It’s a throwback experience to simple food and friendly people in an unpretentious, functional but charming space in a small town neighborhood. Regulars come in and start their meals with a handshake, friendly checkin(«how are you, my friend?»), and a few jokes. You come here to just be. Unhurried, uncomplicated. 2 guys walk into a restaurant asking for espresso: no, this is a regular old-fashioned coffee place. The espresso gourmet stuff is at Java Junction around the corner in a historic train station. Here at Olde Town you reconnect with the humane, human experience while enjoying basic and well prepared meals. This guy knows how to make bacon; you’re not going to get greasy, half soggy chewy strips here. Crisp. They’ll ask you how you want your meal prepared and they’ll cook a custom meal. You’ll be happy.

My family and I came to this diner as a last resort… We were on our way to IHOP and the line was crazy long and me being the impatient person that I am, said no we’re not waiting and we left. My boyfriend suggested this place and I was hesitant because I’ve never heard of it!(Even after living here in Gaithersburg for 10 years). We looked up the reviews, and there were a lot of mixed reviews. I was still very hesitant… We gave it a shot. Do not regret it one bit! It was absolutely delicious!!! The portions were good, they cook the food right in front of you. It was great. Only reason why it didn’t get 5 stars was because they don’t do free refills for coffee and they didn’t offer us any water AND it was kind of pricey! Other than that, excellent place to come in and get a quick breakfast!

This is a honest diner serving honest people. It is not the best food, but it is authentic blue collar food. It is the kind of place you go to if you want to see a plumber’s crack at the counter. It is the kind of place you go to if you want to share views about how Obama is a socialist. I would come here during open lunch in high school, inevitably being late for 4th period, effectively skipping 4th period. Oops. I have not come here since my high school days, but I am not a huge fan of diner cuisine. Shout out to Carley M for posting a picture of their menu. Please stay Olde Town Café especially as those high risers by the train tracks are most likely going to attract fast casual businesses on the ground level… We need you to continue to fight the battle and sustain the charm of Olde Town.

I used to eat here often when I worked nearby and lived it! Went vs k today for breakfast and it was just as I remembered; hot, fresh and cooked out in the open. I had eggs, bacon and toast and had them make the bacon super crispy! Everything tastes great and service was also good. Try it out.

I have been coming here for the last 8 years food quality has gone down and prices way up !!! I really like Ali great guy but his wife is very rude doesn’t greet… gives attitudes one time I went there my food was 9.50 I give them a 10 and she doesn’t give me my change so I asked where’s my change she laughed and asked if I wanted $ 0.50 back I said yes its my change I could understand if I was sitting there eating of course I always leave a tip. I didn’t even want to go back ever again then but today. I ordered a sausage egg and cheese omelet with home fries and I really felt like they gave me the crumbs of home fries and it was so little in hard I just wasn’t happy with it at all. I won’t be returning I’m not going back I’ll take a trip to go eat some better food cheaper…

I work nearby, so this is one of the handful of options for me and my coworkers that’s within walking distance of our office. My visits are a bit more sporadic than some of the people that I work with(who apparently go often enough to be on a first name basis with the staff and even some other customers), but I let them drag me along with them from time to time. Is it the best food in the world? Of course not. It’s a diner. The food is better than average, though, and the portions are generous. If you’re looking for decent food that will fill you up without breaking your wallet, this restaurant definitely fits that bill. One thing that I’ve found is that the service quality does appear to vary a bit depending on whether or not they know you. When I’ve gone by myself, it usually takes a bit longer for basically everything than when I go with the aforementioned coworkers who are very much regulars. A lot of places are like that, of course, and I’ve actually given an extra star for places where *I’m* one of the regulars who gets the special treatment. So it would be more than a bit hypocritical of me to take away a star because of it. Still, it is something that I think should be at least mentioned so that people will keep it in mind.

As I sit enjoying my breakfast, thought I would write a review. I would have so the first time I ate here but didn’t get a chance to fully enjoy my meal. You see I came with my friend, her son and my 7 yr old. He ate his food and then decided to eat mine! This happened so fast I only got a chance to take two bites lol. As he gobbled down my food, I saw my friend starring with her mouth open. I promise I feed him, lol. It was early. Anywho now on to my review. Yeah! I really wanted to try the Belgian waffle, the guy sitting next to me that day was moaning as he ate it. I laughed and told him I would try that next time but since I didn’t get the full taste of my last meal, I decided to get the french toast again. All I can say is delicious! From the eggs, to the crispy bacon, to the hot cocoa to the fluffy, buttery french toast. Just delicious! The days you wake up hungry and don’t feel like cooking and want a savory breakfast, this is the place. Oh and come alone lol, you won’t want to talk anyway. hehehe

If you want a decent cheese steak, you have to go to some tiny family diner, where the same guy has been making them for a decade or two. This place is it.

