Of all of the Orange county food events, this one is one of the best! We are waiting for the date to be posted for the 2014 event. Fullerton Uncorked is well planned and well organized. You enter and are given a glass and plate with glass hook so you can always have a free hand. Every food vendor has a different wine– or beer– sample so there is definitely something for everyone. The food vendors feature most local venues so it is a great way to try all of the local food. The parking lot is also filled with taxi’s waiting at the end of the night just in case because after this event, nobody should be driving home.

I was lucky enough to receive an invitation from Roy B. to attend this event. First of all I never have heard about Fullerton Uncorked, nor been at the Fullerton Arboretum, so no expectations… Getting there the environment was fun and vibrant! We were greeted with champagne(or sparkling wine as the experts would say) by many nice and attentive volunteers. Everybody was super friendly and welcoming. They gave us a well designed black plate, something like this:
and here we were, ready to walk in the road that leads to temptation… There were so many good Fullerton restaurants that it was so hard to chose where to start… The smell was awesome!!! Diet, see you Monday :) :) :) We tried so many different and delicious things that if I start mentioning them I start getting hungry and today is Monday :( Also there was great wine and beer, and since I had my «I Love Lucy» moment I decided to make some friends in that area :) Music was great, they have a cover band that kept most of the guest singing and dancing, between classic and southern rock and some country(I don’t know anything about country but everybody seemed to enjoy it) For once I wasn’t happy camera, I was too busy eating, drinking, balancing the plate and walking in an uneven surface… so sorry, I have to steal pics from Roy :) Really cool event, if you can attend next year do it, is so much fun! and the best part is that their proceeds go to a good cause, that makes it even better. Highly Recommended! Thank you Roy for inviting me, had a great time! :)

I had purchased a couple of tickets for the annual Fullerton Uncorked Food and Wine Tasting Extravaganza many months ago and had completly forgotten about them. Luckilly while going thru some paperwork I stumbled across them again. I called up a Unilocal bud Lili H to see if she’d like to go. We agreed to meet the the next evening for the festivities. The charity event for Boys & Girls club, Fullerton Arboretum, and other local chatities was held at the beautiful Fullerton Arboetum at CSUF. It was a much larger event than I had imagined having never attended one of the past events. We walked in and were greeted buy a group of folks and were given an odd triangular plate with a hole on one end and a wine glass that was immediatly filled with champagne to toast the start of our evening’s foods and fun. Within a few more paces we approached the first of many food vendors but my nose was quickly detoured to another by the smell of BBQ smoke. Big B’s BBQ and Carl Strauss Brewing had were my first choice of many great food, and beverage picks. We wandered from food booth to wine stand to another food booth back to the wine stand repeatidly throught the course of the night. And what a night, an awesome full moon lit up the night and bands played music for our dining pleasure. We tasted, Italian, Asian, American, Latin and English fares from dozens of local eateries an and drinking establishments. This was truely a fantastic spread as you could get a slice of lasagne and a quail egg to go with your pinot or a ceveche taco, and some tasty sangria. Want BBQ and a beer? Or maybe take a break with a cigar before having som lobster bisque? More wine you say? Shure why not, the vino was flowing steady all night with a great many red and white varieties. I had to take a picture of this. But was having too much fun to take many others. The list of food vendors I remember is short(must have been the wine) so see the Fullerton Uncorked web site for a listing. I got to hand it to the Fullerton South Rotary Club they put on a first class shindig. I’m going to pencil it in for next year for sure. You’d be smart to do the same.
