This place has very delicious sushi but every time I call for delivery the person on the phone says they don’t deliver even though it’s under the delivery category. If you’re not able to deliver all the time, why have the option at all?

College town bar food with a sushi bar. Good beer selection including local drafts. The food was okay, nothing special, with a little more effort it could rate higher. Pretty good fair-style fries. The staff was friendly and welcoming.

After our experience here we will not be returning. I’m going to make this simple and list off everything that was wrong. My boyfriend and I ordered delivery from Zen Shi to have a night in. We didn’t realize until after the delivery driver left that they forgot part of our order. Then after calling back multiple times with it going straight to voice-mail we were obligated to go up to the restaurant to sort it sorted out. But as for the food: *The vegetable tempura was mostly soggy mushrooms. *The Pagoda appetizer is listed in the menu as being assorted fish, avocado, cucumber with a sauce. What I received was imitation crab meat with a total of 6 small pieces of actual fish that I had to really try to search for. *The Bobcat Roll came with unripe mango inside of it and on the side was an under cooked, uncleaned, fried prawn. *And lastly, the Spicy Tuna Hand Roll was literally just 2 pieces of tuna sashimi and with a little of the spicy mayo in it. Most of the time the sushi here is decent. But I would only ever recommend eating in at this restaurant solely to have any problems fixed right then and there.

My boyfriend and I have gotten their sushi multiple times and it is hella good. Highly recommend their crispy spicy salmon roll but really every roll we’ve gotten is on point. Rock on Zen Shi!

I come for the bloody marys, but they have a nice selection of rotating beers on tap, cans & bottles, craft, import & domestic. The food is good. I ordered the spring rolls, the dynamite roll and an Alaska roll this time. All were great. I won’t say its the best sushi I’ve had in my life but it is definitely great quality, fresh, and a nice selection. They have a large bar area, sushi bar, and an outside deck. Great for football Sunday. Corn hole is set up outside, also. Service was quick, and everyone was super friendly!

The food is okay and the staff are wonderful. The do have thing to do one certain days like karoke for example. The place does have a sport bar feel to it.

We ate here upon arrival from the Western Scenic Rail Road and what a surprise. I was a bit hesitant that we were eating Sushi 2.5 hours inland but Frostburg doesn’t offer much so we tried it out. The owner greeted us and offered some new beer that they had on draft and talked for a while about other quirky restaurants around Baltimore and Maryland, really nice guy. Our Sushi came out and I ordered Yum Yum Rolls and my GF ordered Rich Rolls and they were some of the best Sushi Rolls I have ever ordered. You can tell when fish is frozen, not these little guys. The staff was great, the beer was cold, and the Sushi was perfect. Great place to eat in Frostburg.

This used to be my favorite sushi place ever! I would order chicken tempura and a California roll until I got a carry out order that contained a large black hair. After that encounter a friend and I went to dine in. During that experience, the server was on the phone while taking our order and while dropping off our food. I want to love the food here because it is excellent. However, the last few times have been quite disappointing.

Good rolls! Nice service! Had fantastic music. Definitely caters to a more«Merikan» palate, but it’s cool.

I wish I could give this place zero stars, rather than one. I absolutely HATE this restaurant, if you can even call it that. The owner is incredibly rude and has no business in the food industry. He wouldn’t even replace a four dollar beer that a customer took one sip out of, and didn’t like. FOURDOLLARS. We were with a group of eight people and he thought it was worth it to lose eight people worth of business rather than just give him a new beer. Unfortunately, the whole restaurant reflects his business«ethic.» The sushi is basically just rice and the service is awful. There are plenty of other sushi joints in Frostburg to go to, so do not waste your time here.

We stopped here on our drive back to DC from Ohio. The waitstaff was incredibly nice but not knowledgable — when we asked what beers were on tap she responded: «Not much. But we have everything in bottles.» The food was edible(not good!) but waaaay overpriced. $ 15 for veg sushi roll entrée which was tiny. No soup or salad accompanied it. The atmosphere is best described as college dive bar. We will not stop here next time we drive through to see family. I would rather have Taco Bell.

We had a very good time. The sushi was awesome. Volcano rolls is are a must. It was quiet and sitting next to the fire was warm and friendly.

Horrible service… bad sushi… THIS is not a sushi restaurant… its a beer bar THEN a little carryout sushi bar on the side… American owned bar that rents out out a sushi station…

Four stars because the sushi is AWESOME. Would be five stars, but the service and atmosphere is lacking. Servers are sloppily dressed and unprofessional, but nice enough. Usually only one sushi chef working, so we typically wait a bit longer than we would like. Las Vegas roll and Dynamite roll keep us coming back time after time!

It’s pretty good for a small sushi place in the mountains. The food I’ve had(I usually only order sushi and some appetizers) has always been good. I’ve only ordered take-out and delivery from them, and my experiences haven’t been so good regarding their customer service. Every time I’ve picked up, I’ve had to wait a few minutes for someone to greet me — once, there were three people sitting there watching TV and didn’t say anything. And they have a bell on their door that rings when people walk in, so it’s not like they don’t know that I’m there. But when I had my food delivered, the woman was very nice and friendly(even though she got lost, but she called me to ask for directions). She was a different person from when I went to pick up my food. Overall, it’s a little overpriced but good sushi when you’re craving it. Edit: I just ordered take-out, and when I went in, the girl at the bar was friendly and attentive right away. I was in and out in a minute. However, when I got home, there was a bug right on top of my salmon lover roll. Unfortunately it was my largest order so I didn’t see it right away. Disappointing :(

The food is way overpriced to be so mediocre, granted it’s better that Eastern Express, but that’s not a high standard to begin with.

What could you really expect from a Japanese restaurant in the middle of nowhere Maryland? The servers were all nice and their food decent. It’s one of those places catered to westerners with crab rangoon, hot and sour soup, tempura, pad thai, and Mac and cheese for kids. Their actual sushi rolls were pretty tasty. It was a really convenient stop for our train ride though, just at the top of the hill.

My boyfriend and I took the scenic train tide from Cumberland(which is GREAT! Definitely give that a try!) We had an hour to spend in Frostburg and decided to get lunch here. Service was really really bad. 4 customers in the entire restaurant and it still took 25 minutes to get our 1 sushi roll and 2 sashimi. The sushi chef literally ignored us when we started asking a few questions and the waitress had no clue what we were talking about(when requesting beers on tap). I can’t speak for the locals, but if you are coming from out of town and want a relaxing place to have lunch, skip this place. Only reason it isn’t a 1 star is because the sushi was actually pretty good. If you do go here, try the Frostburg roll.

Superb. This place is a pleasant surprise. Frostburg isn’t a town with a lot of ethnic food choices. I stopped here on a business trip and had some of the best sushi I’ve had anywhere. They take American Express, and have quick, excellent service. Absolutely, a must go.
