My 13 year old son frequents this comic book store and loves everything about it! He says that there is not only comic books, but the card games that he likes to collect. Today I had to write a review because the store employees did something amazing sweet for him. We live 1 mile from the store, and being an almost 14 year old boy, he likes to walk there to feel independent. Well, when he got there today he realized that he went too early and the store didn’t open for another hour. Disappointed, he called my husband to pick him up. But when my husband got there the employees had let him in! An hour early! They didn’t have to do that at all. They could have just told him to come back in an hour. But they were very kind and let my son in. Just by that one act of kindness, they will have a customer for life.(If the owners or employees are reading this, thank you, you made my son’s day.)

I used to own a comic shop back in the mid 90’s, and their set up and selection was quite impressive. The staff was friendly and helpful in directing me to the area that held their Walking Dead issues, and even recommended a few story lines that I might enjoy. I’m not sure if they have anything set up to automatically reserve comics that I might buy on a monthly basis, but it’s definitely something they should consider(or inform potential return customers about). I’m not really into any of the nerdy gaming they put on, but I will definitely return. Their store brings back the old memories of mine, and I think they’re doing a great job.

They host a Pokemon night every Friday from 5 – 7PM. They have a great space across from the comic book store that they use for this purpose. They also host other card game tournaments there on other nights. They’ve always been very helpful and friendly to us.

I’ve been in here a few times and every time it’s been either bad or average. The employees aren’t very good at dealing with customers and often have no idea when certain items will be in stock or what certain things are. A few specific examples: When asked about a certain primer(‘white’) the guy behind the counter gestured to the rack and told me that’s all they have, with no mention of when they might get it in or an offer to order it. The next time I went in I ordered an item. They got it in days after the release date, didn’t call me, and when I went in to ask if it was in yet the employee said no. I saw it sitting behind him on the counter. Another time I was purchasing some items and the employee’s cell phone rang. He picked it up and practically yelled at his friend that he was busy with a customer. I would have preferred he just take the call, it was very unprofessional. His phone probably shouldn’t have been sitting out with the ringer on in the first place, but the way he acted only made it worse. There have been a few other times when things were either awkward, weird, or at best neutral. I’ve never had any interaction there that made me want to return. I’d rather drive the 45 minutes to another game store or wait 2 days to buy something on Amazon than come here, typically. They do have game tables which is nice, but they’re across the parking lot in an unmarked shop– entirely defeating the purpose of having game tables. It’s kind of sad because their Fairfax store is alright(still not perfect, but better than this) so I don’t know if there’s just a bad manager or if they don’t know what they’re doing. I love the idea of having a quality game store right by my house, so maybe I’m just bitter than the one we do have kind of sucks. There’s a decent selection of comics and some board games, Tabletop RPGs, and other stuff so if you need something this place is fine but it’s not somewhere I’d want to hang out or visit regularly.

Cool comics store! I’ve stopped in a few times to check things out! When I was a little kid and a teenager — I used to read a lot of comic books — my favorites were: The Avengers, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Spider Man, Captain America, and Thor. The fact that Marvel has released so many cool superhero movies in recent years has also renewed my interest in re-reading a lot of the old story lines. They carry a wide selection of comic books and graphic novels. If they don’t have what you are looking for — ask if they can order it for you.

Holy shit. I came here to pay HeroClix, and I swear to God I haven’t encountered a dirtier, smellier, more degenerate group of people playing what is supposed to be a «nerdy» game in my life. Over half of the venue smoked cigarettes and brought their kids, which just added to the over crowdedness and noise lovel, obviously having them register for the Fear Itself tournament just to hog an extra booster for themselves. They have another store in Fairfax, and since 24 people came to the Fear Itself, instead of capping it at 20 by using the Wizkids Event System like they’re supposed to, they just let in any old trash, and I do mean trash. I wouldn’t have felt comfortable bringing a female companion into this environment. Anyway, their other store had their 20 booster allocated for their tournament, but this store just went ahead and took 4 of them, and because they did that, we all had to wait an extra two hours just short of, to start the tournament and have all of the right booster packs. To cap it off, the judge literally knew the rules like a substitute English teacher in an advanced level math class. It was as if each thing made it the worst HeroClix experience I had ever had, and then more just kept piling on. Stay away, stay far the fuck away.

I hadn’t been inside a comic shop in many years when I found Comics and Gaming in Gainesville during the fall of 2011 so that I could check-out DC’s New 52. The staff is friendly and informative. The store is clean, well-lit, roomy, generously stocked, and smartly arranged. I was a newbie when I first visited in September, but the fun and friendly atmosphere in the shop has keep me coming back.
