This place has one of the most extensive beer lists I’ve seen. They don’t keep hundreds of taps open like a Yardhouse, but they have a great bottle selection with tons of hard to find craft beers and even abbey beers from belgium. They have a small bar food menu, with upscale bar food. Definitely recommend the sausage plate. Good spot to hang out a have a pint with friends.

Come for the craft beer, not the food. Great place to hang out with friends. They have a large communal area in the middle that can accommodate a large party and plenty of seating around. We had some bites after bar hopping around the area, and even while a little tipsy, i didn’t think the food was good. We got the pretzel bites with cheese dip, onion rings, and brat. Cheese dip was disgusting. We just ate the pretzels. Onion rings & brat were good, but not worth raving about. Would come back here just to hang out and grab a beer.

Stopped in for dinner and beer on the way back into the state from a long trip. We found the place using beerfly on . It was the highest rated bar with food in Gainesville. We passed a bar next door covered in american craft beer signs that was dead. It seemed odd until we entered Stubbies. Immediately you could tell that the people there loved the place. It was packed. We had to move into the second room to find a seat. After we sat, we didn’t wait long to be helped by the bartender. He was obviously busy and had no time for nonsense. We could see that and appreciated his efficient manner. The beer selection was very diverse as far as craft and euro beers go. None of that standard, heavily distributed crap that the place next door is probably full of. They had a tap takeover from Bear Republic, a rare selection of styles, and a clear and well written menu that explained the pour sizes and prices. But if the beer was excellent the food was stellar. There was a specials menu that had more than we could order but made us wish we had more room. The regular menu was full of accurately prepared German fare and intriguing oddities that guarantee we’ll be back. If you go to only one bar in Gainesville and also want to eat, look no further. Stubbies should have no trouble staying open for years to come with beer, food, and service like this.

The other reviews have it down pretty solidly. Great drinks, good food. The sausage plates are a steal and the sides are awesome. Except the potato pancakes, which are 100% cheated and pathetic. Buuuut… everything else was solid. Nice, attentive service, too, and willing and happy to give recommendations. Clearly knew the menu inside and out, which could be no easy task. We went for trivia, which starts at 9 but actually means«get here at 9». The crowd had a few clear newbies(us included) and some of the stock-standard absolutely-obnoxious regular players. Yes, you’re here every week, and yes, you have alllll sorts of inside jokes. Cool. Shhhhhhhhhhh. Trivia master was cocky and sarcastic, which is whatever. He won points appearing to have put a ton of work into the questions and accompanying music. Last note is that trivia is strangely run. First, you get two guesses for each question(second guess worth half the points). Second, I’ve never played at a place that checks your answers for each question. It took a pretty long time, accordingly, with each question period being the length of a song. Jury’s still out on hating or loving that. It definitely wasn’t rush and that was really nice, but it also made for a strange social rhythm. Two rounds of 10 questions, plus a bonus round. Bonus round questions were stupidly difficult– questions to which most people couldn’t even fathom a solid guess.

Fab beer, fab people, good food and a great vibe. You can get good beer around the corner at Tall Paul’s but you also have to deal with the obnoxious, frat boy late night crowd. Stubbies is has great brews and great peeps. The atmosphere is chill and it’s easy to become a regular. Occasionally they need more staff to handle overflow — so too few peeps trying to cover too many customers — but that’s a small inconvenience in the grand scheme. The staff, especially once they know your taste, loves to suggest brews to you and they’re free with tastings.

This is yet another one of those places that puts Gainesville on the map. It is so nice to visit establishments in town and feel like you are in a big city or even a European one at that. I visited here and had two drinks and a bowl of microwave popcorn for $ 21 with tax, not including tip. A little excessive. The prices are high, but you are paying for the novelty of the place… As others have noted the beer selection is massive and can sometimes be pretentious. However, a new place has opened next door that some of my friends prefer more, so I guess there is now competition. Many people I have talked to are upset with the sign out front that has the controversial slogan, «No Bud No Miller No Coors.» I actually think it is funny!

Good beer selection, if the waitstaff would take a minute to explain anything to you. We sat at the bar and watched as 4 – 5 staff members walked right past us without acknowledging us. When someone finally stopped, it was«Hey, what do you need?»…Um, okay. We placed our order, which was slammed on the bar as the server quickly shuffled off. It seems everyone waits on all the tables, but when we wanted food and asked another server to order, they actually said«No, I’ll get someone else.» I was not impressed and would much prefer to go next door to House of Beer and just order the sausages as take out.
