I’ve been coming to this place since it was Au Lac. I’m not vegan, but it’s one of my favorite restaurants in town. The vegetarian chicken tastes better than real chicken. I always get lemongrass chicken, which is now No. 6. Tran is the man.

I really love this place! I don’t understand the bad rap the owner gets… He’s probably one of the nicest dudes I’ve ever met. He is very generous and even gave me one of the Buddhist vegan books free of charge and it made my day! Yes, it’s a little expensive, but these people have to make a living. I’ve never had a bad experience here. The inside of the restaurant is very minimalist which I actually enjoy, they have great books to skim through while you wait for your food, and the Thai tea is on point! For the user that said there is obviously cream in the tea and thus the tea is not vegan — have you heard of vegan creamer? There is coconut cream, soy cream, etc. and I am sure they use cream of one of those varieties. Most of the dishes come with a side of Lays which is pretty cool. My favorite is the #11 which is a very bountiful plate of chow mein with vegan protein, bok choy I believe, and noodles in a pretty tasty sauce. This is a great restaurant to take nonvegans to in order to show them, hey, we eat good and we eat a lot and this is hardly a restrictive lifestyle! I eat here whenever I have some extra cash :) My only complaint is they close down from about 2:30 — 5:00PM and randomly shut down the store for weeks at a time, but eh, other than that, awesome place and very convenient since it’s so close to school!

The food at the loving hut is pretty average, but this being the only 100% vegan restaurant in Fresno, I go there all the time. The employees are friendly, but do not make an effort to communicate with you. This is not necessarily a bad thing, considering I hate small talk, but it’s all what you like in employees. The outside of the building is very cute, but the inside is a bit dinky. Overall, I think this restaurant is good, but it’s not the greatest food I’ve ever had.

The first time I ever had the loving hut was actually in Prague. So of course when I moved I felt like I needed to revisit my Loving Hut days in Prague through the Fresno location. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Did I love it? No. I didn’t feel like I really had a fulfilling meal here. I tried the Phở and I just felt it was too bland. Likely won’t drive so far(I drove from Hanford, CA I was in Fresno for the day for a meeting) so mediocre food unless you’re really craving for something in particular from here I guess.

Love the Loving Hut! Great vegan and vegetarian options! I wish they had longer hours but what can you do! It’s pretty cheap and fun to share a couple plates to try new things. Definitely worth a try!

Best vegan spot in the entire valley! They remembered my name on the second visit! You can literally taste the love energy in every dish. Just a fantastic spot and one of a kind gem in the valley. Nothing this delectable and delightful for miles!!!

It’s OKAY. Everyone talked this place up so much I thought it would be great! I had very high expectations. I walked in and it was not at all like I thought it would be. It looked very rundown, the ceiling fans were falling out of the ceiling. Anyway, I ordered the dharma. It had cooked carrots, potatoes, tempeh, rice and curry. It was supposed to be spicy but they just put red pepper flakes on it. It was luke warm and I could probably make a way better version of it at home. I also got an iced tea. It was basically iced water. I think they had put iced water in a cup and then the tea bag, as a result the tea did not steep. I was very dissapointed. I wouldn’t recommend this place to ANYONE. I wouldn’t even tell my worst enemy to go here. Gross.

My first time coming here did not disappoint. I ordered the chow mein and it tasted better than non vegan chow mein I’ve had in the past. I also got a sandwich and I was surprised at how tasty it was. The meat substitute was delicious and it was overall a good meal. The customer service wasn’t bad but it could’ve been better and the drinks were pretty expensive for their small size. Other than that this place was great.

4 stars for the food: I ordered the chow mein in which the bok chow was very tender and fresh. 1 star for the cleanliness and comfort factor of the restaurant: it was cold(November) and all of the doors were open and yet the kitchen smoke hung in the air, greasy and intense.

