I’ve stopped by the Promenade nearly every day for the last 7 years, mainly to purchase smokes and/or beer. The owner, Vesal, and his only employee, Kamran, are wonderful people, beloved by their patrons. I stop by even if I don’t need to buy anything. Kamran was a luthier in Iran and has made hundreds of santurs(Persian hammered dulcimers). Vesal wrote and published a book recently, in Farsi. If I ever quit smoking and/or drinking, I’ll buy v-8 juice and bottled water there. The prices are only slightly inflated compared to a supermarket, and the culture is incomparable. It’s a local fixture worth supporting.

Went in here to pick up some string cheese for a snack. I asked the dude behind the counter(the owner) where the string cheese was and he said he didn’t know what I was talking about… so I look to the left in the little fridge thing and low and behold… a box of string cheese just sitting there. So I picked one up and paid for it, and the dude behind the counter said, «so what do they call this… string cheese?» I answered«yes» then paid and left…

This is a little janky convenience store downstairs from my apartment complex. It has come in handy for some staple items in a pinch, when I am too lazy to drive to the grocery store. The selection isn’t all that great and most things are overpriced, but they sell beer, and I drink beer. Therefore I will always love this place. Thank you for existing Promenade Market!
