Must have eaten half a dozen tacos after the bar one night. Kept downing one after an another as I stood by this Gainsville, FL food cart like a card shark at a blackjack table yellin HITME. Some would argue that I won by getting to eat here but the real winner was the teriyaki beef tacos. Amazing! I loved that the guys running this cart were young dudes with a dream. A dream they were living. And from what I saw, they’re killing it. The evening I had the pleasure of enjoying their unique take on tacos, they were set up outside of Sharab lounge. I’m not sure if this is one of their regular spots but I’d definitely look them up next time I’m in town. Eatcrest out.

Tacos Locos presents itself as a savory food option in an unsavory atmosphere(also known as the drunken downtown scene). Providing a rotating list of food options depending on the night, there is always something that will catch your eyes if the prices do not immediately do so. The Space: The address listed is, I believe, the approximate location they tend to be at in the evenings, but I asked whether they move for special events like game days and the two guys said they have before. The food is stored in a propane-fueled cart and they also bring along with them a table for managing your food once you have bought something, which is nice due to the messy nature of queso fresco. The Food: My visit last night I opted for the steak teriyaki nachos, which came out to a whopping $ 3. For the price alone the stand is worth at least a double-take, but the food is actually pretty solid. I got enough meat for the money and the pico/queso were slathered about generously. Steak was well-seasoned and tender, such that I was not having to gnaw through the chunks. I also got to try their mojo pork in nacho form as well, and it was a touch less appealing to me than the steak. The form suggested it might have been stewing a tad to long, as it was a mushy consistency, but the flavor was there and it packed some heat that I found pleasurable(my friend not so much) I was pleasantly surprised to find that the queso did not come across as cheap or overly processed, nor did the pico de gallo taste store-bought. I would like to think my palate can tell the difference pretty easily, so kudos on fresher ingredients. I do not LOVE the fact that, by nachos, they mean an intentionally over-salted, name-brand chip directly from a bag, topped with their ingredients, but again… price point makes it harder to fault them for cuts like this, as well as the equipment they have to work with on-location. If this somehow changed to include even pre-cooked nachos that had TLC at SOME point in time, it would grant this review an extra star. Tacos are served in sheets of aluminum foil as always and nachos on disposable plates, but the heft of the ingredients makes it nice to have plates for the tacos too if you should need one. They also provide napkins because these things get messy. The Service: Quick and friendly. I suspected they might be snarky from dealing with inebriated people but they were more than happy to engage in small talk while cranking out our food. Final Thoughts: It is late and you are hungry after a night of debauchery: you look at your watch and realize NOTHING is open that you will not absolutely regret the next morning. This place will not leave you with that feeling, it is convenient and the price is outstanding for what you receive. PROTIP: They use Square so no worries about dealing in cash

These tacos are amazing. This taco stand is like a downtown Gainesville INSTITUTION. I don’t think I’ve gone out downtown and NOT ended the night with one of these glorious tacos since the stand opened. You have a few options for delicious post-bar eating downtown, but this place has the nicest people, the fastest service, and amazing food– especially for the price. I don’t even see the point of going anywhere else if the stand is around.

I love their chorizo nachos. I get them every time I go. They also have soft tacos, they usually have pork, chicken and sausage tacos on the menu. My favorite is the sausage. And I love their home made salsa. They take credit cards too! I really like Tacos Locos.

AWESOMEFOODCARTSTAND! Typically can be found downtown on the weekends. They have about 6 different tacos from sausage to chili chicken to pulled pork to chorzio tacos. I had the chili chicken taco for $ 3.50 and it was legit. It can be a little juicy but the flavor is great. I highly recommend trying it out at least once.

Authentic tacos with local ingredients! The pork is amazing(my personal favorite), and all the meat is from local farms… I’m talking about High Springs yall. I suggest adding the fresh pico de gallo, and queso fresca. The chorizo nachos will make ur toes curl, and the meat on stick(a smoked sausage literally on a stick), will satisfy your appetite much better than a snickers will. If you’re lookin for a late night meal that wont make you feel awful in the morning(well, anymore awful than you were already gonna feel), then say«no» to pizza and give these guys a try. You wont regret it.
