I was on a flight destined for Fresno and decided I needed a haircut. I figured I could find some place close to my hotel, which was across the street from the airport. Walking out through security at the airport I noticed this guy and was a little surprised to see a barber in an airport. According to the barber(Nicholas) there are only 4 airport barbers left in the country! Apparently back in the day(he’s been cutting hair at the airport for over 40 years) every airport had a barber. Anyway, I walked from my hotel back to the airport and found him sleeping outside his shop in a chair near the baggage claim. I felt bad waking him up because he looked so peaceful, but decided I really needed to get my haircut. He is a nice guy and does an excellent job! The straight razor and hot shaving cream to the neck line is a glorious thing. I will plan on getting my haircut from Nicholas whenever I make it to Fresno from now on.

Nick really knows what he’s doing! I can’t remember the last time I had a haircut of such high quality. I normally frequent more pricey salons to receive edgier cuts, but really just wanted something that looked«clean» and«smart» this time around. Seriously, my hair literally FELTDIFFERENT to the touch after being cut by Nick as compared with most places(even high-end places) I’ve been to. Visiting his shop is an experience in itself. You’re greeted by a wall of celebrity visitor photos the moment you walk in(i.e, Mr. T, Bill Crosby, Christopher Reeves); some who have had their hair cut personally by Nick. If you want an Oscar-worthy cut for $ 14, The Fresno Yosemite International Airport is where to find it =) ! Oh, and don’t forget to have him validate your ticket so parking is free.

What a great old school hidden gem at the airport. Great haircut for a reasonable cost. $ 14 for a high quality cut. Good for appointments. Uses a straight razor on the neck. I made an appointment with Nick because the last time I came by he had 2 men in suits waiting their turn. He takes his time so you don’t really want to be in that kind of a line. You know a master barber when you get a haircut from one. Only negative is location. I work across the street and walked. I would hate to drive there and park at the airport. Cash only.

Call me weird but I’ve always wanted to get a haircut at this place! Today I finally made it. Nicholas is located inside the Airport, this is just so cool. A totally old school barber shop complete with walls lined with celeb photos and kitchy artifacts. Above and beyond the perfect surroundings this man is a perfectionist… none of that 7 minute supercut scalp job, no way… this guy takes his time using a myriad of somewhat ancient but very effective tools of the trade… many different clippers, scissors even shaves the back of the neck with warm shaving cream and an straight blade. Without doubt the best haircut I’ve ever had… as an added bonus if he stamps your parking ticket you save $ 6 on parking! Now have to admit this is not the most convenient location for me but really will try my best to make this my regular treat.
