Delicious! The lunch service can be a little slow so if you’re in a rush then you may want to order ahead.

Not sure what happened here, but any Latin American restaurant typically seasons its beans. This is really needed, especially when they are navy beans! It looked and tasted like they just opened a can and dumped them on the rice. The pernil was ok and platanos were ripe. Probably last time going here. Too bad

The food and coffee are pretty good, but I waited 45 minutes for a breakfast sandwich. The staff is nice, but they certainly don’t move with a sense of urgency.

Purchased a Livingsocial deal to try this place out on a Saturday night. Started off with an order of soup and a side of sweet plantains. I can’t tell you how the soup was because I never got it, maybe there was confusion since I was asking a question about it. As far as the plantains go, the waitress originally brought out plantain chips instead of the sweet plantains that we ordered. So, she ran back and brought out the side of sweet plantains which tasted like grease(this is probably due to the mix up and quick preparation). Drink choices, this place is BYOB so Boyfriend and I both got waters. Entrees: Boyfriend ordered the Empanada Platter served with rice & beans and a side salad which was not good at all(minus the salad). If a cigarette could transform into a food then it would morph into these beans, they were TERRIBLE. And, they were piled on top of the rice so it ruined that too. I am torn between 2 and 3 stars for this place because my entrée was delicious. I ordered the Steak Chimichurri Salad, the steak on top was tender and the chimichurri sauce was flavorful. What brought all of this together was the sofrito ranch dressing! It also came with 3 sweet plantains which were great, this is why I thought our initial order was rushed. I heard good things about the lasagna special so I would be interested in trying that but I would not eat here again due to the service taking forever. I recommend calling it in and having it delivered while you enjoy delicious beers at The Mill or The Fainting Goat.

Great food, great atmosphere, wait staff was very nice. Fun place and din’t feel rushed to leave after we were done eating. If you are impatient this is not the place for you, it’s not fast food.

Awesome little café in Fuquay, delicious Puerto Rican fare and friendly staff. I had the Cuban sandwich, perfection on a scrumptious roll. The Chips are the bomb diggity.

Nice small family style restaurant with a mush mash of decorations. Interesting bar made up of old wooden doors. Loved that they had mini game sets on each table which include games such as cards, dominoes, badminton, checkers, etc. the service friendly and welcoming, a little slow but well worth it. The food was very good. I especially loved their green sauce. Would definitely come again when visiting the area and highly recommend.

I liked the place and was really exciting being that I am Puerto Rican and Cuban, I can just sit down and someone can cook for me tonight. Very disappointed when I ordered the pernil not noticing(pork loin). It is my fault because I didn’t realize it BUT saying a food is pernil and pork loin comes out is so wrong. The reason pernil is called pernil is because it is pork shoulder shredded. The name shouldn’t be called pernil because that is not what it is, it’s like ordering a steak and then chop meat comes out yes it is still beef but don’t call it a steak then. Service was great.

Several people have recommended this place, and today I finally found the time to stop by. I’m so glad I did! Today I ordered a Cuban sandwich, which came with yucca chips. It was fantastic. The staff was nice, the price was moderate and my order was ready in a reasonable amount of time. Next time I’ll explore the retail area and have a dinner entrée. Hurray for tasty ethnic food in Fuquay!

Great food, nice fusion of Puerto Rican dishes and some fusion cuisine as well. Was pleasantly surprised to find this jewel in FV. Will definitely visit this restaurant again. Advise to owner: Hiring experienced waitresses is as important as serving great food an important part of the dining experience.

I wish I could give this place 5 stars because our food order was pretty good. It’s Cuban/Latin/Puerto Rican restaurant. The space can be utilized more effectively and make way for more tables if the massive bar didn’t take up half the space. As we walked in, it’s a little hard to figure out what kind of restaurant it is. It had a bit of a country type feel to it. I expected Latin décor, bright and delightfully tacky. In the back of the restaurant, they have a small store or flea market section? I’m not sure what they were selling but it seem to have Victorian type used clothing, jewelry and nowhere resembled the Latin Ambience I was expecting. We sat at a table and looked at our menu. It had a few appetizers, sandwiches and salads. I had the Sofrito Chicken Sandwich and my wife had a Chicken Salad Sandwich. What was odd was that I would have never expected to see Chicken Salad Sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches and Thai Chicken Salad in a Puerto Rican restaurant. Not at all Puerto Rican-ish in my eyes. Nevertheless, the sandwiches were great but what really made it was this green sauce on the side. You dip your yucca chips into it like ranch dressing and YUM! Then we got the WEPA sauce or home made hot sauce which we doused over our food. That made it even better. Overall, the food was yummy. Now, the reason why only three stars is this… it literally took almost 45 minutes to get our sandwiches. LITERALLY. There were only 4 other tables there which made the restaurant look packed since the bar took up the whole space. My wife and I watched as people sat waiting for checks, for food, for beverages. We received our soda and water in a Styrofoam cup and we never had it filled not once except for the first time. Not even the whimpering look that we gave our waitresses hinted them to the fact that we were literally dying of thirst. The young waitress stood by the bar and looked confused whenever a patron would come up and ask when they can finally get their bill, fill a drink or ask for their food. The sandwiches we ordered came out one at a time. In other words, my wife had hers and I had to wait another 5 minutes for mine. I’m no rocket scientist but either they were killing the cow and harvesting the grain for fresh bread or they are the slowest sandwich making restaurant I have EVER been to. After sitting at our table with our empty plates, we finally decided that the only means to exit and get our bill is by begging for it. So, we went to the bar and asked for it. The ladies seem nice but no offense, either they need to go back to serving 101 or hire another waitress if 5 tables is too much for 2 people to serve. On the way out, I was even more annoyed that I saw«specials» were on the chalkboard. What? No one told me about it or made a peep about other dishes not mentioned in the categorically small, sandwich, salad, country, Asian, Latin menu. With that, I felt robbed of my foodie experience…

