This place is the best, awesome people, great local music, friendly peaceful vibe. My home away from home when I can get away from home. There are numerous live acts with big names. The staff are well mannered and treat everyone well wether they wear a suit or robe your treated with common decency and that is the nature of the atmosphere offered. I wish more places were like this.

Came here to see a friend’s band play. The space is really nice– there’s a bar area when you first walk in, a stage area to the left and then two rooms in the back for people to chill. There was this epic jenga game in the back room made out of these pieces of lumber… the game didn’t last long but hey it was fun! The outdoor area in the back is very large. I remember it being a lot smaller when I came here a few years ago when this was called«puerto tagwa» or something like that :) There was a big fire and people playing music, people hooping and playing with poi. As I mentioned in my quick tip, the sangria is delicious! This seems like a very«gainesvillian» place with a lot of locals hanging out. It’s definitely worth a visit for a chill evening.

The Jam is sadly closing soon, but I still think it deserves a review due to its unique nature. This hole in the wall features live music, cheap bear and wine, and even pressed teas and coffees. The inside has a small seating area, a stage for performers, and various images of Bob Marley and the like. The back yard area has a bonfire and a larger stage for full-fledged concerts. This place definitely gives off a hippie feel in the best of ways. My setback? I dislike having to pay cover almost any time there is a concert, even if I just wanted to sit inside and have a beer. This is discouraging when so many bars nearby are free to enter.

The JAM is more than just another bar in Gainesville, FL. They have cultivated a community vibe with their Wednesday night gatherings and JAM sessions. They have also happily hosted many, many great local and regional touring bands. Some of my most favorite nights recently have been had in the amazing backyard at The JAM. Already this year they have teamed up with the local restaurant Flaco’s giving them the ability to serve food every night. The calendar looks promising too. Keep your eye on this gem, live music has found it’s home and it’s The JAM: Gainesville!
