Scout Pest Management

I’ve been using Scout (Berrett Pest Control) for years and I’m very pleased with their services.
They are always on time, and flexible when I make an appointment. Rarely have I had an on going issue with bugs, they get the job done the first time. Customer Service is outstanding!

If there was a choice for no stars, That is what I would select for Scout Pest Management. Unfortunately, it’s not because of the actual pest management, it’s because of the company billing practices. When Berrett became Scout, they told us every 3 months that we hadn’t paid. Every time we had to prove our online payment. When we decided not to use them any longer because of spending time proving payment, we gave the representative a check, in his hand, for the final payment in June. We received a second notice bill for the payment in October???
I called and once again had to prove payment, only to be told that the check was credited to the December payment which we had missed (according to them). We had already proved December payment. Brittany put me on hold to check on December, came back and said, okay, we’ll credit you for December… we received it. No apology for screwing up every billing period and making us spend our time going through accounts to prove a payment was made.
Disgusting company.

I purchased the Groupon, discussed possible options, and scheduled a date for the company to come out. When they arrived, I was unfortunately out of the house, my wife contacted the agent and the agent stated we had worked out the details and asked my wife to sign the work order. Details had not been agreed on but my wife signed anyways. That wouldn’t be a big ordeal, I believe she signed for one visit every few months. Ok sure. Not even two weeks later, 10 days actually, another visit from scout while my family and I were out. They sprayed, left a note on the front door, and charged us another 85 dollars. I contacted their office who stated it was a follow up and it was mandatory. They also continued to say they did the service I need to provide payment and «your wife signed the agreement it’s a binding contract and could not be changed.» please stay away from this company. I do not recommend them or their shady business practices.

I purchased the indoor and outdoor spray from the company hoping to get rid of an ant and spider problem. The guy who came was a really nice but he did a poor job. Not sure that was really his fault as it was company policy. But he came in and said he could only spray baseboards where there is no furniture. But all houses have furniture and that is usually where the bugs lie. They said it would take two hours implying they would do thorough job. Be he literally took 15 minutes. After he left we saw no different. I felt like I should rather gone out and bought bug spray and would have done a better job. Save your money. Don’t get swindled by them. You can see by their rating that most people think the do a poor job.

Scout came out and did the outside/​inside of my home on a Groupon special. When I scheduled, I told the receptionist to have them leave info on regular treatments, as I would not be home when the came, but my 2 adult children were here. Nothing was left, and I have not seen a single dead bug. I have seen several live ones though. I am glad I did not sign up for additional treatments. My «paperwork» also says,“no warranty”.

Rob/​Scout did a great job for us. So accommodating and friendly. The receptionist took great notes and the technician came well prepared and already familiar with our needs. He was also sweet with the kids and good about making adjustments for our pets. I will definitely use them again for future pest control management.

I, like the others: used a Groupon. They talked us into a one-​year contract. Had to have them come out multiple times because ants still everywhere. Always an excuse that… it was unusually hot; that it takes «a while» for the ants to feed on the bait. All the while ants everywhere, as if no treatment done at all after two weeks. Have guests coming and the last thing I want are these pests where I’m cooking. Told them we used to live in the desert (much hotter than OC), and our pest service got rid of the ants after first treatment and ants are everywhere in the desert. We got out of the contract.

I have been a customer of Scout (Berrett-​Talega) for seven years. I have been one hundred percent happy with them. They are super reliable and have been there for any rat or ant problem I have encountered. My service tech, Ryan, always calls the night before his arrival so I can put my dogs inside. He is always there when he says he is going to be which is pretty much never heard of.

We have been a very happy customer for several years. Yorba Linda has an ant problem, but thanks to Scout, we never have an issue. We have also needed a couple of mole removals over the years, one call and it was taken care of. Very professional and friendly, highly recommend their services!

Read Chad O’s review below this one. I experienced the same level from this company. Purchased a Groupon because I had ants. The tech who gives you a two hour window took all of 20 minutes spraying the outside and inside my house. Ants were still there the next day.
Contacted Scout to ask about a warranty and was told because I did not not purchase their maintenance plan there was no warranty.
Contacted Groupon and they refunded the price because I paid for services that were not delivered.

I should have read these reviews before buying the Groupon. It was obviously a ploy to try and force us into buying one of their maintenance plans. $ 45 down the damn drain, the last time we had this done (for a $ 30 groupon I might add) the company came out and spent at least a good 30 mins spraying in and outside of the house. We didn’t see ants for over a year after that. Well Scout comes out, makes you sign several sheets stating you refused their maintenance plan and there are no warranties on the work. Then spent all of about 5 minutes spraying. I don’t think a single ant died, they are swarming even worse then before. Such a waste of $ 45 on a worthless company.

I began service through a groupon special and all had been going fine until I began to take advantage of their offer for treatment In between regularly scheduled visits at no additional charge. There turned out to be a significant charge and They claimed I misunderstood, which I didn’t, and offered to put me back on my original service every other service but it would cost me almost twice as much. This was of course comical and motivated me to cancel service. There are many many options out there for pest control service and this company is not your best option by far.

Such a friendly company! I haven’t seen one spider since we started service They are always willing to go above and beyond. I even get a courtesy call the day prior to service.

Scout/​Berrett pest management started off great! They came on time, did what they needed to do and left. however I continued to see bugs! I called about 7 days later and they said that the bugs were just coming out to die. Well fast forward to two and three weeks, still bugs everywhere! I called and they said «sorry, we can’t honor a treatment because you bought through groupon and didn’t sign up for monthly treatments so there was nothing they could do!» Really?! Your first treatment didn’t do anything and you won’t come out to fix the problem! Nice. never again!

I purchased the groupon. They never showed up. Blamed a computer glitch. David would provide zero follow up. They offered to come out the next day however i think they expect me to take days off work to wait for them. I finally spoke with Nicole who was fairly hostile and seemingly unconcerned by the horrible customer service. They now call themselves scout pest control. I had the groupon refunded.

We have used Berrett Pest Management for almost 10 years. We had tried all the major pest control companies and we continued to have ant problems. After the very first service, our problem was gone although all our neighbors that still used other companies continue to have ant and spider problems. Very polite service people and in ten years, we have only needed to have the inside of our house sprayed twice. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Technician was right on time, friendly and took extra care with problem areas I mentioned. In reading some of the other reviews, I’m wondering if they are talking about a different company. My experience has been nothing but pleasant and I am very pleased with the work that was done. I would definitely recommend Berrett.