Decent little place for a quick breakfast. I loved that my bacon was super crispy! The potatoes were bland, and not completely hot. Not a restaurant I’d rush back to, but if I were in the area, I’d stop in again.

Good food… We had breakfast — it came out fast and was cooked as requested; however, the service was poor — we weren’t greeted for probably 4 – 5 minutes even though we were sitting at the bar and we hardly were attended to during our meal. The place wasn’t busy(1 table of 4 and a couple other patrons at the bar). Recommended with caution — lots of patience is a must to come with.

It is a convenient location. The food is okay. the place could use a chef ramsey makeover, looks outdated and old, the staff is a little slow. took a while to get our drinks. the homefries have NO seasoning on them and they give you franks red hot, salt and pepper to choose from. clean dishes, clean tables, no real complaints. i had an omlette, it was good, i liked the sausage in it, but cheddar cheese would be better than american. a little pricey for the portion. everyone seemed pleased with their meals in the whole place. all 5 of us.

I have a different view on this place than some of the reviews. I ate breakfast here for the first time last week. I’ve been wanting to check it out since they say«breakfast all day» which I could see from growlers. I had toast and eggs. It came with potatoes that had no flavor at all. The toast had some weird orange-ish butter. There was waaaay too much butter on it. Over medium was over easy. The bathroom has a crude sign that says out of order, but it is apparently in order and the size of a airplane bathroom. The place seems dirty and left me with a bad feeling. Now I understand it’s a historic building in old towne, but it needs work.

Love this place! The prices, food, and service is good. I always order my veggie omelette and love the home fries. The service is always nice, yes they might take a little to get to you but it’s hard to find anywhere in Gaithersburg a place were you don’t have to wait 10 – 20 mins for a table and get over priced breakfast food. This place has a nice mom and pops environment :)

It was a bit funny riding into the«old town,» since it is surrounded by brand new, large apartment complexes. A couple blocks have an old town look, but don’t go to this location if you want to walk around after a meal. My first impression was that the place has a great old diner feel. There is a very long counter and a few tables near the front. I ordered pancakes, eggs(over hard), and coffee. The pancakes were OK. As another reviewer stated, they’re not particularly«fluffy.» The eggs were good. As for the service, it was OK, but I had to ask for coffee a couple times. I was at the counter, and there were only 2 other people there, so I figure it shouldn’t be too much to ask for them to stop by with the pot of coffee at least once. If you’re looking for a good diner experience, this is good.

We are staunch and avowed lovers of the Village Green on 355, but my husband wanted to try something new. Olde Town Café was near is work and he knew that I have a love of the greasy spoon. So, the good: Service was fast The homefries homefries with onions… OMG! The bad: Never got refills on our coffee The portions were small for the price The«fluffy pancakes» weren’t that fluffy Over cooked my over-easy eggs But the place was charming, and we would definitely come back.

I’ve eaten at Olde Towne Café twice, and loved both times. The first time I had a burger and fries. Both were very good. Today, I had an omelette for lunch, and it was delicous! Service at Olde Towne Café is very friendly and fast, and the food is cooked fresh to your order. Olde Towne Café is a old-fashioned lunch counter, attached to a drugstore, and the décor reflects the many decades the restaurant has been open. I like going to a place with that kind of authentic feel. I will definitely be back again and again.

Great breakfast place. I bring the kids on the weekend for a real breakfast. The serving lady remembers my daughter’s order, waffles, which are really good. In fact everything is good. The bathroom is a «trip» though.

Really? I’m the only Unilocaler who goes here? Owned(or at least run) by the same guy for what seems like a century this place is the«letmegetsomeeggsbaconandpotatoes» kind of joint. Cheap. Fast. Good. Quiet. This is where I go because Florida Avenue Grill isn’t in Gaithersburg … and Village Green is «just ok.» PS They also have fresh CCB and Corned Beef Hash if you really have a death wish :)
