This location has really good blueberry pancakes. Seriously, the blueberries are sourced well at 13th street location. Could freshen drinks more, but when I layering on the coupons, I really can’t complain.

(Check out my photos) WORSTWORSTWORSTEXPERIENCE I HAVEEVERHAVEATSTEAK ‘n SHAKE. The table was sticky and dirty, even though she let us wait to clean the table. She took our drink and order. THEWAITRESS: We came with a smile on our face and come out with frown face. She didn’t even smile. Her face looked like her cat or dog or green lizard just died. BUT she gave smile, laugh, and talk to another table with a drunk dude, while he drunk, loud, and cursing(I don’t think he has any soap on him to wash his mouthful). Then she was flirting around with her boyfriend at another table. DRINK: I had a Coke and my husband just had water. I don’t know if it’s because my husband only has water or what but she brought him a dirty cup of water with things stick INSIDE the cup. FOOD: I ordered Sriracha burger w/seasoning fries, my husband has double cheese burger w/fries, and a Chicago style hotdog w/fries * All the fries are COLD, OLD, DRY, TASTELESS * BURGER: meat was burned, dry. My cheese was freaking cold like it took straight out from the fridge(at least they put it in the fridge right? «Lucky» me) * BUNS: As I know the buns have to put on stove to warm up before they put the meat and veggie on to make a burger burger. And guess what THEYWERECOLD. Of course, what else should I expect from a fast food store, but I love Steak’n Shake. It always my choice to go for late night snack. However this store is the WORSTWORSTOFTHEMALL

So last night u went out with one of my bugs(mentors) to steak ‘n shake, because that was the only place that was open at 2 am, and he had work at 6 am. the cookie butter shake is delicious; however it’s only a seasonal flavor. the highlight of the meal was actually a biye of my big’s hash browns lol. usually I get a portobello burger and cheese fries, but I was not feeling well that day. still the service was nice, and its a definite go-to place for a late night snack in Gainesville

The food is always good. Skip the drive through if possible otherwise you will be waiting in line for at least 10 minutes. It is supposed to be convenient.

I’ve been here for breakfast and for lunch. The lunch is ok: burger is delicious but fries could be better. Also breakfast is ok with very big portion! Milkshakes are super!

Two stars for at least being open. Looks like a shift change going on. Smells like vomit. Very bad odor. I would not be able to dine in. Nobody up front to seat people and stood there for quite a period of time waiting to place order for take out. Just not very inviting. Not the best Steak and Shake I have been in.

Yeah, its Steak n Shake. The food is what it is. The service however, is utterly horrible. I tried the drive thru hoping it would be faster. Nope. It took 9 minutes for a shake and a BLT. Even worse, the BLT was cold. WTF they were doing in there is beyond me. Management is equally atrocious. When I would go inside the staff move like they have concrete in their shoes. Like their shakes but the service is just too bad to keep going there.

The food is so so. Really no different from eating at a McDonald. Yeah sure there was service but the service just wasn’t all that great and quite rude…

The only reason I would come back is for the shakes. And if I did, I would go through the drive-thru to avoid the awful service inside. Kids seemed untrained and oblivious to the needs of customers. Save yourself the long wait on terrible service and do the drive-thru. Also, pass on the food besides the shakes.

Floors are cleaner than the seating divider wall!!! 2⁄3 of our waters had floaters in them. The waitress was new and in training, and my two teenage daughters and I felt so sorry for her when the man training her came over to «check on her». He was super fake in his attempt to be friendly… to the point we all felt uncomfortable throughout the meal every time he approached our table. I usually like SNS for a change, but I won’t visit this particular location again… if they can’t keep the part we SEE clean, what makes me think the BACK is cleaner? Not cool.

Frisco melts & shakes are the best! Fries & onion rings are decent

It is what it is. Sometimes dead, sometimes packed, sometimes a sensible staff, sometimes not. Had to leave on a Sunday once after waiting 50 min for pancakes and a shake. But the food is at least consistent, and I have lunch here often. Coupons arrive in my mailbox monthly, making it even cheaper to dine here.

