I’ve always went to the same dentist. My great-grandma went to him, my grandma went to him, my mom went to him. I had a cousin working in his office for a number of years. When he retired, his son took over, and we all would just visit his son for all of our dental needs. But then I moved far from home. So I would schedule visits whenever I had time at home visiting my family. And my schedule was pretty relaxed because I was a grad student. As I continued to move around, I just stopped going to the dentist, because, really, who has time?! Then I realized it had been 5 years since I visited a dentist. As I am older and wiser now, I came to the conclusion that this was not necessarily a good idea. Nor was it a good idea to use a precious sick or vacation day to drive 4 hours to see my family dentist(not to mention the awkward staying in the guest room at my parents house). I did a little shopping for a dentist, but just couldn’t find one that the internet could convince me was right. So, I did what we did before smartphones, Unilocal and Google and started asking for personal recommendations. My boss very enthusiastically recommended Dr. Wilson. It’s odd for someone to enthusiastically recommend a dentist that isn’t a blood relative or good friend… And yes, my boss HATES going to the dentist… The office is tucked away a stone’s throw from 355 in Gaithersburg in a little farm house. There is plenty of parking and seating in the waiting room. The waiting room is closed off from the actual treatment rooms so you don’t hear whining drills or children for that matter, as you would expect if you’ve ever seen a dentist office portrayed on TV. It’s quiet and comfortable with ample reading material. Upon my first visit, I was dreading it terribly. First off, I’ve never paid for a dentist, so I didn’t know how much I’d have to fork over. And secondly as I hadn’t been to the dentist in 5 years, I didn’t know how bad my teeth really would be. The hygienist and dentist both were very caring and understanding that I just was busy and moving around a lot and couldn’t make time to see a dentist. I didn’t get chastised, nor was there any judgement that I didn’t come in with perfectly clean teeth(there’s going to be SOME plaque after 5 years). They made me very comfortable, went over my X-Rays with me, and even complimented the work my previous dentist had done with my root canal. They explained very thoroughly my trouble spots, and what I can do. They recommended I come back to get some small things done, and were able to accommodate me after work. Here I am after my second visit when I had a bit of work done(I’m still numb, even!), and I have no complaints. Dr. Wilson checked on me regularly throughout the procedures to make sure I didn’t feel pain, I didn’t need to rest and was just OK in general. The office staff is very nice and works with you on insurance and payment, not to mention they give you plenty of notification when your next visit is coming up through a phone call and a text message. All together, I like Dr. Wilson. I definitely don’t dread going to see him and feel like he and his staff really do care about me and my well being. I’ll continue to see him as long as I’m in the area, and would strongly recommend his services to anyone shopping around for a new dentist.
