Awesome job!!! The hairstylist started around 11:00a.m. and finished at 4:00p.m. They were extremely nice and very accommodating. My hair came out just as I wanted, I’ll definitely be back. Thanks again! Happy customer.

While she was doing my hair I notice she used a hair glue to knot the crochet braids that I received. I questioned it she said that’s what she normally does so I continued. When it was done I absolutely loved it it was beautiful. Well today I’m taking it out and in several spots in my head she glued my hair to the crochet weave. I’m very displeased about that. So my advice if you go tell them not to glue the crocheted knot.

Got there at 10 am left at about 6pm. That wasn’t too bad for me as long as my hair is looking right. I had one issue though there were two ladies who braided my hair(Senegalese twist) one did the back the other the top and front. I love them don’t get me wrong I got compliments from the time I walked out the door. But I noticed the front is waaayyyy longer than the back! It’s kind of annoying but I’m scared to cut them down or they might unravel. But anyways my experience was good, I will definitely go back!

This place used to be my favorite when I moved into the area. The first two times were OK. After that it changed to bad customer service. One thing they should know is there are lots of Africans in the area and a customer could easily understand the language they speak. When you walk in no one greets you till you ask a question then they start speaking the togo dialect which I clearly understand. They act like you are bothering them. One of the girls likes to put her hand in my hair and just push it around. My last appiontment, I was sitting for almost 20 minutes whiles they were braiding another workers hair talking and laughing. One of the girls said in the dialect«which of us should start her hair? Another replied«not me and they laughed again. Another said in the same dialect that I have bad hair and no way my hair can be braided for the style I showed to them. All this while I kept quiet. Its appalling when you go to spend money for services yet you get insulted and treated rudely. When my hair was getting braided(small size twist) one of the braiders said they should make it bigger or else its going to take forever… but I was paying for small. I’ve witness customers getting mad and dissatisfied. I only came back here because I couldnt find time to travel to regular stylist. Might go back if its really needed. Their sense of urgency is poor. No customer service. Talking loud over you in their dialect which I don’t mind but it can be minimize. How can you hold my hair and be laughing obviously you are hurting me. I wish the owner can make some rules.

I had to wait a few weeks before I started this review of Uniq Braids because I was so mad when I left about all the things that happened during my appointment I wouldn’t have even been able to come in here and write a cohesive statement. All in all, I will say this, these women are NOT professional. The entire way they handled me as a first time client was rude and not reflective of the fact I chose to come spend my hard earned money in this salon. There are plenty of braiders in the DMV area, and I chose to come here merely out of convenience as I was in the area running other errands but I wish I would have went to PG County or even in DC and received better service and a better outcome at the end. I’ll start with the positive — the salon is in a good location. There is ample street and garage parking. They were able to get me a next day appointment and I did not wait too long(about 30 minutes) after my appointment time before they started. These aren’t perfect things but things I will not take for granted. Now for the negative. My overall complaint would be that they did not once even speak to me. They were speaking French and an African language the entire time I was in the shop, and there were quite a few women working there that were doing nothing but standing around and staring at clients and talking to each other. Not even a flippin’ smile to me even one time. The chair and station they had me sit in was dirty, and there was hair everywhere. The girl that started on my hair was so unprofessional. She kept leaning me over so that my head was up against her belly when she started parting my hair. She did not know what she was doing or where to start on my simple box braids. Even though I arrived with my hair freshly washing and blown dry, she chose to blow it again with the HOTTESTFREAKINGDRYER I have ever felt in my life, so much so that I thought it was going to burn me and I had to push her hand away. She laughed… At one point they had 4 women(2 starting the braids and 2 finishing them) braiding my hair at one time. This was nice because it went by fast, but bad because the second woman who was starting the braids was very rude and kept moving my head which was being jerked by the first girl who was very heavy handed and rough. Imagine two women basically fighting over your head. Not pleasant. Icing on the cake? I had ridiculously large braids in the front(from the second woman) and smaller braids in the back from the first girl. I came in with a clear picture(literally, a picture on my tablet) of what I wanted them to look like. I asked for just 2 or 3 colored braids, and they mixed in a whole bag. I asked them to leave my edges out so they wouldn’t fall out, they didn’t listen. Like I said they wouldn’t even talk to me. When they were finished they all just stood around looking at me and talking to each other, I had to actually ask who should I pay my money to so I can leave… The braids were ugly and I was so pissed I took them out a week later. $ 160 down the drain. In short: I will never return. Very rude. I would stay away if I were you.

