Absolutely amazing place. Our family of 5 each loved their meals. Lobster bisque — creamy and amazing. Sausage and chicken jambalaya — right amount of spice, with awesome flavor. Red beans, sausage and rice — wonderful sauce. Catfish — just get it, as an entrée, side… Must have. Magnificent meal! The people here are warm and wonderful. They bring you a sample of the 6 soups and make great suggestions, plus they were great with our kids. Can’t wait until our next visit!

The Lost Cajun is truly the home to a lost New Orleans chef. From the samplers to the beignets, to the great hospitality, this little shack is truly a southern gem in the mountains of Colorado. Prices are good, wait staff and chefs share tips and everyone working is there to help make your experience one to come back for time and again. One extra tip, breath out as you take that first bite of beignet, keeps your lungs clear and covers your friends in powdered sugar.

Stopped at the Lost Cajun, solely based on reviews. Great choice! Much smaller inside than we thought, but arrived early enough to get a table(there’s 3!). Cool little double sided bar area for people to sit as well. One waitress and 4 cooks! Open concept kitchen. The menu had a lot of great Cajun choices. Even some of their beer is from Louisiana. Only thing I can say on a downside is it was a tad pricey. Two adults, one child=$ 100 with the tip.

Omg their beignet was so good we order the small bites it was mini pillows. So fluffy and good has really impressed me with their beignets compared to where I’ve tried. The seafood gumbo was good and their fried shrimp platter!

As Good as the High Ratings it gets! With two locations near Breckenridge and Frisco. We were on our way headed back to Breckenridge, when we noticed on Unilocal there was a Frisco location! Its located in a nice area. The seating is fairly limited. The restaurant has great Louisiana feel, with all the décor from LA. We were greet by a waitress who sat us and provided us Chief samples! The Chef samples were awesome, and the best part of the restaurant. It allowed us to taste all the all the types of styles: Crawfish Étouffée, Seafood Gumbo, Lobster Bisque, Red Beans… they were all delicious. We had the Crawfish Étouffée(~$ 12) and Catfish + Crawfish Etoufee(~$ 14). Both were exceptionally great tasting and reasonably priced. We ended with King Cake($ 5/slice), which is one of our favorites deserts from Louisiana.

We’ve been to New Orleans many times. This… place…is…legit. We had the spicy chicken and sausage gumbo, crawfish étouffée, and fried catfish. Followed, of course, by the beignets. And I should mention I had some red«porch wine» which was appropriately named. I had two. All delish. Surprise… we’re in Frisco, CO. Best dinner on this ski vacay!

Dropped by this place after a long day of snowboarding and was rewarded with some delicious food. They start everyone off with a sampler platter of 6 dishes, so you get a chance to try a little bit of everything before making your decision. I sampled the lobster bisque, seafood gumbo, chicken & sausage gumbo, red beans and rice, crawfish étouffée and decided to order the seafood gumbo. The lobster bisque was tempting, but ultimately too creamy for my taste. The food was excellent, but because I was starving I wished that the gumbo came with more rice. Overall I was very happy with the food and service.

We drove up to Frisco from Denver. We wanted to go snowshoeing and found a wonderful trail. Afterward, we stumbled upon The Lost Cajun. A true piece of «The Big Easy» in the Rockies! It’s not very large but incredibly friendly staff. It’s right on Main Street and easy to find. They started with a sampler tray of the day’s 5 entrees. An incredibly wonderful and tasty touch! Suz ordered the Crawfish Étouffée and I got the sausage and chicken gumbo. Both were quite warming to the soul and filling. They had the perfect amount of spice. Really tasty food! We then followed it up with beignets. Suz told me they truly reminded her of those at the Café du Monde! I ended up with powdered sugar all over me, including up my nose. But well worth the humiliation! Quick and friendly service with amazing food. I cannot wait to return and visit again! Run don’t walk to enjoy the food at The Lost Cajun.

Excellent gumbo in Colorado??? You bet! If your craving something to warm you up after being on that mountain all day then come here. The Cajun food is really fricken great! I loved the gumbo and the catfish tenders. The gumbo is one of their specialties and they’ll even give you another scoop for free if you’re still hungry when you finish the first bowl. I’m not a big catfish fan but after trying their version of the fried kitty fish I am now in love with it.(just here) Very small inside with around 6 tables and a galley table for about 12 people that you share with whoever is sitting’ there. Very friendly owner. Opening up more stores in Florida. Another store in Breckenridge.

Gluten free catfish damn! I’ll be back! Very tasty catfish and chicory coffee and Abita beer. Liann was friendly, great and cute. She greeted us with smile, water and samples. I’m so impressed food freshness, authenticity and friendly service at great price. I smother my catfish with hot sauce and savor it. I highly recommend The Lost Cajun!

Great original food. The free sample board with variety of combos is a nice way to see what you like. The crawfish Étouffée is amazing moderately spicy hearty dish. The staff are friendly and helpful. The waitress and chef talk back and forth for each order saying«oder up» chef responds and waitress says«thank you chef» then chef responds«you’re welcome» they do this for each order. Highly recommend!

