This is the best Japanese restaurant in the area! The fried rice is tender and flavorful. The portions are satisfying. The lunch menu offers most of the options available on the dinner menu at very affordable prices. The cooks are friendly and great showmen. We usually ask for extra vegetables and are never disappointed. We always have a great experience at Stix!

Just driving through, saw Stix from the highway and stopped! Was a good choice! Had the bang bang chicken because of reviews and it was great! Sushi was pretty good 6 out of 10. Service was great!

I have eaten at Stix 2 before and it has not been bad but it is very dirty and I don’t think I will be going back. The food was«ok» and usually when you sit at one of the grills they serve you way too much food ex: the«chef» kept serving me rice and I told him I did not need anymore but he continued to give me more and more rice until my plate was filled over I am not impressed by this and unfortunately the whole place is a little unappetizing for me.

OK. This is not necessarily grade-A sushi or menu food, but the overall is why I gave it 4 stars. The service is good, the sushi, while not the best I have ever had, is consistently enjoyable and the atmosphere is predictable. There is something to be said for reliability.

Decent place for lunch. 3 people was $ 65 before the tip. We had 2 sushi rolls, the General’s chicken plate, and the appetizer sampler with 2 ginger salads. Not the best or worst we’ve had. The ginger dressing was tasty, but very thin.

I went to Stix for the first time today, having had good experiences at the Stix in Hoover. Now that I live in Gardendale I expected an equally good experience. Unfortunately not. My dining partner and I ate on the non-hibachi side. As another reviewer noted, it was FILTHY: dirty floors; fingerprinted and grease stained woodwork everywhere; dirty walls; dirty fabric on the booths. Much of the wait staff was clad in faded black clothing. If filth is readily apparent in the dining areas, I can only imagine the kitchen. I did not attempt the rest room and didn’t have the moral fiber. I ordered chicken pad Thai and it was– average. The sauce was exactly like pad Thai everywhere else, but the noodles were hard(undercooked). While the vegetables looked fresh, several of the scallions had notably«off» flavors. There is no excuse for average pad Thai at an Asian restaurant. This one compared badly to Surin or Tapei 101 in Birmingham, and California Pizza Kitchen in Hoover back when it was on their menu. Our waiter was fast and friendly, but his fingernails were dirty and he was oily and sweaty; mighty unappetizing. I realize that waiting tables is hard and kitchens are hot, but please… This place was and is not a «do over;» a candidate for Restaurant Rescue, perhaps…

This Stix is by far our favorite location and I live in Hoover. This is not a review for the Hibachi side! We always sit on the Chinese/Thai side near the bar. Or at the bar, which has two TVs flanking both sides. We almost always get an order of bang bang chicken for an app. It’s comparable to the bang bang shrimp flavor at other nice restaurants. The hot and sour soup is another favorite with big pieces of chicken and shrimp and packed with flavor! For entrees, the spicy basil is delic with lots of veggies. The mongolian beef is also a fav, sauce is just right! We are also a fan of the red dragon roll which has a drop of sriracha on the top. We almost always ask for extra spicy on all of our dishes and they have gotten it right every time! The restaurant also has a clean appearance and we have never had a problem with service!

Food was just ok. Not worth the money. Price was high compared to other JAPANESE steak houses.

Not for the sushi connoisseur. I tried this restaurant twice for sushi and both times it was terrible

Just not good in any way. The sushi was ok but extremely overpriced. I eat sashimi at least once a week and have never paid any where near what this place charges. I ordered a salad that was supposed to come with some sort of vinaigrette dressing. What came out was basically a sweet and sour sauce and it wasn’t a mistake. Also, the coconut soup was just bad. Finally, my wife had the cashew chicken but only took about 4 bites. I never post reviews because I generally don’t want to say anything bad but in this case, I had to. Stay away.

I prefer Sumo as far as hibachi goes, but this Stix is satisfactory when it comes to sushi. It’s not the best, and it’s not the worst. They have quite a few new offerings on the non-grill side of the menu, and maybe one day I will try some of those. I was happy to learn that this would be one of the restaurants moving into Fultondale, but now that the new has worn off, it’s just not one of those places I get excited about.

