Love, love, love this place. Grew up in Hogtown and every time I come home I grab a pie to take home. My friends in south Florida from Chicago I have asked to take a try and even they agree it’s really good! Need to try the new delivery service to get this to me down south! Keep up the great pizza and location hasn’t changed in years. If it ain’t broke it don’t need fixing.

If you like garlic rolls or Chicago-style pizza, this is the place. It is in a ordinary shopping plaza, but don’t let looks deceive you. Inside is pizza heaven. They have a small, but very good, salad bar, daily specials, and the very best Chicago-style pizza I’ve ever had. The garlic rolls are a must-have. They arrive swimming in a basket of buttery goodness. They offer wheat or regular garlic rolls and pizza crust. We’ve found that their wheat is very mild and tasty, unlike at some other places out of town that we have tried. The staff are incredibly attentive and kind, and one of the owners is usually there.

The pizza is a deep dish Chicago style crust. Awesome flavors and fresh tomatoes in the sauce. We also had the chicken parm and the veggie lasagna, both were very good to excellent. Garlic rolls are not to be missed. We have done takeout only, not dine in.

BESTPIZZAINNORTHFLORIDA !!! If I ever get remotely near Gainesville, I make a stop at Leonardo’s Millhopper. Never had a bad meal. Everything on the menu is delicious. The garlic rolls are a great way to start the evening. They are served in garlic butter that keeps you dipping back in for more. Pace yourself, as the pizza is large and thick! It’s Chicago style, so it’s deep dish to perfection. Great place to go with friends to celebrate, or just a simple quiet evening for two! Nice quiet place. Nothing fancy. Either way… Leo’s is the place for pizza !

I am not a fan of deep dish pizza. But I feel it would be unfair to rate this restaurant poor because this is what they are know for. I ordered the big Leo lunch and it was exactly as they described. Instead of the salad I ordered the garlic rolls and they were awesome. I nearly ate all of them myself. It’s self seating. I was served very quickly and the waitress was great. The food was on my table in about 5 minutes. There was a line at lunch time to pay for your food but other than that it was fast service.

Just finished eating a «Big Leo» that I had delivered by doorstep. I must say that it was really good. The deep dish crust was just chewy enough, not crunchy and overbaked, nor was it doughy and nearly raw. In short it was really good. The sauce has a good tomato flavor to it, and was slightly tangy. The sausage was also really good, and of course it was covered in great mozzarella cheese. Was this pizza as good as a deep dish from Satchels? It would be hard to say. I have only had deep dish from Satchels once(the other times they inexplicably run out of the deep dish crust). I can say that the pizza was worth the wait, worth the price, and worth the calories.

If you like deep dish pizza this place is for you. We had a great experience dining here. Stop in and get a Big Leo. Great place, great pizza, good value. Based on other Unilocal reviews, we ordered some garlic rolls to get warmed up with. They are really good. Make sure you get some, even if a few end up coming home with you. We ordered a Big Leo and another medium with all sorts of stuff on it. The pizza was really good. Its deep dish but it’s not a Chicago style pizza. The ingredients aren’t assembled like a Chicago style pizza. The cheese blend is super yummy, the sauce is fantastic, and all the toppings were quality. We had more than a few few slices come home with us. The décor is nothing special. It’s a little outdated and homey. Personally, I prefer it. Its got that hometown pizza joint kinda feel to it. Win. Didn’t do the salad bar but looked really good when we walked in. I wanted to try it but was saving myself for that scrumptious pizza. I wish there were a few more beer selections to choose from. The list is sort of narrow and outdated. The restroom needs help. Lots of help. If you go in there, don’t shake it more than twice and carry your own hand sanitizer. I warned you. Thanks for making it this far. I thank you for your time spent reading my review and hope it has value to you. Do me a favor and click one of the buttons below and tell me what you thought. Thanks again!

Food was pretty good, but the service left something to be desired. Our waitress obviously hated her job and was very aloof. Hopefully the smiling faces wanted for wait staff sign brings in a more upbeat staff or this place is doomed to close.

It’s been some time since I’ve been here but it seems to be the same as it ever was. That can be good and bad. The interior is in desperate need of an update, yet everything is kept as clean as can. The food itself is still incredibly delish! I was in need of a full meal(actually linner) so I opted for the lunch combo. A deep dish slice, salad bar and a beverage. I wasn’t in the mood for a soda so Fredo was kind enough to substitute a few garlic knots.(yay Fredo!) For a small size salad bar it had everything you needed including a choice of three different greens. The slice I chose was broccoli on wheat and it was smothered in cheese. I actually could not finish everything but you can be sure there wasn’t a crumb of that deep dish slice left!

So good. Best deep dish pizza in town. They warn on the menu to allow around 30 minutes for deep dish pizzas. So keep this I mind, it’s not fast but it’s worth the wait. They have great deals too for parties of two or more. They also offer white or wheat on both the rolls and pizza.

Great pizza great roles. I wasn’t a huge fan of the alfredo sauce. They are $$ but i believe it’s worth it. Yummm

Ordered a medium pie a few nights ago after waiting too long to eat and we were starving. While we were waiting for the pizza a woman(owner or manager?) kept yelling at the chef telling him he was using too much cheese and it would put them out of business. Super classy. Got home and started eating it only to find a few long hairs in it. Disgusting. Will not be back.

The absolute best pizza in Gainesville. Servers are all fantastic. Dinner for two special is the best deal in Gainesville, small 3 topping, garlic knots, and a pitcher of beer for under $ 30.

This is one the old pizza place in GNV& local own biz. Good pizza, good service, & clean. It’s expensive but good treat for special occasions.

I’m more of a fan of New York style thin crust pizza than the deep dish version. So clearly that colors my opinion of the pizza here. I thought the pizza was mediocre. The chunks of tomatoes in the sauce was a bit of a turn-off to me. Not bad, just not appealing to me. The location was a little tough to find, tucked back in the strip mall, but otherwise the service was good.

Worst pizza ever. Seriously, of all time. It tasted a bit like Indian food. Indian food in the worst possible way. I choked down ¾ of a slice. Worst moments of this decade. Deserves ZERO stars

I grew up not far from this location, and greatly enjoy that when I go back to grab a slice of the Big Leo and garlic knots that the place looks fairly identical to how it looked a couple decades ago. It’s a relaxed atmosphere with a friendly staff, and most importantly, great pizza. The Big Leo is my personal favorite, but I’ve never had a bad pie here.

The pizza tasted just as good as we remembered from our college days. Let them know if this is your first time eating here and you will get a free serving of their yummy garlic rolls. The place is definitely dated and could use a remodeling to include the bathroom. We love the pizza and would eat here again.