Lunch at the Lost Cajun was terrific. Nice service, samples, and delicious food. I’m not naturally a Cajun food fan, since so many places tend to «Cajun» everything, like your Cole slaw will end up infused with«Cajun» spices. We had the hush puppies(order of 8 but it was really more like 10 — you gotta love a snack that comes out with extra butter just in case not enough oil was involved in their frying!). The husband ordered the Cat-touffee(fried catfish on rice smothered in crawfish étouffée with buttered bread and potato salad). $ 14 I think. I ordered the shrimp po boy with Cole slaw, $ 13. Husband loved his catfish. My shrimp po boy was so big and filled with perfectly fried shrimp, I ate half and passed the rest to the husband. Totally amazing. Cole slaw was great, about a cup’s worth, not too wet/sauced. Husband’s Louisiana beer was good, he reported. Only minus was the potato salad. Potatoes were undercooked and it was overall a very wet salad with lots of mayo, and maybe ¼ cup worth(which was fine since we didn’t care for it). Everything else was so good I decided to tell the waitress and she handled it really well. Made me glad I’d let her know — apparently the potato salad is normal very«creamy» and she’d ask the chef to check in case we just had an anomaly. So — although I would have had to give this a four star because of the potato salad, I have to give it a five star because they handled the concern well. The restaurant’s story is a good one — read the menu! Final note: this is a picnic table style paper plate establishment, so know that going in. Worth the visit for sure! We will be back with friends!

The name of this place pulls on a semi-concealed heartstring of mine — it’s a long story and honestly you probably don’t want to hear it. Point being, I walked in with open arms, a tight-wound secret, and an eager stomach. The first thing I saw is that they have Andygator beer(which is another plucked string in the ol’ ticker’s sounded chord). It’s brewed by Abita, a Louisiana brewery that knows what the f*ck they’re doing. So I definitely ordered one of those. And sat down to be warmly greeted by the waitress who brought us a sampler(complimentary for every newcomer). It all makes you feel a bit like royalty. The sampler showcases all the soup-like-offferings but I’m afraid it had an opposite effect of the intended one. I didn’t want to order any of them. The lobster soup was waaaaaay too creamy/cheesy/mayo’y. And all the other items were really salty and surprisingly bland beyond that. Ended up with the shrimp plate and a bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo, I think. These dishes were fine but boring and again, aggressively salted. Now there are a lot of places in NOLA that love to dunk your meal in a vat of salt — but I don’t like it there and I don’t like it here.(and I love salt) The best thing here(besides the beer) is the fried okra — awesome batter, fried just right, and a really generous portion. Overall a warm and pleasant experience, but the food is nothing special and a bit disappointing for those of us homesick for a home we never had.

Afraid that writing this review might make me crave their amazing food and it’s a bit far to get to tonight. It’s very very casual. Picnic table casual. No biggie, but not the place for a special fancy date. As soon as we sat down, our server brought us 5 samples to taste. They must have been out of the jambalaya. I got a photo AFTER we licked every drop… sorry. They were all good. My husband got the rice and beans. My daughter and I shared the lobster bisque and the shrimp po boy. All three were keepers.(On a side note, if lobster bisque is on a menu, I will probably be ordering it.) We had sides of cole slaw and potato salad. The cole slaw wasn’t anything out of the world but I really liked the potato salad. Portions were large enough that we were too full for beignets. Now we have a reason to get back. Thanks for Unilocalers for turning us on to this gem!

My husband and I were looking for some place different, so after reading all the glowing reviews we thought we’d give this place a try. After we sat down, the waitress brought us a sampler board with little cups of different dishes for us to try. They were all really good. I couldn’t decide what to get. I wish they had a larger version of the sampler plate we could order so we could get a little bit of everything. That would have been perfect. I ordered the lobster bisque and my husband got the fried catfish and fries. My soup was good and filling, but I was wishing I had some of the other stuff, too, like the gumbo or the rice and beans. It didn’t come with anything else besides bread. My husband thought the fish was ok, but it didn’t really have a lot of flavor. I guess we were expecting more after reading all the great reviews. We were slightly disappointed. The place is very small, so be prepared to be packed in tightly. There is also some seating outside. Our server was really friendly and we sat by some really nice people. So we had a pleasant dining experience. We thought the prices were kind of high for what we got. The food was pretty good but we probably wouldn’t come back again because it was a just little too pricey for us.

Stopped here for lunch after searching on Unilocal.Very happy we read the previous reviews. Loved the sampler plate they brought out, helped us to make some great choices. We ordered some hush puppies to start, my husband lives hush puppies. I fell in love with these! The were perfectly crisp, had little jalapeño and some spice made them just right. He had the lobster bisque and loved it, I had the seafood gumbo spiced perfectly. We were grateful for having tried these with the sampler, what a great way to showcase all the good stuff! I of course had to have a «Ben Yay» When back in the Frisco area we will definitely be back!

Ah, The Lost Cajun. I can relate because that was me before I discovered the mountains. It was the summer of my 27th year. Coming home to a place I’d never been before. Oh sorry, I digress. At The Lost Cajun, they give you a sample tray that includes seafood gumbo, chicken and sausage gumbo, lobster bisque, red beans and rice, and crawfish ettoufee. All are excellent, but I liked the seafood gumbo the best. I grew up in Louisiana eating gumbo. and have tried many variations. I can say without hesitation that The Lost Cajun’s seafood gumbo is some of the best that I have ever tasted. The consistency and color were on point. The roux was tasty, and didn’t overpower the seafood. I could taste the shrimp and crabmeat. The okra did not retain any shape, but contributed its unique flavor. A hint of tomato could be found. The gumbo was served over the right amount of rice. And, it had a wonderful spiciness that did not require any help. The bowl size order is huge and is served with two pieces of French bread and a side of coleslaw. The bowl is enough for a meal. I ordered a cup to go along with the fried catfish plate, and it was also a generous portion. Others in our party tried the chicken and sausage gumbo, lobster bisque, and red beans and rice. Everyone thought their dinners were delicious.

My wife & I didn’t get to visit the actual restaurant but we did stop by their booth at the BBQ competition this weekend. The gumbo, jambalaya & beignets were all very good and well seasoned. Next time we’re in the area we’ll visit the restaurant for sure. Great job, the roux was perfect.