This restaurant was not helpful to attending to dietary restrictions and lacks customer service. I have been to other vegan restaurants all over California and never have I been mistreated as such in a restaurant like The Loving Hut. First, I am from Orange County coming out to Fresno to visit. Second, I am allergy-free and gluten-free. I have a severe food allergic disorder in which I am allergic to the following categories: Peanuts Tree nuts Eggs Wheat Dairy Shellfish Gluten Avocado Coconut Seeds I wanted to try this vegan restaurant because of the good reviews that I have seen on Unilocal and the pictures looked decent enough to fill my curiosity. However, this was not what I expected at all. Upon walking into the restaurant for lunch on a weekday, my significant other and I saw that there was no line and walked up to the register. However, the lady at the register told us to wait because there were 2 other people seated and waiting to order before us. It was very confusing for everyone because when we had just walked up ready to make our order and it wasn’t taken right away because they had to be served first. After their orders were taken, I handed the worker the list of the foods that I was allergic to. I asked if 3 items on their menu was safe had any of those foods on my list in their meals. The worker kindly asked us to wait and asked the cook standing right behind her what kind of meal I could have. The cook immediately said«So you are allergic to all these foods? Why don’t you cook at home if you are so allergic.» I replied«I don’t live here.» After that we were finished with our order the cook said that he could stir fry vegetables and rice for me only. The food tasted bland and was served on glass plates and sticky forks. The Thai tea was also served in a red cup and not a typical boba tea cup. I’m sure this restaurant was said to be Vegan but isn’t there Dairy in Thai iced tea? And why are they serving dairy in their restaurant? Overall, the service was terrible and was inconsiderate to their customer’s needs. The food tasted bland and was not consistent throughout.

I juts want to say Im looking for the Love in all this, LOVE? LOVE? its not around here… Its funny though that the name of this chain vegan restaurant is known as the«Loving Hut» and my initial impression of this vegan spot would be resonating with a meditation music, with smiles and love all around and food that would be as impressive as its reviews, but when I was here, the only thing I felt was grumpiness of an Asian man and a food that had lack of love and somewhat an experience worse than that dodgy phở restaurant in south of Fresno, because there was no service whatsoever, even water was self service. I can’t stop but ask, is this the monster that I would resort to after a month of being vegan? A vegan monster that is grumpy and has little love. The vegan food here is mainly fusion with a full concentration on Asian inspired dishes such as phở, curries, stir fry and etc. They also have some western favorites such as vegan Philly cheese steak, sandwiches and pasta dishes. They also offer vegan desserts such as coconut pandan cream cake and chocolate cake. My favorite was the vegan coconut cream pandan cake for $ 3. It was moist and it tasted sinfully good. It was sweet, but at a perfect balance. While the cream was as creamy as whip cream but was more dense. The cake itself was very tall and had an aromatic flavor from the pandan, which is a leaf extract normally used by Thai and Malaysians. Its also known as screw pine leaf. I tried the The Guru and The Dharma both at $ 6.99 each. Kinda pricey for just vegetables if you think of it, but I can’t complain their price point since, it is quality products that they serve here. The food itself taste great, its just was not amazing in comparison to other vegan food I’ve had in the past, the dharma was basically a watery curry version of the Japanese curry. It was mildly spicy. The dish was made up of roughly chopped up carrots and potatoes cooked in the curry, with a serving of a vegan made protein, that looked like sausage, but tasted almost neutral and was quite bouncy and firm, almost like a firm tofu in texture. While the guru basically was a vegan version of a teriyaki plate made with vegan protein in a teriyaki sauce served with rice and assorted steam vegetable. The soy protein itself tasted somewhat yeasty and was firm like tofu, its definitely an acquired taste. It was actually quite interesting to taste something so peculiar. Yes while Im writing this I am actually under the challenge of being vegan for a month. Yet Im not foreign to vegan food, Ive had them way before succumbing to having this eccentric and wholesome diet, I should aforementioned that I am from Malaysia, and where I come from, we actually have numerous Chinese restaurants and street vendors that makes imitation meat and vegetarian dishes that taste out of this world, so just maybe my standards are high to begin with. I felt that as the only specified vegan restaurant in Fresno, its actually quite good. but should another vegan restaurant pop open this place needs to be more competitive by having a table service, and actually use glasses instead of plastic cups for water.