Unfortunately I have to reduce my rating this time. Today I went with my mom and sister for lunch. The restaurant was about half full, which is emptier than it has ever been when I have gone in. I didn’t see either of the waitresses that have been working there forever, but there were a couple of newer ladies. It took forever to get our food. I tried the empanada platter, which has an empanada filled with seasoned ground turkey and potatoes, side salad, and rice and beans. One tostone for garnish is also included. The food was on point, as per usual. The service was not. Our waitress was friendly but inattentive. My cup ran empty several times, and my mom had the same problem. Even trying to flag someone down for a drink refill was an issue-it took a few times to get someone’s attention. The food was slow coming out and the side of tostones we ordered was lukewarm. When the place isn’t packed, there’s no excuse for slow service or having to flag someone down for drink refills more than once. I really love the food here, but the wait staff needs to step up their game.

Although this place have exceptional better food than everywhere else within a 5 mile radius, they should seriously reconsider change the name from The Meeting Corner to The Waiting Corner. Expect to wait at least 30 minutes before the food arrive during lunch hour, or better yet, call in a hour in advance. Overall, the food was delicious.

Have been quite a few times and the food is always amazing. The empanadas are my favorite as are the yucca chips and sweet plantains. Remember to take your own beer/wine as they do not serve it there and the wait staff is a little slow but there are cards on the table and a cute little shop in the back to pass the time.

Chilled cucumber and basil soup, cream cheese with roasted pepper open faced sandwich and plantos-chips. Too delicious to describe. You have to go to Meeting Corner to eat to believe it. Great service and comfortable seating. Authentic Spanish music.

Take your southern momma, southern home cookin’ and warm apple pie, make her Puerto Rican and drop her off in Fuquay and viola: The Meeting Corner. We’ve been here three times so far and they’ve been on point everytime. Excellent food, good coffee and a comfortable atmosphere. They’re busy so expect to wait. It’s worth it. The Cuban Sandwich is the best I’ve ever had. If you only get one hour for lunch, go somewhere else. This is not a place to pop in & out real fast. It’s a different kind of experience.

3 words; Organic salad people — Rare to find in a little southern town — Plantains just make me happy in general and the way Edna prepares them here are a little taste of heaven. Generous portions and all prepared with love. Truly homeade and you can taste it. The service was attentive and friendly and the food was really delicious. We will be back!

After having lived in Miami, FL for 15 years, let me first say that the reviewer who complained of «bland food» obviously doesn’t have the first clue about Cuban or Puerto Rican cuisine. This isn’t Mexican food — if you’re looking for spicy, go down the street to Los Tres Magueyes and order some nachos or something. That being said… First impression is kind of local art scene/divey. Much of the front half of the store/restaurant is given over to displays from local crafters and artisans(with a few dining tables and a coffee counter), while the back half is dedicated to the restaurant. Artwork for purchase hangs from just about every available bit of wall space, giving an interesting visual ambiance for your meal. Mismatched chairs add to the homey feel. Yes, the drinks were served in plastic Solo cups, but hey, you’re here to enjoy the food, not critique the china. My lady friend ordered the grilled cheese and tomato sandwich and I had the Cuban sandwich and a side order of black beans and rice. Both came with tostones and a very good Cuban-style garlic dipping sauce. The pan de agua was great, with that perfect bit of crustiness on the outside and a good chewiness on the inside. The frijoles negros were the best I’ve had since leaving Miami. All-around very good food. Total bill(including tip) came to around $ 30. Despite the sign advertising Puerto Rican food outside, most of the(somewhat limited) menu seems to be made up of Cuban dishes — the obligatory Cuban sandwich, empanadas, pastellitos, frijoles negros y arroz, etc. Don’t get me wrong — I LOVE Cuban food, but I’d like to see the menu expanded to offer a wider variety of traditional Latin dishes, such as croquetas de jamon, mofongo, arroz con gandules, ropa vieja, and masas de puerco. And what kind of Latin restaurant serves breakfast without including huevos y chorizo?

This place was worth the drive. I don’t come to Fuquay Varina often but when I do I will be coming back for this place! Part Cuban restaurant part local retail shop it’s amazing. My friend asked me to meet her here for lunch after she heard great things about the food. She’s mostly a vegetarian so I was expecting a heavy veggie friendly place which they do have options so it’s great but to my surprise these folks are putting out some darn good Cuban dishes. Everything they make is homemade and very fresh. We ordered up some fried green plantains, yuca chips, and veggie empanadas. These weren’t those little empanadas I’m use to getting this was a full meal and it was delicious. We definitely ordered way to much food but it was so good I couldn’t stop eating it. I would love to know what is in the sauce that they served with the plantains and yuca chips it was addicting. I found out they even have meal plans you can order every week for delivery or pick-up they have all kinds of options for different diets including low carb or vegetarian. All meals are prepared fresh and they order from local farms. Each meal is prepared so you can cook it in the oven or microwave, fresh food fast so smart! After we finished our meals we took a walk around to check out the place. There is a cute coffee shop in the back and the place is full of local artisans selling all kinds of different things. They also carry the chalk paint here which is hard to find. It’s really hard to describe how adorable this place is so you just need to go see it for yourself. Great concept, it’s crazy what you can find when you adventure out of town a bit! This place is a small town gem.
