Whoever complains about Watts Family Grill is a fool. It’s the absolute best barbecue food I’ve ever tasted, even beyond Player’s in Madera, which I thought was the best at the time. Regardless of service, décor, or whatever makes all you Captain Amazing one star reviewers feel special, to me, food quality is the key and Watts blows everything else out the door. The food is insane, and at a very good price. You can whine all you like about everything else, but in my experience, I felt like a king as soon as their pulled pork touched my taste buds. Oh, and the service was good too, haters.

Poor customer service when trying to place a phone order. She lacked verbal communication skills, professionalism and knowledge of their menu.

Worst BBQ experience ever and I know BBQ.(Just happened to be traveling through Fresno.) After paying for sandwiches and waiting 20 minutes, a waitress came to the table and said they were out of beef. She asked if we wanted chicken. I said no thanks. Unfortunately, my kids did have the chicken and ended up with food poisoning. Slowest service ever. Food comes out sporadically. Beans on the table, then 10 minutes later macaroni, then finally a straw for watered down sweet tea, etc. Felt like a sloth was serving everything. A Zootopia nightmare. I won’t be back!

Real BBQ here! It’s a must try! I have had my share of BBQ but watts beats it all. Ribs are my favorite.

This was our first time eating Watt’s BBQ and I have to say, they didn’t disappoint. We had $ 50 in gift certificates purchased from a Living Social or Group on deal. This should’ve been plenty to feed 3 of us but I wasn’t sure so we ordered some extra to be safe. We ordered the Riot platter which feeds 3 – 4 and the portions ended up being generous. It included chicken, ribs, hot links and trip tip. We selected of the 2 sides that came with it for($ 69.99) BBQ beans and potato salad. We added a large side of Mac & cheese as well.(+ $ 8) Overall(not including the deal we got w the Groupon) this is expensive. $ 80 for dinner for what ended up being plenty for 4 – 5 people. The tri tip was SO tender as were the ribs. The sauce is delicious. The hot links were too spicy for my son & I but my husband liked them. The chicken was a little undercooked but the flavor was excellent. I liked the homemade potato salad & beans. The beans really should come in a larger portion for the same price because its mostly sauce. I’d recommend better take out containers for the sides. If these had tipped in my car, I would’ve been furious. I like the Mac & cheese but my husband & son did not. They obviously use some different cheeses creating a unique flavor. Its not for everyone, I suppose. We were supposed to get bread w the meal too but it wasn’t in the bag. There was a ton of meat & we have plenty of leftovers. I would order here again but only with a coupon or Groupon due to the expense. Food was great. They’re super slow.(We waited about 35 – 40 minutes for the take out to be prepared) They were somewhat friendly– not overly so. Bottom line: excellent BBQ, a little pricey, long wait, generous portions.

Worst service ever. I went here with my boyfriend and his sister for the first time. We only came here because of a coupon my boyfriend’s sister found. Anyways, my first impression of the place is that it looked like a prison, not so pretty. However, it looked better when we walked in. They had 3 menus out and the coupon deal says we can get anything in fine print worth $ 20, which by the way she paid for online. Each time I ordered, he would say he didn’t have it or couldn’t do it and said that the menu was old. First I tried ordering ribs, and was willing to pay the difference($ 20 coupon and ribs were $ 27), and he told me they were out of ribs. So I sat down again and decided to get wings. I went up to order them then that bald guy told me that«we don’t do wings» so I say sat back down to decide when he yelled out that he had two slabs of ribs coming off the grill. So i decided to get ribs again since that was my original choice. So i told him about the coupon, and then he tells me that he gave away too many off the same coupon and that i couldn’t do it for me. Then he says,” I cant give you a full slab. You’re going to have to order something else.” I was so frustrated and pissed off that I didn’t know what i wanted anymore. Just as I was about to order something else, he looked passed me and told to ever one waiting behind me, «Is anyone else ready because it doesn’t seem like they know what they want!» I eventually ordered right away before having thay prick let someone else order before me. I ordered hotlink sandwich. As I was waiting, for 45min I overheard the bald guy and his workers cussing and arguing at each other, which is embarrassing. Bad for business. When the food finally came, it looked and tastes like dog poop. The fries tasted soggy and days old. Anyways, worst first experience here and never coming back again. Waste of my time and gas money just to drive all the way here.

Have enjoyed their food in the past several times. Today we went in at 11:50, They were out of tri-tip and chicken. How does that happen when you open at 11 ?!? So we ordered ribs… Would not take the coupon unless«boss man» is there… asked when he’d be in, they didn’t know. Sad to say we won’t be back.

No, no, and no. Over 45 minutes to get our food… and he had to come out and ask us three times what we ordered. Now it’s been almost an hour and fifteen minutes and we are still waiting on our sides. He brought out small dishes of peach cobbler as an apology but still no sides. The party of three behind us have been waiting on their food for over an hour too. The food we did get… tritip was just ok. Ribs were burned, hotlinks burned, fried chicken tasteless. Still can’t tell you what the beans taste like, we’re still waiting.

Great food, great customer service! Wish I’d known about this place sooner. Had the ribs and chicken and waffle. Sadly the greens weren’t ready so we didn’t get to try them, but the mac and cheese could use some help…

Stopped by here for lunch because of the positive reputation and I love BBQ. I ordered the one way with ribs, although I was disappointed the hostess couldn’t tell me if the ribs were spare ribs or baby backs, I also had the beans and fries as sides. The ribs turned out to be spare ribs and I can’t believe they were cooked that day. The ribs were not heated through and slathered in candy sweet sauce that I did not like, it would have been nice to have on the side. The mac n cheese was tepid and the fries were limp and soggy as if cooked at too low a temperature and saturated in oil. I won’t be back.