I’ve been to 3 Steak n Shake locations over my lifetime, and this is the first time I tried this one. I went through the drive through and the server(teller/helper?) on the intercom was great, very polite. I ordered 3 sliders and fries for $ 3.99 and some specialty shakes since I had a BOGO offer. Once I got home, I opened the bag. The fries are okay, nothing special, in dire need of salt or cheese sauce. The burgers I got were ketchup and onions, frisco and chipotle. I opened the box they were in to discover 3TINY sandwiches(which they usually charge 99cents/piece… how, I don’t know) with their tops all slid off. The buns were cold, extremely thick and dry. The amount of burger on each patty was despicably small. When I bit into the burger, I got 90% starchy bun, 7% topping and 3% meat. It almost looked they took the scratch of regular steakburgers that falls of the side while cooking, and just placed it on the bun. I ate them and hated it the whole time. The sauces were meh. Chipotle was better than the frisco, which is surprising because I’m a frisco melt kind of gal. The shake was decent. I got a mint oreo and my boyfriend got cookies and cream. It was kind of ice-y in texture, which sucked, but the real whipped cream and cherry on top made up for it. I prefer DQs blizzards though. I won’t be coming back any time soon, especially for those sliders. I still can’t believe how small they were and the lack of meat…

As I got to Florida a few weeks ago, I decided to go here with my girl. we were in the mood for a nice juicy burger. This place did not disappoint. Burger was delicious, the staff was amazingly fast and attentive. Price was decent, it was very affordable thats for sure especially with the economy that we are having, im glad theres a place like this to bring the girlfriend and enjoy fine dining ;) Oh yeah, the thick shakes here are one of the best, add extra whipped cream for the win.

If you are looking for a decent burger and clean enviroment this is the place. When so many restaurants were closed today(New Year’s Day) we pulled in here. The minute we walked in, we were seated, the waitress got our menu’s, brought us water and took our order all within minutes. The Manager(Lee Boyer) came around the table several times making sure we had everything we needed and always with a smile on his face. Overall the food was good, the service was pleasant and their prices are super reasonable. It was a delighful experience.

Don’t expect a five star burger here but the burger is good for certain situations — hangover, late night, etc. Food is cheap, place is clean, and the people here are really nice and provide good service. I had the spicy chipotle burger with cheddar. I wouldn’t say it was spicy but definitely hit the spot after a weekend of tailgating.

Burger patties are thin I don’t like the really thin fries they have Service is usually pretty good They did a good job on the construction of the new building, it was a true dive before. But I just can’t stomach Steak N Shake food. Greasy Greasy… I know I know it’s a burger joint. but there’s just something about Steak N Shake and their food… oohhh my stomach Good news is it’s not that expensive. but you walk out feeling not so good.

Unlike the previous reviewer, I have never had a single reason to complain about Steak n Shake. Sure, it’s not fine dining, but it always has seemed a cut above McDonald’s or Taco Bell or their ilk in terms of service and also in terms of the quality of food itself. The chicken sandwiches here I’ve been very impressed with overall, they have some unique sides you’ll not find at just any fast food place, and they’re open 24 hours at both their Archer Road and 13th Street locations. Perhaps not outstanding food, but food nonetheless and their shakes are really good. As for the service, at both Gainesville locations I’ve only had exceptionally friendly, attentive, and polite service. .. now, let me add most times I’ve been at Steak n Shake has in fact been after clubbing when I’ve been tired and hungry and with loud friends and the whole restaurant has been full of likewise rowdy folks. Despite this, the service has still been friendly and prompt. I see nothing, at least in my personal experience, to complain about at all. Also, my boyfriend and I took up a whole booth one time this spring to look over his homework and had drawings and markers spread all over the place at our booth and only ordered milkshakes and the staff didn’t bat an eyelash. Not something with typically do, but it was nice to know they had due empathy for college kids in a college town.

I love Steak N Shake shakes!!! This particular Steak N Shake has been here forever… at least since my brother went to school at UF circa 1995. It only keeps getting better and better, especially with the new remodeling. Passed by Steak N Shake on Thursday during my recent Gainesville visit for a nice afternoon treat. Got a shake for me and one for my boyfriend. Given the nice Steak N Shake Happy Hour, we got 2 large shakes for the price of one! Amazing… and the shakes were to die for :) Best shakes EVER!!!
