The Barkley Ballroom

This place should be renamed the Barkley Basement, since that is exactly what it is, a basement. The sound quality is pretty bad and the layout is wide but not long, making the viewing area of the band not very large at all. We were at this place for a show that wasn’t even close to sold out, so I bet during a sold out show this place can get pretty crowded and terrible.
I gave it 4-​stars because although the venue itself isn’t very impressive it does get decent acts and the booze is cheap. If a band you like is playing there definitely buy a ticket and go. There is much fun to be had in that basement.

The 4 of us paid $ 40 to get in for cramped dark walls and a crappy band. I suspect it’s because I’m over 30 but this place was awful. We were in for 2 minutes and tried to leave and asked for our $ 40 back and were denied. College kids might love this… otherwise, go elsewhere!

Went to Zach Deputy and had a BLAST. low key, laid back music club with amazing sound and cheap drinks. Will come back.

been to many music clubs over time and this sets the standard for «worst ever». really horrible, over-​amped and poor sound, hardly any seating, insolent manager who tossed off my comments while hanging out with his friends outside the club. Went there to hear two groups I really like, and paid high admission. Left after 4 numbers, as music was so loud it was totally distorted and completely out of character for performers or their work. adding insult to injury, they advertise opening at 8:30 but really open their doors at 9 — show starts over 30 mins late. bartender «didn’t know» what the one beer was that was on tap, but «thought it might be hoppy». the place is an insult to Summit County and the visiting talent the county enjoys. avoid this place at all cost — there are too many better alternatives.

I stumbled upon this place on a Bluegrass Wednesday while visiting from LA. Solid band bookings no doubt. It was the best music I heard all trip. Definitely check this gem out if you’re in Summit County. Looking forward to coming back here come ski season, perhaps on a weekend this time.

Great music scene and they also have bluegrass Wednesdays (which I love!). Live music 6 days a week.