I was excited to try this place but it did not meet my expectations. Trying to find this place was a slight challenge because the sign isn’t that big and the restaurant itself is small as well. There is a tiny little parking lot in the front and I couldn’t find how to get in the back where there was more parking. The hostess in the front was nice but didn’t go above and beyond to provide notable customer service. We got a dealsaver that was $ 10 for $ 20 worth of food which would be good for 1 person but not 2 because this place is expensive. We could only afford 2 sandwich meals so we got the tri tip sandwich and the catfish sandwich. I waited a good 30 mins for 2 sandwich plates to be done. We also got an extra side of fries which they forgot to put in the bag so I had to go back. When I went back they had my fries ready in 5 mins. It made me wonder why it took 30 mins for 2 sandwiches that are home-cooked quality and some floppy greasy fries?! I wasn’t satisfied and won’t go back again.

The meat is out of this world. Prices are high. The beans and potato salad tasted like it came from a can or carton. The mac/cheese was dry. Everything was way over salted. First time there but everyone and I mean everyone was getting shorted on their orders. They ordered sides and they werent given to them. After I saw what was happening, I checked mine when it came and sure enough, it was short two sides and the bread. I gave it two stars because of the meat.

Not the best bbq in the area but it holds its own. Tri-tip was good, ribs were decent, chicken was good. Got the Watts rice, regular white rice with pork and seasoning, pretty good. Nothing spectacular but better and cheaper than some of the bigger joints in town. I’d go back for the Tri-tip and peach cobbler. All the meat comes with sauce on it, so if you want to try it dry make sure to say so when you order.

The food is horrible… No flavor whatsoever! The mac n cheese is really mushy(over cooked) and didn’t taste like Mac n cheese. I think Kraft Mac n cheese taste better than this… the fries are soggy and really greasy… the ribs are tough and have no flavor… oh and they over sauce them with a really sweet bbq sauce… the trip tip is dry and overly sauced. The only reason why we came here was because we got a dealsaver. Definitely not coming back… I’m giving it 2 starts because they have good customer service. By the way the entrance in the back doesn’t look safe!

OMG! If it weren’t for a deal saver I would never come here. This happened last Friday around 5ish and it’s such a horrible experience. They ran out of chicken(I wanted the chicken & waffle) so I asked if I can just have the waffle and she said their waffle maker is broken. Okay. Then how about tri tip she said it’s going to be ready in an hour but better yet maybe an hour and a half. Okay & how about mac n cheese, nope no mac n cheese, no potatoe salad!!! Are you freakin serious. What do you have. I ended up with fried catfish and ribs. Ewwww it’s not even good. Worst experience ever!!!

BEWARE!!! Under new owners, food is the worst I’ve ever experienced. Food was previously cooked, refrigerated and heated in the microwave. The meat was stale and tasted a week old! Wow unbelievable, the service was terrible. The girl today was very rude. I tried this place based on the deal saver and the previous reviews! Do not waste your money! Take it from me. I will include the photos.

My understanding is this place is under new management and it shows. I arrived shortly after they opened, one couple arrived before myself. The parking is confusing in the back but once I made it to the front and entered the building it looked to me as if the cook was attempting to take the orders and none of the lights were even on in the dinning area yet. The couple before me ordered once the«manager» showed up as well as myself. Food came out fast and efficiently. I order the 1 way with chicken, but the manger told me the chicken wasn’t ready so they didn’t have that. So I got the tri tip with my two sides of Mac and cheese and baked beans and it comes with bread. The tri tip and baked beans were delish. They bread they served was a slice of white bread and they would be much better off serving craft Mac and cheese…(I learned my lesson) Overall this place was okay. I may return…

Two things hard to come by in Fresno is southern food and barbecue but here they come together amazingly. This hole in the wall has been updated to look brand-new inside. Comfortable laid-back environment with large-screen TVs. All the food was tender juicy and loaded with flavor. My wife and I tried the barbecue tri-tip ribs the fried chicken and fried catfish with baked macaroni and cheese potato salad baked beans. I’ve had another barbecue around town and this is hands-down one of the best. My only complaint is that The ordering counter is not easy to find especially when coming through the back door where the parking is. They should put signs pointing the way to the ordering counter. The restroom needs service specifically the commode.

I hate to give such a low rating because of all the hype I’ve heard surrounding this place and I freaking love BBQ and after the disappointment that is Dickey’s I’ve been on the hunt for some awesome BBQ. Decided to try out Watts on Tuesday and while I already knew it wasn’t on a so great side of town I was optimistic but the parking is terrible and the outside of the building is what you’d expect for that side of town but as soon as you walk in the inside was very nice. Let me first say that the service was awesome we were helped by Titi(I believe that’s what her name was) she was very warm and welcoming for us first timers, very bubbly and promoting her food as she should be. I ordered the two way combo with ribs(love me some ribs, mmm) and chicken along with baked beans and Mac n’ Cheese for my sides and my mom ordered the ¼ lb hamburger. When our plates came out the portions looked great although I wasn’t at all impressed with the toast(just some plain store bought looking white bread and light butter, seriously?) and the burger just didn’t look appetizing. I dug in immediately to the ribs which had a good smoky flavor but oh my goodness ya’ll the sauce was way too sweet and both meats were drowning in it which I don’t mind if it’s a good BBQ sauce but sadly this just wasn’t(not enough balance between sweet and spicy) give me Devil’s Spit and Georgia Mustard from Famous Dave’s any day! The baked beans were on point though but sadly the Mac n cheese was stone cold and not very flavorful. Again I hate to write this cause after seeing how many positive reviews there were and how nice Titi was I just wish I could say I had found my new BBQ addiction but sadly the search is still under way.
