Excellent experience. Friday lunch take out. 1 link boudin — $ 2.25 1 brisket plate w 3 sides & white bread– $ 11 ½ lb. cracklins, split regular and smoked — $ 7 So, $ 20 total got me enough food for 2 ppl or 2 light meals. The smoked cracklins are INCREDIBLE! Brisket was very good– very moist. Better than other nearby options. Sides were all above average, and the boudin link was very good too. Their bbq sauce was different– kinda chunky almost but I really liked it. Dude says they do crawfish on Saturdays and the gumbo looked really good too, so I gotta go back. Recommend you give it a try.

Having lived in S LA for several years, and traveling I-10 to/from MS regularly, I have become aware of the«go-to» places for comfort foods. Today I tried the cracklins, pralines, and oatmeal cookie at C’est Cheaux for the first time. Cracklins — I had the Regular as they were sold out of the Smoked and Hot n Spicy. As good as I have had. Warm and fresh with just enough spices. Delicious. Cost is similar to other locations. Please note, that out of a bag from a convenience store just does not do cracklins justice… Praline — these were good, not great. Not too sweet which I appreciate, but a little gritty. I like those I get from some of the well known locations in the French Quarter better, but this is certainly a personal preference. These are however a great value as they are large. Oatmeal Cookie — not cajun haha, but it was at the counter and looked good(dammit). I got the one without raisins. Not too sweet and chewy as it should be. I liked it, but again, a personal preference. Service quick(I was the only one in there but it was around 3pm) and counter person very personable.

I was born and raised in southeast Louisiana and all their food taste just like what I grew up with on the bayou. Seriously, its just like my grandma’s cooking. The owners are from Houma, Louisiana and they are very nice. If you want real cajun food this is the place. Fresh crackling you never find anywhere, gumbo and crawfish.

I gave it one and that was only to get the rating viewable to the public. I’ve been eating crawfish for 15yrs and these were by far the absolute worst! Super small, over priced($ 6.99/lb) and everything cooked was overdone! Crawfish over-cooked, potatoes over-cooked, corn over-cooked. Got to try hot potato salad(temperature hot, that was a first, more like hot mashed potato salad). Asked the waiter for some lemon, he brings a lemon to my table– uncut, and hands it to me like I won something. I was confused, how did he expect me to cut it, or why would I even have to do that?!? Every item I paid for was a complete waste of money. Nothing against a small businesses trying to make it, but at least give me what I pay for.

The restaurant has a weird smell. Gumbo leaves something to be desired. Only open weird hours. Try the cracklins. I hear they’re good.

What an absolute pleasure. The ambience is akin to a Shipley’s however the food is equivalent to the French Quarter. Boudin is homemade and probably some of the best I’ve ever had and equivalent to anyplace in Broussard, Opelousas or New Iberia, LA. The gumbo(Chicken and Sausage only) is a light roux but extremely flavorful, well seasoned and heaped with ingredients. The remainder of the plates(apparently Barbecue) I saw coming out of the kitchen looks and smelled wonderful and undoubtedly good reason to return. The prices are quite reasonable given the quality of food. Don’t overlook this place.

OH the cracklins are soooooo good!!! I could eat em all day! They are just like the ones we get on our trips through Louisiana! I loved the sausage and the gumbo, too. The only problem I had was that everything was a little too spicy for me :(That being said, I went to the owner, Stacey, about this and she was very kind with the criticism and appreciated the feedback. She said she had heard this from a few people being that the demographic in this area is quiet different from back home. She said she is really looking into changing up the recipes but still be true to the authentic flavors of Creole cuisine. I will certainly be a regular patron when she does, until then I will stick with the cracklins :)

Tried now twice. Previous reviews are accurate that they need someone better running the counter. The poor girl constantly has to go to the back to get the older lady to come and show her where something is. The first time we spent probably 10 minutes trying to order before she figured it out. We were followed by another family we had the same anguishing experience. Food is okay, but nothing to get overly excited about. Gumbo was especially watery. The reason I won’t be going back is just due to food handling. Today while waiting on my order I watched the girl who works the counter go the the hot plate to the left as you walk in the back and proceed to reach in to a plate of what I assume are the cracklin’s and scoop them out with a dish. Never once did she was her hands and she had just handled money from another customer. This happened several times. And then she dropped some cracklins on the counter and they bounced off of her shirt. She simply picked them up with her bare hands and placed them into the bag anyway. She even turned and saw me looking and it still did not phase her.

We finally visited C’est Cheaux and we were very pleasantly surprised. The food was outstanding. We had the gumbo, crackling(I have never liked this but their smoked version was delish), shrimp po boy, hot link and potatoe salad. Everything was yummy and we will go back there again and again. The restaurant is very casual but the food is worth it.

Food is great! Simple menu and not over priced! Exactly what Fulshear needed. Family run business with the Dad in the back cooking and the sister helping out! Gumbo, Po’boy’s and Jambalaya were all great!

My wife and I tried the Gumbo and it was great. My wife really liked it and I did too. Only thing I could say otherwise to that comment is having the gumbo a little darker but it just simply preference. The original cracklins are delicious as well! Really interested in trying out the oyster Poboys to see how they are. Hopefully as good or even better than the gumbo! Looking forward to having a good Cajun place around the house I can count on quality-wise! They have a big patio they’re repairing and should be great for crawfish season!

Authetic Louisiana dishes such as gumbo, shrimp poboys, and specialty meats including smoked ribs, cracklin, boudin and sausage. Finally right here in Texas.

Untrained staff manning the counter — we ordered the Boudin but were told we couldn’t have French fries unless we ordered a sandwich. Interaction with staff at counter was like pulling teeth because they obviously had little or no training before being placed in front of customers. I give this place 3 months…