This is only our third time eating at Stix. We are not connoisseurs of Asian cuisine nor are we big fans of teriyaki or sushi. SO the first two times when we ate at the hibachi grill I thought it was just OK… enjoyed the entertainment, the soup, and especially that sauce they serve. My husband didn’t really care for it at all, especially since he doesn’t eat the soup or fried rice. This time we decided to try the restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the extended selection of Asian cuisine… Japanese, Chinese, look at… no wait… Thai. We ordered the calamari. I loved the crispy and slightly peppery crust. The calamari wasn’t too rubbery, though there were a couple of pieces that didn’t want to be two-biters. My husband only eats sesame chicken from Chinese take out, isn’t adventurous enough to try a Thai noodle plate, and thought paying $ 20 for a hibachi plate that he knew he wouldn’t like was too high. Thankfully he spotted the Spicy Thai Beef Salad which has sliced steak, red onion, cucumbers, and tomatoes on a bed of greens with a spicy lime sauce. The sauce was spicy but not overwhelming with flavor and the waitress offered some extra lime wedges to boost the flavor. he said it was something he’d definitely get again. I got the Thai Chicken Noodle Bowl and requested it spicy. Grilled chicken with a curry sauce, rice noodles, cilantro and green onions. I thought it was very good. The sauce was flavorful, the extra spice was perfect, chicken tender, and the portion generous. Not only was the food good but the service was wonderful. Our waitress was also covering the bar but still attentive to her tables. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and really hospitable.

Pretty decent sushi but the environment is along the lines of a Chili’s and its overpriced BUT it’s the closest sushi place to our house so we will be back I’m sure many times.

Stix, Fultondale, Al, restaurant is the best place ever to eat. I love the atmosphere, the staff, the great drinks! It’s really a place where you can get to know your waitress/waiters. I want to say a big thank you to 2 of my new friends that are both waitress’ there… Chrissy and Mary Catherine… aka MC. You both took the time to help me get through a time of hurt. By your kindness my night turned out great. Most places don’t even attempt to know more than a person’s order, let alone someone feeling very sad. But not at this location of the Stix franchise. Thanks once again to everyone there for a great time. We’ll be seeing you soon. Oh by the way, best onion soup ever along with the ginger salad. Great job my friends.

I travel a lot, mostly in the South East. I enjoy Sushi and try to find it where I go. Never did I think that Alabama would have a quality Sushi bar. No disrespect to Alabama, I love the state especially the Gulf Coast. I decided to have dinner at Stix and it was the best. I sat at the Sushi Bar and watched the Itamae prepare my order with great care and precision. It was a piece of art that was edible. The Nigiri was so fresh and the rolls were delicious. I highly recommend that you put this on your list of places to eat. I keep a list of my favorites resteraunts in my iPhone and this will be added.

Stix of Fultondale has excellent sushi, and their ginger salad is the best. The tuna tartare is also super yummy(and beautiful). We do not eat on the grill side, so I cannot review the hibachi offerings. I have, however, tried the fried rice and the shrimp curry, and both were very, very tasty… I just like to stick with the sushi here because it is so good. Service can be a little slow at times, but the friendliness of the wait staff makes up for it. My husband and I visit this location at least once a month. Highly recommend.

I was not overly impressed at this place. The waitstaff was extremely young and did not know their alcohol. I ordered a gin and tonic and the young lady taking our order did not know what that was. The food was very typical and not very impressive. The chicken was actually a bit dry. It was a fun atmosphere but I was not too impressed with the food. I had the chicken and steak hibachi.

Thinking that I could escape from the bbq and fried foods of the South, I decided to venture to Stix for some Asian Fusion cuisine. I ended up ordering their specialty Treasures of the Sea rather than going with my gut feeling that I should stick with something off the grill. The dish was full of lobsters, shrimps, and scallops, but unfortunately to say, I think it could have been better. The flavor of the sauce didn’t meld into the seafood as well as I had hoped. Some bites were bland while others were better. The thing that redeems this place for me is its wonton cobbler. I imagined that it would be good, but, boy was it good! I’ve been eating a lot of desserts a la mode these days, and I do think this tops the list for the week. Next time I’ll be sure to try the hibachi and sushi.
