A great discovery for adventuresome rural-types like me! I like all kinds of cuisine, and the pork belly sandwich was tasty with a nice crunch too. Kimchi fries make it a really big meal for about 12 bucks. Good service… very handy to Yonge & Dundas.

That turkey rice soup is soul soothing. Long week at work. I really wanted to just go home and crawl into bed. But around noon a desire for something comforting drove me and my Mazda right here. I could have eaten two bowls. They have a special-soup and a three inch sandwich. Perfect amount of food. Love that customers are encouraged to go behind the counter to get drinks as well as napkins and condiments. But that soup…

Not gonna lie, every time I walk in here, I feel like an outsider. Not that the lady behind the register is rude or anything, but they treat their regulars very well, and I’m not a regular. This was my third visit, and I had to try something different. My first visit, I got the steak and cheese. It was so good, I had to get it the next visit. Except on the next visit, it wasn’t as good for some reason. The meat was delish. Just something was off. Anyway, I went with the ABC burger I believe its called. I used to work for a burger joint, so for the past 11 years, I almost never ate burgers. Not because their burgers weren’t any good. As a matter of fact, their burgers were what a hamburger is all about. I was just so beefed out. But I’ve been coming back around lately. So it is with that background that I tell you, this was a good burger. Everything about it(except the onions, I only like grilled onions) was perfect. Sometimes a burger doesn’t have enough of one thing, or too much of another. I left full and satisfied. And without a goodbye, or thank you. Because I’m an outsider

Customer service is out of this world! By far the nicest people I’ve met in a while. Their sandwiches are made with fresh ingredients. I got a roasted turkey, it was pretty good. I wish that it could be seasoned with something, but I appreciate the freshness. I will be back to try more sandwiches. Oh and the bacon is so flavorful, so freaking good

Wanted to try something new in the Fresno area, so I found this place on Unilocal. After seeing the pictures in the reviews of the BLT sandwich I had to have one. I went in there assuming it would be a average BLT, something I could make at home. After having one I can honestly say this had to be the best BLT I ever had. Has tons of flavor. It was so good I almost drove back to get another one. I will for sure be going back to get another REALSOON.

Excellent Breakfast this is not my first time here… consistent is one word to describe this place! Always consistently delicious! The lunches are also outstanding. They may not be the most overly friendly, but who cares when the food is so Yummy! You’re more than welcome to fill your own cup of coffee or soda! You might even have a costumer do it for you… that’s how they roll here lol check this place out! I promise you won’t regret it

Do not go there if you have children!!! The food was good but the service was disgusting! The cashier told me that they don’t have high hairs because they don’t want children to stay because they are too messy! I will never go there again!

The best steak and cheese sandwich! Super friendly family owned place. The owner himself always comes out to chat with the customers. Love love love this place.

Stopped in today for the first time in years. I had forgotten how tasty it was even though I drive by it often. I had the BLT plus avocado and loved every bite. The owner is hands on and he even brought the lunch crowd out free desserts to try(he said it was something his mom made… A delicious custard with fresh berries). When I went up to the counter for a drink refill he told me to come around and help myself,“that’s how it’s done here”. It has a goofy décor of big fish on the wall and a couple of plastic poinsettias but that’s part of the charm. I’m already planning what to try on my next visit.

Stumbled across this find on my way to another breakfast house… I believe in fate ;-) Owner works the grill I had his name sake omelette(without the ham) great choice! Don & the lady friend(boss lady?) did a superb service. Heads up the boss lady is sassy as sin — love that attitude. Don’t be mislead by the outwardly appearance of this spot as its in need of a little facelift but hey over 30+ years @ the same location I think that’s perfectly authentic & understandable. So the curb appeal could use a shot of Botox maybe a nip here or a tuck there… but where it counts in the back kitchen —this place rocks!!!

Awesome place. All sandwiches are can’t miss. Homemade soups — two daily and one du jour. Fresh ROASTED turkey, not processed slices. Great rolls, too!

Turkey & bacon sandwich was awesome! It was turkey breast roasted that day, not processed turkey meat. The people working there were super friendly! We’ll go back the next time we’re in Fresno to try out some of their other menu items!

This is a hidden gem. I always get their turkey sandwich because they use real turkey(like what you have for thanksgiving). Everything is super fresh and delicious! I’ve also had their hamburger which is surprisingly very good! They also have amazing homemade soups! During the fall/winter months I always get the soup and small sandwich combo. If you haven’t been, you’re missing out! This is on my top 5 list for lunch in Fresno which includes Piemontes, Geno’s and Sam’s Deli.

I can’t believe I’ve never tried this place! I was surprised with how super friendly the owners were — talked me through the menu and made some suggestions(Jake’s Catch, which was a tasty sounding fish sandwich, and a burger with mushrooms and mozzarella that sounded AMAZING but way too much food for me today!). I wound up getting their most popular sandwich, a small turkey breast with everything. I was floored when I got back to work and realized this was REAL turkey breast! No deli weirdness here! So much yummier and more filling! Definitely going to be stopping in here on a regular basis! PS. Get a cookie! :)

old school spot owned by a guy who loves racing, fishing, and flying. turkey sandwich was sub par. bread was too light and crumbly. not chewy at all. turkey was dry. italian sausage sandwich was better. cookies were pretty good.

I found this little sandwich shop through Unilocal, and I’m delighted to tell other Unilocalers that this is a really nice spot to have lunch, meet friends, and spend some enjoyable time. It’s in the northeast strip mall at Fresno and Ashlan Sts. which I’m assuming the regulars know well. Took me a bit of looking to find it for this first time. Wide menu with hot and cold sandwiches. Salads and other offerings like chicken strips and soups. I saw a variety of items being delivered to the tables while I was here with my friends for over 2 hours. Yes, we like to eat, but we love even more to talk. I really like the different sizes of drinks, not just one giant cup. Another plus is that the Sandwich Works makes its own lemonade served over crushed ice. Wonderful. Lots of tables available for your meal, yet I noticed many customers had called in their order and picked up their food. Order at the counter and the staff will deliver to your table if you should decide to sit and stay awhile.

If you don’t know about this place, you should! This Mom/Pop sandwich shop has been making unbelievable in Fresno for years. I’ve never had bad food here. My recommendation is the California Club.

Excellente sandwiches. Very homemade quality to everything, which is a positive in my book. Fresh everything and they have great salads too. Not on the cheap side if you’re hungry, but well worth it. Folks who work there are super nice and you can tell when you walk in and there’s a line snaking around the tables in the front that these are all regular customers.
