This place is so fun. Dive bar but I prefer it over the rat race in DTF! That’s Downton Fullerton not the other DTF. lol. They have karaōke Wednesday thru Sunday. The crowd is a combo of younger peeps, older, and everything in between. Drinks and good and inexpensive. Too bad the best bartender, Dayle, is leaving:(

any karaōke bar that has plenty of RIchard Cheese in its library, gets FIVESTARS!!! plus the bartender, Laura, was great. She remembered me after i hadn’t been in the bar in quite some time. AND she made a mean Jack and Coke. But it wasnt too strong where you only taste the whiskey. sometimes jack on the rocks with a splash of coke is good, but not when you just want to enjoy your night and not get trashed right away. She always came down to the end of the bar where i was sitting to make sure i was doing ok and if i needed another drink, and just to chit chat for a minute or two. ive read several reviews on here about her and most of them werent good. people have bad days, they must have caught her on a bad day. if you happen to read this Laura, great job. im the one who had on the Blues Brothers shirt last nite. i definately will be back, Sunset Lounge will become one of my regular karaōke and chill spots. if you’re a singer and like to get plenty of chances to sing… go on a Sunday night. Usually a light, but steady crowd. Alot of regulars, but they make the casual customer feel welcome. ok, ive rambled on enough… until next time!

You know, normally I don’t post things on Unilocal nor do I really care about the reviews that are posted on here, but after reading the constructive criticism from Kimmi about«the KJ being a dick», I feel I must respond… Karaōke has been going on at the Sunset Lounge for close to 12 years under my watch and I’ve had the same rules for signing up and singing for that same amount of time. The singer signs up, maintains their spot in the rotation as long as A singer keep putting in slips and is called in the order of submission and can only sing once per rotation(including if they are involved in a group and duet song). If they’re a first time time singer they are place at the end of the current rotation(much like a Queue line at an amusement park– you wait your turn) Kimmi was called up to sing but did not respond nor was she even in the bar. My policy is to skip them one singer and then try them again(singers are sometimes outside smoking or in the bathroom and don’t hear me calling them) The second time I called her, still she was nowhere in the bar which would now place her at the end of the current rotation. As I reach the end of that rotation, I walked outside before I was about to call her to see if she was still around(as I knew she had, come with somebody that I knew and had been a customer long ago) . Nope. She still was MIA. Being that it was the now end of the rotation, I started over(it was about 14 person rotation). 15 minutes and 5 singers into the new rotation, Kimmi walked over to me and asked me when she was up and that she had been waiting for a long time to sing. When I told her that I tried calling her three times and that we had started the rotation over again she would be up in about three or four more people(because I kept place in line on the new rotation(even though she had missed her turn and via our three strikes rule she should’ve been removed from the rotation and less she signed up again). She snarled at me with«Are you f@&King serious!!!» To which I replied«yes I’m sorry but I called you three times and we started a new rotation. But you’ll be up in 3» she walked away and when I reached her turn(again), she was nowhere to be found and had left the bar angry enough to leave her constructive criticism on Unilocal. Rules for signing up for karaōke are very clear and and printed in the book. I try to do my best to accommodate all of my singers in a fair manner which is why Sunset Lounge has been the #1 karaōke venue in Orange County for the last 12 years and if I only have two bad reviews(The other one was because of a song that I didn’t have that a person insisted on singing and then Unilocal that I would let them sing the song because I didn’t like the song– No. I didn’t have the song) on Unilocal in 12 years I must be doing something right. Being that I cannot respond to the complaint posted directly to her. I found it necessary that for anyone wanting to have a good time with one of the biggest(and legal) selections of karaōke in Orange County, A fair rotation, fantastic bartenders and service, and the feeling of coming to a Hometown bar full friendly people should be fully aware of the the incident that prompted the unfounded and negative actions and comments stated on here Unilocal. Thanks for reading Christopher Hruby Hrubyinkaraoke PS I’m giving myself five stars for Because actually wasn’t being«a dick».

This was thee worst karaōke I’ve ever experienced. The crowd was dull and the KJ was a dick.

Raunchy dive bar. I don’t get the big deal about this place. I went to hang out with friends and shoot billiards but was pretty disgusted. There were a bunch of flies around the light above the tables. They would land everywhere including the beer. Not cool

I’ve been here more times than I can count and I’ll never go back. I’ve never been treated so rudely by a bartender before. I’m always polite to bartenders and I always try to tip well. They have a hard job and I have complete respect for them. The bartender(short, dark, wavy hair) was downright rude and that’s putting it politely. If you don’t like your job, get a new one. I won’t even get into the details because it’s not worth my time or energy.

