My girlfriend & I stayed at Killahevlin over the July 4th weekend and had a great time. As soon as we entered, Tom graciously welcomed us & began working to make us feel at home. He provided us with a handy, detailed map of the town and gave us ample recommendations for food, fun activities and places to watch the fireworks. His suggestions were great-we even went to one of his recommendations, twice. We stayed in the ‘Blue Room’ and were very happy with it as it is excellently kept and well furnished. The bathroom is very spacious and has a big, jacuzzi style tub which can easily fit 2. Additionally, there’s a private, outdoor sun room(enclosed) which is very nice. It’s a great spot to relax, morning or night, & just hang out. There’s also another private bathroom accessible from the sun room as well. In addition to the room, you’re welcomed to explore the home & make full use of the open bar/pub, which is readily stocked with alcohol & soft drinks. The breakfast is delicious, filling & made fresh to order. Even before our arrival, they began making preparations to better serve us, due to specific requests made in our reservation. Tom & Cathy were both very accommodating, which was clearly evident. In terms of location, Killahevlin is also conveniently located next to Skyline Drive/Caverns and several eateries, so there is never a shortage of great places to chow down. Overall, it was an excellent stay and I’d gladly return again!

My boyfriend and I just got back from our stay at Killahelvin. We enjoyed our stay there. When you first walk into the house there was a small pub where guests could help themselves to unlimited beer and soft drinks. Also, Tom & Kathy have 2 cats, Gracie and Danny who roam around the house. We stayed in the Blue Room which was very nice. We had our own private enclosed porch, as well as a large Jacuzzi style bath tub. There was also a small bathroom on the porch as well. Tom and Kathy were very accommodating, they recommended a lot of really nice restaurants for us to dine in while in town. Upon our arrival, I made a note saying that I did not eat pork. For breakfast the next day, they provided me with turkey bacon instead. Breakfast was very filling and delicious. They bake fresh scones each morning. Each breakfast starts with a fruit dish then followed by the entrée. My favorite entrée while I stayed was the Belgian waffle. The only complaint I would have is that parking there is very tight. Since Killahelvin sits up high on a very steep hill, they have a very long driveway which is is very narrow. The driveway is only big enough for one car so it can get tricky if there is another car coming from the opposite direction. All in all it was a very nice stay. I would go again.

My husband returned to Killahevlin almost 12 years after we spent our honeymoon there. The ownership has changed since we’ve been there, but the hospitality hasn’t. Tom and Kathy were gracious and warm hosts. The Front Royal location is close to Skyline Drive. There are many wineries in the area. The Shenandoah Valley is a great place to relax. This time around we stayed in the Blue Room. It’s a quaint room, with an enormous tub and a lovely private sun porch right off the room. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were good. I really enjoyed using the sun room. It was a perfect place to sip a cup of tea and catch up on my reading. We had wonderful 3 course breakfasts. There were warm scones and then a yummy fruit course. One morning we had the most delicious eggs benedict and then the other morning pancakes and eggs and bacon. One of the my favorite amenities is the self serve pub. Harp was on tap and there was wine available too. There is also a tv in the pub if you want to catch up with sports or anything else. I highly recommend Killahevlin for a weekend getaway.

I love this place. We stayed here twice. Once in 2007 and once this past April. Both times we were treated wonderfully. The house is lovely and if the weather is nice yuo can eat on the deck. THey have their own bar which is great because you can pour you own beer while watching the TV in there. Its an amazing B and B — brilliant food, great look and the room was lovely both times. WE’ll definitely be back again. at some point.

An absolutely lovely spot to enjoy a weekend in Shenandoah Valley and Front Royal. Tom, the host, is kind and accommodating, and serves a mean eggs benedict in the morning! Our room was comfortable and large, with nice furnishings, free wi-fi and toiletries provided. Killahevlin also comes complete with a huge wraparound porch and rockers, and a pub on the ground floor(which made for a perfect spot to enjoy Harp on draft and a Michigan thrashing of Notre Dame!). Location-wise, this B&B is close enough to walk to several highly recommended dinner spots, and a quick drive to Main St. Should you choose to cab, it is only $ 3.50 to pretty much anywhere you want to go. Well done, Killahevlin!

My girlfriend and I stayed here a few months ago, and absolutely loved it. There’s normally two things I weight on a bed and breakfast: the feel of the place and breakfast. Killahevlin excelled on both of these. The room was not decorated in an overtly frightening Antiques Roadshow sort of way, and also wasn’t incredibly haphazard. The bed was comfortable, and our bathroom was well taken care of. Most importantly, though, was the small touch by the owners to put fresh cookies up there every night, next to the decanter of sherry that is complimentary. Both the sherry and the fresh cookies were damn good. The grounds themselves were also very nice, with the house being very open and comfortable. Since it was summer, we also took advantage of the nice gazebo and porch to spend some comfortable time relaxing and reading. So, that gives me an A+ on the grounds, but how was the food? Damn good as well. The owners are not only very friendly, but they can COOK! Between the eggs benedict served on a savory waffle and the creamy orange fool, we were stuffed. I’d eat breakfast here every weekend if I could. And to top it off? There’s a pub on the premises! Yes, the bed and breakfast aspect is cozy enough, but they have a private pub stocked with plenty of Irish beers, local VA wines, sodas and a keg of beer. At the time it was Bass, but I get the impression they switch it up. It was a great place to enjoy a few beers, as well as chat with the other guests. This in itself was great, since we learned about a couple wineries we normally wouldn’t have found. Also, the pub is where they keep the menus from local restaurants, winery brochures, and other nifty touristy stuff. Note that they have coupons to some of the local places which will get you hooked up nicely. Overall, we loved it, and I think we may make a yearly trip out of going here. It’s one of the best B&B’s I’ve ever stayed at.
