Hired XL to do repairs on a brick sidewalk, steps and landing. Found them very prompt and reliable. They were very good about keeping me informed as the work went along; the project had to be expanded due to the poor condition of the landing underneath the top layer of bricks. Cost was very reasonable, work done very well. Very good about communicating, letting me know when they couldn’t work due to weather. They started promptly and worked, except for weather days, straight through until it was done. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire them again.

My husband called this company six days ago and requested an estimate for a chimney cleaning. We received an email with an appointment scheduled for this morning at 10:00am. My husband called to verify the appointment this morning and was told there was no record of it. Joe stated he would call back after he investigated the problem. Five minutes later, he called and stated there was still no record of it and offered to reschedule. My husband declined, stating that this was not a good start to a new business relationship and hung up.
Since my husband called from his cell phone, Joe found it necessary and texted him stating «whew… dodged one with you» as if we were unreasonable for turning down a new appointment. My husband called back and tried to talk to him as a professional and was cussed out by Joe. He obviously needs to review the CSIA Code of Ethics. He has disregarded pledge #5 that states that he will «conduct himself in a decent, respectful, and professional manner when serving in my capacity as a chimney sweep». Joe’s unfortunate mistake is that he was unprofessional in writing and we have saved his email and text messages.

I had several companies come out to clean my chimney and without fail they do an inspection and recommend some kind of expensive repair. The service person who came from XL was friendly, polite and made no mess at all. He did recommend a repair. He showed me the damage, explained what the possible danger was and gave me an estimate that was reasonable. I will use them from now on.