Just want to say if anyone is thinking about visiting this place you might want to consider waiting for a little change in staff. Unless you are an ass kisser or long-time friend of the bartender that we had last night. I believe her name is Liz you definitely will not be getting good service. I used to go to this bar a few years back and now I remember why I stopped going there .the bartenders usually tend to be very rude. So last night I went out with my wife and her good friend for Mother’s Day. When I go out anywhere with my wife I am usually the one driving. I will have one or two beers maybe a shot the whole night I’m out. I’ll never ever really get a buzz. So anyways we were greeted nicely, she got us each a beer. Mind you we didn’t pre-game, this was our first one. My wife asked for another beer while she had the lady’s attention knowing that they always take along time to get back to you. She finished her first beer and put it on the edge for cleanup. The bartender walks over and says did you need another beer? obviously my wife had a brand-new full beer that the lady just gave her. My wife told her no thank you, I’ll get another after I drink this one. And she went on to tell my wife that the edge of the bar is where you put your Empty Bottle if you are ready for another beer, and you gotta have it a little bit back if just want your Empty picked up. I guess we kind of missed the sign for disposal of your glass bottles. So now we were all out we’re having a good time trying to ignore this lady’s attitude and my wifes friend that was with us is always a little loud. That’s just the type of person she is we were all a little loud we’re just having a good time because it’s been a while since any of us have had the opportunity to get out like that. So my wife’s friend gets the bartender’s attention and orders a kamikaze. And me just playing around cut her off and told her no Shots tonight don’t want you getting too loud. And the bartender says oh my gosh maybe I shouldn’t have given you that last beer. Taking my comment as in she’s already drunk. Anyone with half a brain could tell she was far from drunk. And I explained to her no no I’m just kidding I don’t want her starting on shots cuz I don’t want her getting too buzzed and getting extra loud. And I said please give us two Kamikaze shots. So she goes to the very end of the bar to pour the drinks behind the little refrigerator where we couldn’t really see her pouring them. I know exactly what a kamikaze shot is supposed to be. She brings back to kamikazes in a shot glass not the smaller little glass that they always come in. I asked her is this a kamikaze and she said yes it is. I said you guys always serve them in a shot glass. She said yes. so we took our shots. After taking my shot I noticed there was not even a hint of alcohol in my drink. I told the lady to give me my money back for them cuz I know for sure there was not alcohol in it. She was trying to pull a smooth one on us because she thought my friend was already drunk. She told me she is not giving me my money back that there was vodka in the drink. And I explained to her I know that this is not how a Kamikaze is made and I know you do not put a mixed drink into a shot glass a shot glass is for Pure alcohol. She said that’s the way she always does it and thats the way all the other bartenders do it. I’m really disappointed once again in the way the bartenders at Sunset Lounge treat their customers unless you are a frequent flyer. I was thinking that I would try and find the owner. I know he comes sometimes in the evening to close. I feel like my money was stolen from me. if you think someone is too drunk then just tell them you aren’t going to serve them, don’t give them some syrup and charge them full price for it. I seriously feel like I was stolen from and will not be returning to this bar ever again. The bartender’s job is to keep their customers happy and keep a drink in their hand. This girl spent most of the time talking with everyone and unless you notice her look at you chances of getting another drink within the next 15 minutes are slim to none. they should constantly be looking around and coming over and checking on you. This lady misunderstood us having a good time for being drunk probably because she is a miserable person. If you don’t like your job dealing with the people that come in or watching people have fun while you are not then get another job.

It is more like a 3.5, because dive bars can be fun. It is dirty and needs many upgrades, but the prices reflect that. Great Karaōke on a Saturday night. The real adventure is the weekday afternoon crowd that always seems to be between jobs and needs to have a beer or cocktail after their second job interview of the week.

A cheesy dive bar with cheap drinks and karoake so I’m in! The only complaint that it would be nice if karoake was separate or at the end of the bar so it wouldn’t be soooooo loud and you could have a conversation.

Please if you grabbed my Columbia jacket tonight(12⁄11) If you can drop off my key at the Bar it would make my life better. It’s in the inside zipper pocket. It’s my only key and to replace it, it will cost me $ 700 I left my number with the bartender. Please, I’m already hurting for the holidays. Thank you, Charlie A.

As far as dive bars go, this hidden gem is five star well make that 4.5 only because there is a kitchen being abandoned in the back. But the days that the bartender known as laura is working the place gets a zero. She is not a bartender, she spends her time there on the phone(ive seen on both hers as well as the bar phone), even goin as far as turning the music down(near off) because of it. She is snarky and inattentive, but i enjoy this little secluded dark lost in time bar so much i still go.(tryin to avoid when she is working now). The sad part is, this opinion is held by quite a number of the oldtimers and regulars. Judge for yourself tho, they have karaōke almost every night and i like the eclectic crowd, but two stars given due to this winner.

Went there last night for a birthday celebration. It’s a really cool spot! It was karaōke night and so much fun! The crowd was great, full but not too crowded was able to sang a table to put all the drinks on. Little dance floor if you wanted to boogie to the karaōke jams. Perfect little ‘dive’ bar…

This is the bar to go to if you want to have a good time. Other bars in the area have a creepy vibe or are full of douches but this is a place that is filled with good people that just want to have fun. If I lived closer than 40 miles from this place, this would absolutely be my go-to bar. $ 3 beers, 50 cent string cheese, great bartenders. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. The karaōke here is on point. But don’t tell your douchey friends about this place.

Recently we’ve been coming in here more often, primarily because of Lori, a great bartender. No matter how crowded it gets, I can’t remember ever having an empty bottle for more than 15 or 20 seconds. Although after a few beers, my memory might be a little less than stellar. She knows her drinks too but more importantly she knows people. She’s able to get people to interact and get to know each other. When we go in now it feels like we’re going to a friend’s party. We usually try to make it in for the Friday Happy Hour from 4 — 6, $ 1 off beer and drinks. The regular cast of characters are very friendly and can be quite entertaining. Great service, great prices, great place to play pool, play darts, play music, party hardy or just hang out and take the edge off. Thanks Lori.

It’s a divey, fun, and casual spot. Drink offerings are simple, decent, and reasonably priced. The taco truck that stops there late at night gives this place some extra bonus points. The crowd is casual, chill, and diverse without one demographic dominating. It’s a welcoming place that provides some comical entertainment if you enjoy drunk people making asses of themselves attempting karaōke, and you might even actually hear someone that has a little bit of talent. Good vibe in this dive. One of the better places to get a casual late night drink in the area.
