You’ll walk in and feel like you’ve been transported to France. The aroma of the fresh bread hits you immediately and you can’t help but feel like you’ll never buy grocery store preservative-filled package bread again. Maybe even better than the bread is the wine tastings on Saturday! Lots of wines accompanied with cheeses, vegetables, and of course homemade crackers. If you check in on Unilocal, you get a discount as well! Be sure to check out this outstanding local bakery.

One of the best bakeries I’ve encountered. Amazing raspberry croissant that was consistently flakey all the way through. The almond croissant was equally delicious with an apparent amaretto flavoring. I’d get so fat if I worked here.

My gosh this little hidden gem made my day! I recently moved from Connecticut to High Springs and have been driving around Gainesville trying to see all it has to offer when I happened to stumble upon Uppercrust. It was in between breakfast and lunch and I wasn’t sure what I was feeling like or what it had to offer so I took my chances and went to browse. Wow! The selection of yummy choices blew me away. I ended up settling on 3 different sweet croissants and 1 savory rose with ham and goat cheese. That was out of this world and hit the spot! I have been thinking about this place all night since stopping here. My husband is a HUGE croissant fan so I can’t wait to take him back to see and try. They also have homemade breads behind the counter and at some point I plan on trying. I think of this little place as a gourmet bakery. You really feel and Taste the home baked with love and care into every bite! Definitely worth the visit!

Hidden gem in Gainesville. World-class bakery with an incredible wine and cheese selection. This place knows what they’re doing! Selfishly, I’d like to keep this place to myself, but I feel obligated to do my part to share with the local community. Their pastries are all incredible, their sandwiches are stupid good, and their wines and cheeses are top notch yet somehow affordable. If you have any desire to actually taste quality foods, definitely come to Uppercrust

Come here for the bread — it is the most authentic French bread I’ve had in the US. But bring $ 5 cash so you won’t have to charge it. Anything else you see that you want to try, feel free to go for it, if you can afford it; but in order for it to be a trip of value — come for the bread, first.

If you know me, you know that even though I like to eat healthy, my number one vice is bread. Well, uppercrust is bread heaven. I wish they could bottle up the smell of bread, croissants, and pastries baking because it’s probably one of my favorite smells in the world. Uppercrust is a chic little bakery located on the more residential side of Gainesville also known as Millhopper. They focus on Provençal baking and really outdo themselves with the amount of pastries they make and the amount of wines they carry. You should definitely make a trip out of coming here to allow yourself time to peruse through all of the cool trinkets, imported foods, wines, and cheeses. Many of their pastas are very special and straight form Italy so be sure to ask a lot of questions! My pièce de résistance when I come is the apricot croissant. Although I’m not a fan of apricot flavored foods, this one definitely takes the cake. I can eat this flaky little pastry forever. The filling is not too sweet and the pastry is just overall heavenly. I wish that these pastries were a bit lighter and less flaky, but I still enjoy every single fragment. The potato leek rolls, chocolate croissant, and variety of savory roses are some of my favorites as well. A new cool thing about uppercrust is their wine and food tasting every Saturday. They choose a region, choose 8 – 10 wines, and showcase it all for a few hours every weekend. They have an incredible staff of very knowledgeable wine experts(Marjorie, Brennan, and John) who will teach you everything you need to know about each wine. All wines are usually discounted here and so it’s the perfect time to invest! After you have some delicious sips, they also offer a wide array of regional dishes and cheese to try! Marjorie will also be holding some wine seminars at different restaurants around Gainesville with higher end wines, so you should ask about joining her e-mail list! If you’re looking to treat yourself, this is the place to go. For a student budget, it’s a little pricy(be prepared to spend around $ 4 per pastry,) but it is worth it for the quality and happiness you will obtain from each divine delectable. Plus you get 20% off with every Unilocal Check In!

