I envy the guy who had the service he did. When I went, the receptionists were more interested in gabbing quite loudly to each other than helping patients. I got my x-ray done just fine, but it’s been over a week and they still haven’t sent the x-rays over to my doctor. Really frustrating to have to wait so long for some x-rays. Needless to say I’ll be going elsewhere to get x-rays done if I need to. And now I notice the review that has been filtered for whatever reason that had the same problems I had. I’m going to be livid if I find out I’ve been hobbling around on a broken ankle for over a week.

Much to my surprise, AFI(the MRI place, not the horrible emo band) calls me the day after my appointment with Dr. Stauber to schedule an appointment for my MRI. I have an appointment within two days and have excellent directions in hand. I get there and it’s a tiny little place. Waiting room has about 5 chairs and a radio playing softly. I check in and the receptionist, who was extremely nice, gives me their bazillion forms to fill out. Okay, so theirs was only 3 pages, but still… She let me know that they were running a bit behind, about 15 minutes or so and that she was really sorry. No problem! I sit and about 10 minutes later the tech calls me to the back and they have me take off my bracelet and watch and leave my purse in a cupboard where I can lock it up and keep the key. Nice! He tells me to use the«facilities» since my MRI would take about 35 minutes. Get in, he positions my knee in this weird little blood pressure cuff looking thing, puts a pillow under my other leg, then offers up a blanket. I took it. Especially because it was 68 degrees in there and I had this fear that I would start shivering and move and ruin the scans. He comes over the loud speaker and tells me everything that’s happening and how long each scan will be. Mind you, the whole time it’s so quiet in there with only the knocking of the MRI machine that I just want to doze off into la la land. But I remember! Right before I fall into a deep sleep, I do that weird little twitching. I’ve actually woken myself up before. If I twitch and I move my knee, I screw up the scans. So no nappy nappy. :( It didn’t seem like 35 minutes had passed but with my arm falling asleep and me not being able to shake it out, it did. Once we were done, the tech came back in and disengaged me from the machine while we spoke about school, and his daughter and granddaughter, and when my scans would be sent, yadda yadda yadda. I got up and out of there a happy camper because I’ve heard of many MRI horror stories about mean techs, sensitive machines, etc. If I ever need another MRI done, I’m hitting up AFI.
