Citibank

Located in Downtown Fullerton. Parking is private lot for Citibank Customers and the staff and tellers are friendly and helpful. Very safe and secure parking lot with a security guard. ATM machine is outside and they have a drive thru area for use of the ATM.

Would not cash a check written by a multinational Corporation to me on their CITI ACCOUNT because I did not have a checking account there. Dishonest, evasive, incompetent and just downright unwilling to assist.

Words cannot describe how inefficient this bank and its workers are. If the bank opens at 10, everything should be up and running before those doors open, no excuses. Furthermore, theres only one worker behind those desks when theres a line of customers waiting; people who will end up being late for work because this location could not get their crap together. A simple sorry will not change the fact that we are late to our jobs. However, it does not stop there, these workers have attitudes. Just by the negative tone of their voice really irritated me. They talked to me as if I am the one at fault here. It’s bad enough that theres a long line of frustrated people, do not add fuel to the flame. Get your workers straightened out Citibank. There are plenty of other banks out there with much a friendlier work crew, remember that. It would be my absolute pleasure to give this location zero stars.

Recently I had to visit this branch because my home loan statement did not arrive through the mail., but I knew it was due. From the time I entered this branch, everyone was so helpful. The teller apologized for not receiving my statement and I told he it was not her fault that the US mail did not deliver or it got lost. She even went the extra mile to verify my correct address and did look up that the statement was sent out. I appreciated it so much, I even offered her a job with my company, because that’s the kind of caring people I want helping my customers.

You would think working at a bank requires a little bit of intelligence, or at least some knowledge about banking. I’m not talking about everyone there, but there’s one employee (V.H.) who is not only incompetent but also a liar. I’m not going to this branch anymore. I’m so angry!!!

I recently had a most horrible experience at this Citibank branch in Fullerton, CA.
I handed over a bundle of cash ($ 7500 to be exact) to a teller and told him that I would like to deposit.
It was a cash donation from my relatives to be used towards my mother’s funeral.
My sisters and I counted the money (checked and double checked) before I took it to Citibank.
The teller counted the money in a very sloppy way (I mean unbelievably sloppy) scattering the cash all over the desk and then entered the WRONG amount into his computer system.
As he was entering the amount into the system he told me it was $ 6700.
I was flabbergasted for several reasons:
1. He didn’t bother to double check the amount.
2. He didn’t run the cash through the machine.
3. He counted the amount wrong.
4. He didn’t bother to ask what the amount was before counting.
5. He never apologized.
It was not just few hundred dollars, It was several thousand dollars.
I did not give him the deposit slip, because when you are using your debit card, they do not ask for one.
Perhaps he thought that I didn’t know the total amount, and perhaps thought that he could get away with stealing few hundred dollars.
When he told me that the amount was $ 6700, I was shocked and told him to count it again.
He gave me a dirty look. He really didn’t want to do it.
He very slowly re-​counted and told me that it was $ 7000 this time.
No apologies.
I told him that the actual amount was $ 7500 and he needs to run it through the machine.
He seemed very annoyed by my request and moved in an amazingly slow speed.
He gathered the cash that was scattered on his desk, very slowly got up and went over to the machine and ran the cash through the machine reluctantly.
Again, it was only $ 7000.
I was in such a shock that I didn’t know how to respond.
I meekly took the deposit slip and left the bank.
As I was leaving the building, I felt that I at least needed to talk to the manager about it and went back into the bank.
I called the branch manager and asked her to re-​count the money.
By that time, the teller who helped me was helping other customers.
Since several minutes have passed, the teller probably had enough time to put the cash away into his pocket.
The branch manager re-​counted the cash and told me that the amount was exactly $ 7,000, not $ 7,500.
I asked if she could search his desk area (I was hoping that she could check the teller’s pockets) and check the surveillance camera.
She checked under the desk (not his pockets or bags) for few seconds and checked the guy’s cash drawer.
She told me that they cannot check the surveillance camera right away; it takes a couple of days, and it is the company policy not to show the video footage to customers.
I have not heard back from her yet.
I’ve never had such an experience before, and I am still in a state of shock.
Side note:
Because he was so sloppy with the cash I tried to see what he was doing on the other side of the counter. Due to the depth of the double counters and full-​height glass partition, it was hard to see what he was doing on the other side.
I tried to write down what he was counting (how many hundred dollar bills, how many 20’s, how many 5’s, etc.), but was unsuccessful.
I just left the piece of paper on the counter that I scribbled on.
Later he collected that small piece of paper (I do not know when) and showed it to his manager saying that that was the piece of paper that I brought in and my calculation was wrong.
I was shocked to hear how he LIES.
He saw me scribbling the numbers down in front of him as he was counting.
The whole time that I was talking to his manager, he could not look at me straight into my eyes.
The manager’s explanation was that the guy was new to the bank and NOT properly trained and did NOT follow the proper procedures.
The bank hired a thief, did not train him properly, and I have to pay the consequences.
The bottom line is, I am missing $ 500 from my mom’s funeral fund.
If I do not hear back from Citibank within a couple of day, I am switching to a more reputable and honest bank.

Compared to Citibank Singapore, this place is heaven.
I came in on an early Saturday morning to open a US Citibank account as I hear it plays nicely with Citibank’s SG accounts (aka no fee money transfer, although they still get you on the forex conversion).
Steven C greeted me and was very knowlegeable and courteous. He helped me in just about an hour to open an account, sign up for a CC, sign me up to the online portal, and point me to some good Mexican food in the neighborhood, haha.
