Did you ever read«Where the Red Fern Grows» when you were a kid? Don’t worry if you didn’t, it’s a little sad and super preachy. But in the book, the hunter traps raccoons by putting shiny things in a box with a small opening, so that the raccoons will be attracted to the shiny things, reach into the box to grab it… but then their fist will get stuck. They love the shiny things so much that they won’t let go — even when the hunter comes up to them to kill them. Right, like I said, it’s sad and super preachy. But I mention it, because I’ve always felt a connection to these raccoons. I’ve never met a shiny thing I didn’t like… and if that shiny thing involves rhinestones… well…I will grab on for dear life. We had to come to Lakeforest — against our will — but we had a watch that needed to be fixed. Once done, my husband and I decided to wander around… when I spy Mix-Box…a little store that has ALLTHESHINYTHINGSEVER!!! Holy crap. It’s as if the Swarvoski Crystal factory exploded on top of a drag queen pagent in the middle of Vegas!!! ALLTHESHINIES!!! Yes, I went total Raccoon on this store. My husband had to carry me out as I’m throwing money at the cashier as I’m buying ALLTHETHINGS!!! Also, my super BFF is a total raccoon too… so yeah, I forsee lots of packages of glittery rhinestone awesomeness heading her way.