Freshly baked goods daily and most runs out by the afternoon. I wish I frequented this place more often during college. Now I always stop by when passing Gainesville. I usually get the Rosemary bread, butter bread, and croissant of different flavors. Have never been disappointed. Wish I can bring the store home with me!

It smells horrible in here to begin with, the pastries are over priced and when I asked the cashier if they had soy milk or soy creamer for their coffee(too much milk upsets my stomach) she replied with«no, we’re NOT that type of place». Whatever that means, if you have any allergies I’d stay away as they clearly don’t care.

The best croissants outside of Paris and the best Challah as well. Everything is delicious there.

Their pastries and breads are enjoyable. My only complaint is that they use regular flour and eggs for their baked goods instead of organic or farm fresh eggs, respectfully. Being new to Gainesville, this place is as good as it gets… so far, but for the price I expect higher standards for ingredients.

My favorites are their almond croissants, ham & Gruyère rose, and their artichoke tomato onion rose. The roses mentioned are savory and packed with flavor. Their almond croissant is flaky on the outside and soft inside with sweet almond paste. Their breads and baked goods makes me miss Paris. It is difficult not to stop in when I am in Fresh Market. They also have a wine selection, a variety of household items, colorful greeting cards along with some refrigerated food items.

Unbelievably delicious! I got the Chocolate Almond Croissant and it was divine. The layers were so crisp and flaky. Another bonus: they sell the cutest stationary, including Rifle Paper Co. products!

Possibly my favorite bakery in Gainesville! I really appreciate their variety and freshness. Although it is a quite small location, you are greeted by their cute display(and sometimes a very long line). On the sides of the store, they also have a greeting card/stationary selection, which I enjoyed looking at while waiting. I have had their chocolate almond croissant and something along the lines of an walnut rose pastry. Chocolate almond has become my favorite and it’s the second time I’ve ordered it(and I ordered two). Perfect amount of sweetness and balance between filling and pastry! They also taste just as great the next day if you feel like taking one home for later!

this place because is way over hyped, and over priced. If you want to eat some funky bread and sit outside so everyone driving by can see eating it then you’re probably the only reason this place is still around.

I am of French heritage and grew up with French bakeries and French food on a daily basis and they remind me of my childhood. The dessert was the fruit tarte and very delicious. The sandwiches were light in flavor but just right and filling. I cannot wait to go back.

Always saw this place driving by and never entered… I’ve been missing out on some of the best bread in town. The croissants, scones and baguettes are amazing!

Great bread and pastry products. Croissants and chaussons have wonderful layers of flaky crust, crunch on the outside and chewy on the inside. Staff are friendly and helpful. Wine tastings on Saturday! Two thumbs up. Thumbs up: service, variety, quality.

great pastries, but you pay for it! I really don’t think it is worth the money since i am not a pastry person. They do have wines and cheeses which are nice, but they also sponsor Alliance Française de Gainesville, which is a bully group of french people. They should stick with selling their wares to people and not trying to associate with groups. They are very over priced and i really don’t se any extra value. spend your money the way you want!

The perfect patissiere’! I have walked by this establishment several times not knowing what it was. I saw«productions» and just assumed it was some sort of video production company;-) Surprise! All things French and more can be found here. The pastries: so many delightful treats to choose from. I had a choc. mousse in a small choc. rose cup. That one bite was so luscious! The mousse was smooth and silky and it wasn’t over sweet. I also filled my belly w/a mini pear tarte tartin. The crust was spectacular… slightly crunchy and not soggy a bit. The glaze and the pear slices were heaven. I also ordered a rosemary baguette. Sad that I didn’t get to try it. The next day for breakfast, it was hard as a rock. I guess I should know better than to buy fresh bread at the end of the day. All the other goodies: shelves are stocked with pâté’, sauces, dressings, and every other type of jarred foods you can think of. They also have a refrigerated section with all types of cheese, homemade dips and so many other delights that I cannot remember. This is the go to place not only for all your baked goods but to stock your shelves with items that are difficult to find anywhere else. Oh! And the employees are very helpful!