Just moved to the area and needed to get my senegalese twist done, I called a few places and decided to go to this one b/c when I called over the phone they said it would take them 6 hours for $ 180. My appointment was at 8 got there at 7:40 and there were 2 braiders in the shop no other clients but me. I seen a few styles in the shop I liked but when I asked about them they could not answer my questions to I stuck with my twist. The stylist sat me in the chair and did not start my hair until 8:20 they were walking around, talking and I was just sitting. Which was annoying. Before they started I told them I want them pretty big they said okay needless to say I had them redo it 2 times and they still did not get it right so I said F it. I also explained to them that after I had my daughter my sides fell out so I wanted the sides done a certain way and with enough hair that they would not be thin, I had to keep correcting them and asking them to add more of my hair. As more people came into the shop the seconded stylist went to work on other people and would come back. After the first 4 hours I realized that there is no way they would be done in 6 hours so I asked her about how much longer b/c I have other things to do. She told another stylist to come help and she took her sweet time stopping to eat and talk– I found this very rude being as though you started my hair late, couldn’t get the size right and lied about the amount of time it would take. The one stylist had an odd way of twisting where she would roll my hair into the wrist which was very uncomfortable and made them very tight thighter than usual. It took 7.5 hours for my hair to be complete I am not happy with the size they are small and I asked for them to be a lot bigger but again they did not seem to understand my request. The shop is very clean. I will be trying a few other shops before returning to this shop.

After watching the salon’s YouTube commercial, I decided to give them a try. I called the shop and scheduled an appointment for Senegalese twists. When I arrived, I was greeted by the stylists that were already working on another client’s hair. My appointment was at 10am and they began my hair around 10:10am. I had two stylists twisting my hair at the same time. The twists were tight but not too tight that I would feel uncomfortable. The small twists took about 5 – 6 hours, which I anticipated. The stylists were chatting, but it wasn’t overbearing or annoying. They were very nice women and did a great job on my hair. I was very pleased with the results. They charge $ 180 for the Senegalese twists but I paid $ 200 to have them smaller and longer, which isn’t bad at all compared to another local shop that was trying to charge me almost $ 280 for the same style. Will definitely come back again, I love my hair!

I was a walk in on a saturday afternoon, I asked for two goddess french braids into a bun. Now goddess braids are suppose to be 10 $ a braid. The lady at the front desk said. 2 braids are 30 $ they are 10 $ a braid after 3 braids, That sounded like complete BS to me. Every other salon charges 10 $ a braid. I really needed my hair done and didnt feel like driving to another salon so I said fine to the price. Surprisingly they took me with little wait(about 5 mins). When I was finished I loved it, I thought it was very cute. Maybe 3 hrs later some of my hair starts to come out of the braid. I brush it down. No problem right the next day it really starts to come out again. I figure I’ll put some more gel on it and tie it down. Two days later again it starts sticking up in the same place. My hair isnt that long on the top but its long enough to stay in a braid. So finally tuesday I call I speak with a lady who says goddess braids only last a week. I told her absolutely not. Goddess Braids lasts 2 – 3 weeks and it hasnt even been a week! its 3 days. She said well your hair was probably short. I told her no it was fine when I left and the lady needs to redo it. She acted like it was a problem and when she heard I was getting irritated she said Ok come back in. I will never come to this place again. They charge salon prices but dont always do salon quality.

I’ve been here three times to get my hair braided and I absolutely love them. They do a great job, and are very reasonably priced. Each time someone different did my hair and each time I was a happy customer. FYI: If you have natural hair I would advise you blow dry and comb out your hair on your own, they(like most people) aren’t used to natural hair and can be a little rough.
