the door!) Its not like im jealous or anything. I just had a really huge addiction to their burritos. It was insane and I gained 25lbs! Those guys were pretty nice though. They’d let me «slide» or pay them back later when my dumbass would forget my money at home :/ Its not like these burritos were even special or anything. Or good. I lived on the East side of Fresno. I had pretty much the cream of the burrito crop. Yet I still drooled for this place. Big, greasy burrito. My usual was a buche burrito with everything. The burrito consisted of Buche, rice, beans, cilantro, onions, super hot(& sometimes old) salsa. Anything else is extra. .50 extra. This buche burrito was my everything. I probably ate one of these about 2 – 3 times a week. It really must have been a mental thing. The tortas were really good too. The market gets their torta bread from the bakery around the corner on Tulare Ave. La Estrella. Pretty yum. Anyway, the torta consisted of meat, lettuce, tomato, onions, cilantro, avocado, sourcream, & salsa. The same price as the burrito. The people who work the meat counter are very nice. I’m sure its still the same people. They’ve been working there for years. Other than the«hot food» I would not come back. It just a regular tiny market in the middle of a neighborhood. Kinda reminds me of Frisco. But not.
