I love this place. Quality is consistent & they do a great job of changing up the menu so it’s not boring. Get the Queso Fundido with chorizo– you will not regret it!!!

This place has really gone down hill. My wife and I used to like to eat hear but we haven’t visited this restaurant in sometime. I will admit that the service was good and very fast. But the place was extremely noisy. Conversation was difficult. The taco chips they serve are really good but the salsa is mediocre at best. My wife ordered the enchiladas stuffed with pork and I had the «make your own combo» consisting of a chicken burrito, chicken tamale and chili rellenos. My wife said that her meal was «okay, nothing to write home about» and she said that it was somewhat cold. My meal was not even «okay». First of all, everything was cold. The chicken burrito had absolutely NO flavor. The tamale was so small that I actually ate it in one bite! And it had almost no chicken inside: it was almost all cornmeal. Finally, the rellenos: the chili was not completely cooked and gave the dish an unpleasant raw taste. I am done with El Vaquero.

We love our local El Vaquero. The service is always great, fast and the food is great. A great local Mexican place to go to. Love the new marinated chicken tacos with the green sauce. Always a thumbs up from our family!

I don’t think I have ever had a bad meal here before. It can get a little expensive if you get special drinks etc, but if you keep it to water and entrees you can get out of here for $ 20-​$ 25 for two.

The food and drinks were very good, when we finally got them… after waiting in line for one hour, we got seated, then we were waiting for 20 minutes for our drinks. After another 30 minutes we got to order and our food showed up 30 minutes later. So far we have spent three hours here and are still waiting on the check. The rating would be high if based off the food but the waiter is taking a very long time and is often not to be seen. Don’t know if the are short tonight but the wait is way to long.

Ate here today with a friend of mine and let me just start by saying the menu is too damn big! I like having options, but my goodness. Anyway, I ordered the Chicken Taco Salad with a side of Guacamole and it was delicious. The portion was huge, the chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the guacamole was very yummy. With that being said, I probably wouldn’t eat here often as it honestly tasted like the same Mexican food at other «authentic» Mexican restaurants in town. The food was still good though and it was moderately priced. I spent about $ 13 for my meal. It’s worth a try, but it’s likely it won’t «wow» you.

10 years ago when I went to this El Vaquero location, I said I’d never go back. The food was terrible and the décor was not up to par with Riverside which has been my favorite El Vaq location in town for years. No more.
Gahanna El Vaquero — muy bueno! The food was outstanding, the crowd was humming — and the food was swiftly delivered. They even took my ValPak coupon on a Friday even though it said Mon-​Thurs only. We grabbed dinner there before a movie over at Stoneridge — tremendous choice.

My boyfriend and I go to El Vaquero often, but never this location. We were meeting friends on the East side of town so we tried this one out. We asked our server which dish was his favorite and we ordered four. I have never done a review for all my El V visits but this dish with steak and chicken was delicious. He was right one. The service was great, clean restrooms, and fresh chips. The salsa was on the more mild side at this location than what we are use to, but it was not bad, just a little bland. Overall it was a great visit with a new dish I would have probably never ordered. I took a picture so you can show the pic and say I want this. You won’t be disappointed.

Still here. Food is awful — fajita steak absolutely awful. All fat. Weird green hot sauce that tasted horrendous. What a shame since normally I love you el vaqueros. Will not return nor recommend.
When I informed our server he didn’t understand or he didn’t care…

Went in on a weekday at around 6. This is clearly the place to be! It was packed! There were people sitting outside waiting, sitting inside waiting & even waiting at the bar! We couldn’t even find a parking spot so we had to pull up front so I could run in and place an order to go.
I ordered to go at the bar area. The lady who took my order was extremely pleasant. I had questions on sizing and she went above & beyond to help me choose. She also gave me all the info on their happy hour specials! Who can pass up a jumbo marg for $ 7.50?!
I ordered, paid & had my food in hand all within about 6 minutes. Overall it was a really good experience & I can’t wait to come back & dine in during happy hour!

Decent food, mediocre to poor Customer Service at best. First off, who has a mini candy store at the front of their restaurant, Who? Nobody that’s Who, unless you’re trying be tacky or don’t realize it’s Tacky! Secondly, before we recieved our food, we ended up being thirsty since water was not served inicially. We ended up asking the next waiter, tall older lanky guy with a hairy face, sike! He passed us up after turning in our direction, looking, and ignoring our request with a straight face… Last time I checked, that’s called the «not my problem brush off»! I guess he didn’t like the way we looked, hmmmm.
All in all, the poor Customer Service left a sour taste in our mouth that left a lasting first impression!

Food was good. Prices good. Waited ten minutes at least before the server got our drink order. We’re there for a little over an hour for my birthday and saw him only twice. Waited fifteen minutes for the check after being done with our meal. Heard good things though so thinking maybe the server was just a bad one. Food was good though. Disappointing experience to put it simply.

El Vaq is pretty much my wife’s favorite place to eat. I end up eating hear WAY more often than I like. That being said, it’s always good. The service is always fast, the food’s always hot and they’ve got Dos Equis Amber on draft.
I’ve tried quite a few different things, and here are some of my fav’s in no particular order: Tacos El Pastor, Spinach Enchiladas, Fajita Quesadilla & Enchiladas Suizas. Their chips & salsa is always good as well, it’s hard not to fill up on them first.
Every location of El Vaq is good for tasty, affordable Mexican.

My family and I love coming here. It always has a nice atmosphere and is almost never crowded. I love the free chips and salsa — and I always fill up on those before even getting my meal!
We have never had bad food here, and the service has always been nice. I absolutely love their vegetarian burrito (I don’t remember what it’s called) but it’s filled with mashed potatoes and spinach. paired with refried beans and lettuce, it is THE BEST!
The service here is always friendly, although a bit slow at times. definitely a great place to take the family!

We have Never had bad food here (been here at least a dozen times).
Got to try their Chorizo Queso Fundido! THE BEST!
Their Large Fajitas are huge, hot and filling! Great for 2 people.
Also love their Quesadillas, and Specialty Burritos.
Fantastic Margaritas.
Free chips and GREAT salsa.
Located in Stoneridge plaza in Gahanna. Plenty of room to park.
Inside is always clean.
The Only negative I have. the hosts /​cashier could be a bit more cheery. but. that’s it.

I have visited many times and have always left satisfied! I was a huge fan of Los Jalapenos (which was across the street before it closed), and this is just as good! I’m somewhat boring in terms of what I order, that being fajitas normally, but they always come out smoking hot and with plenty of the fixin’s (guac, pico, sour cream, etc). My better half usually orders tacos and she loves them. There’s nothing quite like a cheapo night at the Stoneridge Cinema (5 bucks I think before 5 pm) and then some Dos Equis along with delicious Mexican only a 2 minute walk away! Check it out, you won’t be disappointed!
