Truly amazing service and a great atmosphere. The chef knows what he’s doing and cooks the best smoked ribs and chicken in the state. Highly recommend.

My husband and I have been here three or four times since it changed hands, and have always been pretty pleased with the food, service and value. It’s nothing special, but for Front Royal, it’s a pretty OK place.

We were driving from Luray back to DC and wanted to watch the Preakness and get dinner. This place popped up with a few good reviews and seemed like the type of place that would have a TV. Currently they have 2 behind the bar, but they are getting another one or two for the dining room area. The waitress was very friendly and chatted with us about The Pub. It was opened in early 2014. She said the menu was still evolving. We had the chicken wings, a full salad, and a steak that came with a baked potato and salad. The wings were really good and came with plenty of blue cheese/ranch dressing. Both of the salads were great, the ingredients seemed fresh. The steak was cooked just as I ordered it and was seasoned well. It also happened to be the deal. My biggest disappointment was the baked potato. It was just a baked potato with butter and sour cream on the side. I liked being able to put on what I wanted, but some chives or a little bit of bacon would have made it perfect. The beer selection was good, around 6 taps and a decent bottle selection. There is also a full bar. We were told there is live music or DJs, or Karaōke many nights. They are also going to add outdoor seating. While this place is new, it is certainly a good place to stop on the way from Shenandoah back to DC. It is on the road that Skyline dumps you off on and leads to 66.

Stopped by after a bike ride. Very pleasantly surprised with what they have done with the place. Chef Robert has a lot of experience and great asset. The pub has much potential and I am anxious to see how Front Royals first brew pub develops. Staff very friendly.

The new renovations are beautiful! This place has a lot of potential. Their beer selection is great and they have tvs at the bar with sporting events on. Great happy hour prices. I had the pub salad which was just ok. The dressing didn’t compliment the salad well and the nuts were missing. Everyone I was with really enjoyed their sandwiches though. We went on karaōke night. It was a lot of fun! This would be a good regular bar, like Cheers!

I have been here twice in the last week, and I am looking forward to returning again. Located where the South Street Grille used to be, the new business is quite simply named, «The Pub.» At the time of writing this review, the«South Street Grille» sign is still hanging, but it is a brand new place, with a brand new look, menu and feel. It is well-worth checking out. Stepping in, I was amazed at how very different it looked from the old 50’s era diner. Passing through the side-entrance, you will find a brand new polished 7 — 8 seat bar in place of the counter from the Grille’s days of yore. On both occasions, I was promptly greeting by smiling and friendly staff. Gazing at the bar taps, I found Riley’s Red Ale(a new favorite!), Bold Rock — a hard cider made with locally farmed apples(from neighboring Winchester), Devil’s Backbone IPA, & Shock Top. If you don’t like beer, they also serve Mich Ultra & Bud Light. They have bottled beer as well(Newcastle stands out, but I forget the rest). There is a full bar with wine and cocktails as well. Let me tell you: Riley’s is awesome — try it out! Debbie sold me on the lunch special the first day — quiche and a salad. While I forget the price, it was a very good deal — a side salad of romaine lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, croutons and shredded cheese with a balsamic dressing, plus a slice of sausage and pepper quiche for I think around 7 — 8 bucks. They also had a vegetarian and a bacon version as well. The second time I visited, Crystal set me up with a dozen hot wings and some happy hour beers(which are about $ 2.00 off). Happy Hour runs from 4 – 7, and I think they said that’s every day of the week. Oatmeal Cookie Shooters were the special shot of the day, and they are wickedly good. Think of a delicious homemade oatmeal cookie, but one that gets you buzzed! They offer an a la carte brunch on Saturdays and Sundays(I remember seeing Eggs Benedict on the menu). They open at 11:00AM Monday — Friday, and brunch is from 10:00AM — 2:00PM on Saturday & Sunday. They close at 10 early in the week, but once the weekend gets closer(Thursday night — Saturday), they are open ’til midnight. They have karaōke, but I am not sure about which nights. Judging from the buzz, the Pub Salad with strawberry and almonds, and the Philly with sliced rib-eye, pepper and onions, are good bets. I will probably try both sometime soon. On the dinner menu are pastas, steak and salmon. The shrimp alfredo and fettucini pictured on their facebook page looks amazing. I really liked the staff, the food, the beer and the atmosphere, and suggest you stop by. If you enjoy yourself, feel free to thank me with a Riley’s.
