I found a hidden gem in reupholster shops. Have been there on several occasions with excellent results each time. The craftsmanship is amazing and I appreciate the repairs being fairly priced and ready when they say it will be ready. What I appreciate is they show you a table where there are sizable remnants and you can get an outstanding deal if you like any of those fabrics. To me, a price conscience consumer, this was music to my ears. The first antique chair I had upholstered had fabric from that table. It was exactly what I was looking for. The second time I brought an oversized stuffed chair that was about 60 years old just falling apart… I found the fabric I wanted but what impressed me the most was the attention they took to replace new cushions and strings. The chair was structurally sound but the last upholster was done in the 70s and the style had changed. She suggested redoing in the original style of the chair. Very impressed how it turned out.

I do not normally write negative reviews, but I have to express my disappointment with J & C. The owner, June, was very nice the first time I met her. However, the subsequent times I spoke with her, she was rude. I was working with my designer and she said that she only wanted to speak to my designer in a very rude manner. She got very upset with my designer when she questioned the cost of certain jobs. Her workmanship is excellent, but it comes at a cost. I think she is ridiculously overpriced. I found the same fabric that she was charging me $ 100/yd for for only $ 60/yd online. That is crazy considering how many yards I needed to purchase. Another thing that was frustrating was that she was SO scatter-brained. She was going to pick up my kitchen chairs for re-upholstering but said that she did not have any idea which fabric i asked for. I told her that I gave her the fabric info — which I know she had because she gave me a price on it! Everything took much longer than necessary. I DONOT recommend using her, unless you have tons of cash you want to burn through and you have tons of time to kill following up with her.

I have been using J&C for many years for various upholstery jobs. Their work is outstanding. Every time a piece of furniture or cushion is returned I am always pleased. I would highly recommend this company not only for their quality workmanship but for their genuine personal approach toward customer satisfaction.

I almost hate to say anything about J&C because I feel like they are my little secret. The folks over at J&C do a fantastic job with all sorts of upholstery jobs. We have used them for valances, panels, cornice boxes, etc. I’ll use the fabrication of a cornice box as an example of the work that they do. First off, the construction of the box was very firm and sturdy. More importantly, the application of the fabric was flawless and tight to the box. What put it above and beyond was that we were using a fabric pattern with a bird and they took the time to make sure that the bird was in the same place and symmetrical across the entire piece. I’m sure that even if they had not done this, most people would not have noticed… but with my OCD nature not only was it noticed… but it was highly appreciated. The best part of all of this is that J&C is so reasonably priced. When we were obtaining quotes for the window treatments there were some that were 2 – 5 times more expensive than what J & C asked for and I feel confident that we received better craftsmanship through J&C. Final items to note: J&C will conduct pickup, drop off, and installation at reasonable prices. Also, while they have plenty of fabric that you can purchase through them, they have no problem with you providing your own fabric for your project. All it all, a great place to go whether you need to have curtains made or fix up an old chair.
