It is all ridiculously overpriced. The food is downright disgusting. The hot and sour soup tasted like spicy dishwater — not exaggerating. It even had bubbles. The Kung Pao Chicken was bland, full of day old vegetables, very little chicken and the portion was tiny especially for the price. Even the peanuts tasted as if they had been reused. The egg rolls were soggy, greasy and chewy. The killer was that for an appetizer, soup and small entrée it cost over $ 30.00. The upstairs bar looked like a bomb had gone off in it and the bartender was either a suicidal emo or just ridiculously rude. Come on!!! I have no problem paying good money for good food, but this place represents the worst of Friday Harbor — where it seems no one on the island can tell the difference between dilapidated and quaint.

A Okay describes it about right. It was a really good pizza at what they called«Kung Fu Pizza» and they had Rolling Rock beer on tap. Okay, I’m upping my score to 4 stars as I’m a fan of Rolling Rock and what would be better with a Pesto Veggie Pizza?

Worse restaurant in island! The server was arrogant and food was really bad and did not taste any where close to Chinese .If you are traveling with kid please don’t go at all because there food has extra vinegar and the chicken also did not taste good.

Honestly, I almost gave this place one star but the appetizers and soup were very good which just set us up for massive disappointment. A friend had pizza and liked it(the reason we came here since they had Chinese food and pizza… what could possibly go wrong?) our meals were awful. Three of us ate less than 20% of our food and the waitress did not bat an eye or comment when she took our plates. Obviously she is used to full plates going in the trash. Drinks were stupidly expensive even for Friday Harbor. Waitress/bartender was friendly and the place seemed clean. Never again

This review is for Kung Fu Pizza, the other half of China Pearl. Don’t waste your time, money or taste buds here. We had just dealt with an awful experience at Cask and Schooner across the street and this was one of the only places left open. They were closing in 10 mins so we barely got there in time to get some pizza to go. The staff barely even let us order but were«gracious» enough to let us order to go. We both wanted something different on our pizza so we decided to get two small pizza’s for $ 8.95 each and I only wish they would have explained just how«small» these pizza’s really were. I figured for almost $ 10 the pizza would be a decent size but I was very disappointed when we finally arrived back at our hotel and saw our pizza’s. When they say small, they mean it and that wasn’t even the worst part. When I opened my pizza box the pizza inside looked like something you would pay $ 2.50 for at a convenience store or gas station and tasted like it too. This had to be one of the cheapest tasting pizza’s I had ever tasted. I was starving so I manged to eat most of it but my gf couldn’t even eat half of hers before she tossed it out. The only reason I give them more than one star is that they let us order when it was almost closing time. But I wouldn’t recommend this pizza to anyone. It’s over priced and you could get the same thing at a gas station.

Went here for a late lunch for Chinese(not pizza). Food was not bad but not good either. The service was good and we were regularly attended to. The sweet and sour chicken was below average, prawn and vegetable was average and so was chicken fried rice. The place has extended operating times and we were able to grab lunch even at 4 pm. Economical place to grab a meal at awkward times.

The pizza is really good! We devoured the pesto veggie! However, the chow mien was okay. The noodles were over fried and had less noodles with more veggies. Overall, a great place to dine.

Eww. Gross. Worst meal we’ve had on the islands yet. We paid $ 16 for a single portion of dry pork fried rice, bland chicken chow mein, and questionable-meat sweet and sour pork. Not impressed. Good thing we weren’t very hungry and decided to split it! On that note, we weren’t impressed with the island as a whole either. Go to Orcas instead!

I just read Heather B’s review and figured out that this one is going to be almost the exact same thing. There is nothing special about this place. It’s not bad or good, & the food lacks flavor plus everything that Heather B. said.

The food here wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. Egg flower soup was not good. I got one of the combo dinners for one. Portions were generous and was shared. Rice was decent, sweet & sour chicken was alright, Mongolian beef was alright. My husband ordered the Thai pizza which was pretty good. Service was friendly and quick. It was there, Chinese food sounded good so we gave it a go.

Love this place awesome Chinese food! Second time I’ve ate here. They serve their food with Oolong tea. I get the combo for one but its big enough for two people! My favorite part of it is the fried rice and the sweet and sour pork. They have a really good eggflower soup too! The restaurant has a kid’s claw machine, and is kid friendly. I brought my toddler daughter both times I’ve been in she also loves the food.

My husband and I went here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We were pleasantly surprised by the appetizer platter and egg drop soup… but the individual dishes such as almond chicken, beef & broccoli, shrimp & vegetables and shrimp fried rice were flavorless and served on plates that were half-filled with dry white rice. It was painful to pay over $ 60 for such an unsatisfying meal, especially with no edible leftovers. We would not eat here again.

Also called Kung Fu Pizza… The Peking Chicken lunch special was cheap and yummy. Perfect. Nephew had fish and chips. He liked it. brother had Buffalo Sandwich which he liked. The bloody Mary was kinda off but over all good experience

One of the worst Chinese food I have ever had. $ 15+ for breaded deep-fried halibut dipped in some really nasty sweet sauce. It probably wasn’t even halibut, who knows! I was trying to avoid breaded and deep-fried meat. I asked bunch of questions to our server about other chicken dishes to make sure I don’t order anything deep fried. I should have asked whether this was deep fried but I assumed that it was not. She could have easily told me that it was deep-fried given my previous inquiries. Service was quick but the food was horrible. Really low quality. I will never go there again.

I’ve been here twice, and both times, the food was really good. It’s Americanized Chinese with a few other Asian dishes added in like Vietnamese. They are quick to deliver your order and the price is good. The service has also been all right — not awful, not excellent. I was sad the second time I went as they hacked out the front of the restaurant to change it into a cheap pizza joint with a bar and karaōke joint upstairs. Food: 4 Service: 3 Décor: 4 Parking: 3

To be fair, the food here was not bad. It just wasn’t very good — especially for how inflated all food prices are at Friday Harbor. At the end of your meal, you will leave with a full stomach — but you definitely wont be marveling at the quality of the food, service, or prices. The most bizarre part about China Pearl is that it also moonlights as a pizza/karaōke/dance bar as well — a strange combination to say the least. Like most fast food Chinese restaurants, China Pearl carries your typical dishes(i.e. sweet and sour chicken), but you’re better off opting for some seafood, instead. It is an island, after all.

thai pizza — bland, greasy, and a huge crust for the small size. Tasted and smelled like green onions. The crust was pretty well done though. 2 stars. Combo D — Mongolian beef Was pretty good, had good flavor although slightly chewy. the green onions and regular onions were very flavorful as well, but the crispy noodles were stale and not very crispy. The sweet-and-sour pork was extremely bland, and Americanized. It is definitely worse than panda express. 3 stars. Service — Great service all around, came back multiple times to take away empty plates, refill our waters in, and was generally very timely and professional. 5 stars.

Let me preface this by saying that this is a review of the upstairs bar only — we didn’t eat any food here. My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to play some darts, but it appeared that the only place in town that had them was instead using the space that night for live music. So we popped into China Pearl to grab a drink instead. The bartender was super friendly, the drinks were good, and there were several activities we could have done had they not been already in use(pool tables, foosball, etc). We had a fine time here. Nothing too special, but a decent place for a drink.
