Hey Carly R. I hope you actually read your review before posting it. You obviously have no idea how you sound because you seem to be complaining about people. doing their work? You’re coming off as a Wal-Mart shopper that has never bought anything from a small, independent, family owned store. Maybe if you were looking for«quality», you would’ve gone to the thousand places you could buy a mattress at The Oaks Mall or Mattress Giant or something. Although, I got an amazing quality mattress at Call A Mattress. Did you actually ask them to show you their Serta and Sealy mattresses? Because they had no problem showing them to me. You seem to be presuming an awful lot while not giving a f*** about how much you may be hurting these people. To be fair, the store is small though. Yes, they do have rows of mattresses lining up the walls, but they DO have a bedframe to demonstrate the mattresses on. The worker has to demonstrate them to you by putting each mattress you’re interested in on the bedframe. It is obviously very laborious and heavy, so that may be my only complaint, that these workers are made to demonstrate them in this way which is obviously not good for their back health. The fact that you(Carly) found the service bad when they are lifting/demonstrating these mattresses FOR you, and then standing there while you make your decision to see if they have to lift/demonstrate another one, makes me think that you seriously don’t know exactly how you sound. How selfish do you have to be to seriously overlook all of the hard work that these people are doing? Where did you think you were? A high-end name brand shop with all the thousand dollar bells and whistles? They obviously don’t have much space and are working with what they have. Give them a break, the service is amazing considering what they are working with. The only reason you thought they were«following you around» is probably because they were trying to… DOTHEIRJOB? Just wow. You know how I could tell that your review is bourgeois bs? «But if you hate those kinds of sales games… I suggest you head over to Mattress Town» and then you say«They(Mattress Town) knocked off $ 50 on a Serta pillow-top mattress that I bought and then another $ 50». Hm. Sounds exactly like those kinds of «sales games» you hate… can you say ‘hypocritical?‘ This was my experience: I spent the whole day going around Gainesville trying to find my best deal on a mattress. I’m in college but I still wanted something very soft. Normally, the softer the mattress, the more expensive, and I was already sleeping on the floor. I picked out a mattress at Macys, JCP and Sears but none of those would let me immediately finance their really(600+) expensive prices. I had to wait like ten days to be able to file for a Macys credit card, and it was the same case for the others. The shipping dates for all of these stores were like two weeks away also, so that was two more weeks of sleeping on the floor. My best bet was to go to a real mattress store like the Mattress Firm. I tried them out after but they were still a bit over my budget. Granted, that some of their mattresses fit my budget but they were way too firm and basic. At Mattress Firm, I actually got recommended Call-A-Mattress. They told me that this store was probably better suited for me because they sell EXCELLENT, NEW quality mattresses, but those mattresses were sold to them. He told me that some of them may be lightly used, but that they don’t buy anything that had heavy use or stains or smells or anything weird like that. I decided to give them a chance. I drove on up to the store where I was immediately greeted by one of their associates, I believe his name was Jay. He asked me what I was looking for and I told him my situation. He said he knew the perfect mattress. He took less than a minute to find it and lay it down on the bedframe that they use to demonstrate mattresses. I laid down on it and I immediately felt it just a bit too firm, but heading in the right direction. He knew what I wanted and he found something for around the same price, but softer. I liked that one and it felt perfect, as was the price. I purchased the mattress only, but the set was only about 60 dollars more. He said that I could come back at any point during the first month and purchase the set if I wanted to. When we organized the delivery, they asked me where I lived, I gave them my address and they told me that they could make the delivery that day since I was sleeping on the floor!(I went in relatively late in their hours of operation.) You could imagine my excitement, since all of the other mattress stores I went to had a delivery date of at least a week away. Call-A-Mattress delivered my mattress same day, only $ 15 delivery, and a $ 350AMAZINGSOFTPILLOWTOP. Tremendous service from these people, I give them FIVE well-deserved stars. But a HORRIBLE review for Carly, I give her one star. It’s ok honey, we can’t all be fives.

We needed a custom sized mattress for our toddler bed. We were able to order EXACTLY what we needed for cheaper than it would have been to just buy the raw foam from Joanns. They did a quilted top and seams just like a normal mattress and we’re done in two days! So happy with the result!

Call-A-Mattress was my second stop on my mattress search August 2009. I had also gone to Wayne’s Bedding on 34th and Archer, where I felt everything was a little overpriced. I had never been to Call-A-Mattress before… …and when I walked in, I wish I had just walked out. There were mattresses just stacked up on the walls, when I was expecting mattresses on beds… you know, to test them out properly. The sales people were, to be honest, very nice and helpful, but they are a hard sell. I’ll get back to that later. The way Call-A-Mattress works is you tell them what you want and they just start laying mattresses down on the floor for you to try — without any support or bed frame. Yeah… great way to really test a mattress! Then they just stand over you while you lay there. Very awkward. They pulled down five or six mattresses for me, none of which I could tell if I even liked because they were wrapped in plastic and supported by a tile floor. I should also mention that their prices are very cheap because they make their own brand of mattress. They say they have Serta and Sealy and all those good brands, but it’s just their version of it; you won’t actually find those mattress brands there. They will try to convince you that their brand is just as good as those brands, but you will never be able to tell because you are lying on the floor like an idiot. Anyway, when I finally found one I thought I liked(although I didn’t like it that much), I asked how much. The guy immediately knocked $ 100 off what the plastic said. I wasn’t sure I really wanted it, though, because I still wanted to look around town at other places. He then knocked another $ 50 off and told me he’d give me free delivery. I still wasn’t convinced, because it wasn’t the price that was concerning me but rather the comfort and if I would like it when it was actually on a bed frame. After much deliberation and down-pricing, I decided to leave and check out one more mattress store. They would NOT let me go. The salesman(Z, he called himself) kept trying to knock down the price and tell me I wouldn’t find a better deal(which is true, but it was quality I wanted). To me, this is very bad customer service. I hate feeling trapped and pressured into a decision, especially an expensive one, and I was very upset that they would not let me leave. I didn’t allow them to talk me into it, though, and I finally made it out the door. Just as I’m pulling into reverse, however, another sales associate comes RUNNING out to my car, urging me to roll down my window. He tells me that I can have the mattress(a full-size, so-called top of the line pillow top that was originally 750) for $ 450. Of course, I say no and drive away, but it was annoying that they were STILL trying to get my business when I was very clear in letting them know that I was NOT sure and needed time to make a decision. If you are really in a mattress business to please your customer, you should let them see other things and be absolutely comfortable with their purchase, not just urge them to buy a mattress the first time they see it because you want to make a sale. Overall, if you want an inexpensive, okay-quality mattress, Call-A-Mattress is your place; you will be able to talk them down quite a bit from their price, especially if you act unsure. But if you hate those kinds of sales games and prefer quality over price(or, I should say, quality FOR the price), I suggest you head over to Mattress Town on NW16th and 13th. They knocked off $ 50 on a Serta pillow-top mattress that I bought and then another $ 50 because I didn’t need the bed frame. They didn’t pressure me or follow me around… they just let me lie on everything and take my time and answered all my questions. I also got free same-day delivery. I felt un-pressured and comfortable, plus they were decently priced and had what I wanted. AND I got a really cute Serta sheep stuffed animal(but that wasn’t what sold me) :P