I finally caught this place open to try it, had the Phở and cheese cake, this is the first time I tried Phở but really like noodles in other Asian dishes and just like I expected, really liked it. The cheese cake was a bit frozen but good. Plan on trying other dishes in the future that prior reviewer’s recommend

Found this place on Unilocal while searching for good eats safe for my daughter with a severe dairy allergy. Angelic Chow Fun and Western Paradise were outstanding! Thai Tea was very yummy too. My daughter never gets to eat dessert in restaurants because they are always laden with buttery or creamy goodness. We were looking forward to eating two of the desserts Loving Hut had available yesterday… the cheesecake and a blue colored coconut cake. Cheesecake was very good except for a slight freezer or refrigerator taste. The blue cake, however, was extremely hard/stale and tasted/smelled of fridge. We had taken the desserts to go and were soooooo disappointed when the fork could barely cut into the cake… even the frosting was not easily cut with our fork. All in all, 4 stars because the dinner was amazing and the staff was beyond friendly and helpful! He even offered to show me how to cook the dairy free dishes for my daughter because she loved them so much! We will be back, however, we will stick with main dishes and beverages.

The food is good and I love to support this place, as it is the only all vegan restaurant in Fresno. The few problems that I see are #1 — No a/c — It gets very hot inside during the summer #2 — Outside seating — Someone stole their tables and chairs outside months ago and they now only have 2 tables available outside. It’s so hot inside, they really need more outside seating.

This place is very cute and tasty. There’s a lot of propaganda for those of us who are meat eaters, but it’s definitely easier to become one of you start here. Orders are made at the register and then you pick a spot and they bring your food out to you if you’re eating in. Their most popular dishes are on the wall with pictures. I tried the Thai tea and was pleasantly surprised. I also had the curry fried rice, teriyaki dish and a stir fry mix. You can choose between brown or white rice. If you’re sitting in, they have a water dispenser for water where you will also find chop sticks and various other eating utensils. The food is very good, and definitely full of flavor! I enjoyed the curry rice and didn’t feel like it was too strong. The teriyaki dish had a stronger flavor, but with the rice, it’s balanced out. I absolutely loved the stir fry with the mixed vegetables. The flavor was beyond good! I must say however, that my favorite part of this whole experience was the dessert! I got a slice of chocolate cake and it was so good I wanted more!!! I would definitely recommend that everyone try a vegan place once in their lives. You may be surprised.

Do you like cabbage? If you do, you’ll love this place! If I were only rating this place on their food(like I generally prefer to), it would be 100% 5 stars. However, I’ll just put it out there first, this place is hot and stuffy and not comfortable to be in, which can be a real downer in Fresno heat. Onto the good! My husband ordered a number 14 and he quite liked it(honestly, though, its majority cabbage haha). I got the number 18, which is phở, and man did that hit the spot, a bit better than normal phở I might add. They put hoisin sauce in it for you already, but you can add sriracha as you see fit. There were mushrooms, faux beef and chicken to garnish it, and the normal rice noodles. Honestly, the most flavorful broth I’ve had in a long time, and that was probably my favorite aspect. We also had Thai tea to drink, which tastes a lot more tea-y and less creamy(presumably because they’re putting vegan milk in it) and the vegan cheesecake for dessert. It comes frozen(which I personally like better) and it tasted better than normal cheesecake, which I don’t normally like. Last but not least, the guy behind the counter had some helpful suggestions and was very quick to help us. I’d definitely recommend this place, even if they have some strange hours, especially because every plate is $ 6.95(probably because its mostly cabbage haha).
