Folks– when pork is cut into square chunks it is NOT pulled pork, such is the case with this place. Pruetts Pork is cut into small pieces. It is cut because it is tough and cannot be easily pulled off the bones ! Pulled pork is the result of long and slow cooking over hickory wood Fried squash was frozen and deep fried, slaw tasted ok, but just ok. Waitress was friendly, but had too many tables to provide much service.

Could have been better! The fried okra would have been better if they used pre-made frozen from the grocery store. The catfish filets were edible but nothing you couldn’t get better other places. Overall the food was decent but nothing to write home about. This place use to be the best place to get bbq and catfish now it’s just not. I don’t think they know how to use a salt shaker or they were just out of salt today. The one bright side is that you can’t go home thirsty they keep refilling the 40oz cups everyone you take a sip. Better places to go in Gadsden.

I really don’t get why people like this place so much. I have eaten here several times and each time left disappointed. On past trips, the fried vegetables were obviously straight out of the freezer section, baked beans out of a can(maybe a little«doctoring» but not much). Bleh. Today’s grilled chicken«salad» consisted of a moderate portion of chicken that tasted like nothing but Dale’s marinade, iceberg lettuce, four half-slices of tomato, four dill pickle slices, and pre-shredded cheese. They are always busy at lunch and the service suffers accordingly: not especially friendly or attentive. A runner took my drink order and delivered my food rather than the server. The overall impression is that they crank out barely acceptable, mass-produced food with no effort to improve it. The one exception I have found is the smoked chicken which was tender, moist, and nicely smoky. Still, I most likely won’t go back.

Almost always excellent. Food perfect. Too crowded at times. Parking lot is bad. Handicapped parking inadequate.

This place has a wide variety of food choices. Tried the BBQ mix plate and fried catfish. They were both pretty good. Friendly staff and fast service.

Came here with my dad. What the hell is it with people over 104 and eating here?! I got the chicken fried steak which I affectionately refer to as milksteak because it tasted like that paint huffer from that show made it. The gravy tasted like bad water and gin but that’s mainly because I had to keep washing it down with sips from my flask. That was really the only bad part of my time there other than the fact that the 1887 class reunion was being held there that Sunday. The waitress, Melissa I think, was in a rush but still catered to all my needs. She was great. My other food was also great and the sweet tea was perfect but for the love of God fix that milksteak.

My pastor highly recommended this BBQ place in scenic Gadsden. The place was very crowded at lunch, and we had to wait. That’s a really good sign. My choice was the pork and beef plate with potato salad and beans… my usual when I try BBQ. They only do ribs on Friday and Saturday:(The pork was a lot better than the beef. The pork was tender and moist and mixed well with the tangy BBQ sauce Pruett’s has. The sauce was a really good sauce… not really spicy… but full of flavor. It was a mix of ketchup and vinegar. However, the beef was a little too chewy for me. I also thought the sauce didn’t mix well with it. The beans were good with a sweet, mild flavor. Potato salad was a little chunky, with a light mayo — mustard taste. It was homemade, but I’ve had better. Now the one thing you need to know about Pruett’s is that it claims to be a BBQ place… and it is… but it is more of a country dinner. They have lunch specials of country cooking and vegetables. I love country cooking but what I have found, that places that claim to be BBQ, but also does country cooking… one or the other suffers. The pork and BBQ sauce at Pruett’s was really good and I can’t wait til I go back and have it again. So if you are a BBQ fan, stick with pork and if you are not, there are plenty of choices that you will find at Pruett’s.

Awesome Southern cuisine! Their BBQ and Brunswick stew are the best on town. And the servers are attentive and kind. Love this place.

Don’t come here for the bbq. The sauce is NOT good. The bbq is wet. The catfish is pretty good though. I am sure I won’t eat there again.

I really enjoyed my dinner at Pruett’s. The atmosphere was casual, if a bit hectic. I had BBQ pork, which was well made, though a little bit more vinegar/tart than the sweet stuff I am used to and end to prefer. Still extremely enjoyable. I also had Mac and Cheese which was excellent. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, and I will definitely make a point to visit again in the future!

Great pulled pork– and even though they don’t usually do this, they will give you burned ends(which I was used to in my hometown). Three words no matter what you get– SWEETPOTATOFRIES! Oh my lord, these are good. Perfectly soft inside and a lovely crisp on the outside– you’re crazy not to get them. Pruett’s is next door to the take-out Little Pruett’s but they were really accommodating when I unknowingly called in an order and didn’t just tell me know go next door. Price is great too! Only complaint is the lack of an online menu and corn nuggets…

Despite being in the heart of BBQ territory, Gadsden lacks a premium BBQ joint. Pruett’s food is solid, not great, but it gets high marks for service, price and for having a drivethrough for to-go orders which make it the best BBQ spot in town.

Passing through Gadsden? Then stop by here! The pulled pork won’t disappoint and the fried okra was to die for! Any time I will be back in Alabama, you will know where to find me!

We are regulars at Pruett’s and love the chicken fingers and the veggie plates. Wish they would change their daily specials or at least add a couple of options on the daily specials. We know exactly what they are having on special each day. We’d love to be offered more meat options on the specials. Pies are to die for! Not a fan of their BBQ, but the BBQ salads are great. However, we really enjoy going there, have made friends with several staff members and always given excellent service. Atmosphere is country/BBQ style and fun staff. Must try if in town.

I had lunch here one day with some co-workers. The décor reminds you of country. The dining area is large with tons of tables. I had a bbq chicken stuffed potato. It was a great deal for the quality. I enjoyed the flavor of the sauce. Unfortunately for Pruetts I wouldn’t drive 45 min to come here when Top O the River is across the street.

Lunch at Pruetts was average at best. They garner a good lunch crowd so they are obviously a popular local bbq spot. The service I received was very good, the server was nice, upbeat and helpful. The atmosphere is laid back, just what you would expect at this type of place. Sadly, the food just did not measure up. I had the combo bbq plate with pulled pork & «beef». The puled pork was fine, nothing exceptional but fine. The beef was tuff and chewy… just not very good. I found Pruetts to be not bad… just not very good.
