My husband & I were in Cumberland for a Saturday afternoon, and decided to take a walk around town to see what there was to see. We came across this little log cabin in a small park on Green Street with historical markers all around. It was built in the 1750’s and used during the French & Indian War and the Whiskey Rebellion by General Braddock and George Washington(first as a Colonel, and then as President). The cabin wasn’t open while we were there, but I assume it does open for special events and possibly tour groups. There is a window though to peek in through, and an button you can press for very informative audio history. The cabin may be small, but If you have any interest in revolutionary or early US history, it worth a visit. In the Riverside Park that the cabin sits in, there is a nice monument marking«Mile 0», the original start to the old National Road. There’s plenty of reading information on that as well to round out your visit It was a nice little stop on our walking tour of Cumberland.
