A little pricy for a diner, but the food is good, the portions ample, and the place is quiet and friendly.

Just finished my all-you-can-eat walleye. My only complaint is that the fish came out too hot to eat! Tasty walleye, seasoned fries, and coleslaw all for $ 9.99. 4 – 8 every Friday. My go to for lenten fish.

Good service. They keep the coffee coming. Food took a little time, but it was busy. The kid’s breakfast was small, so not good if they’re really hungry. We ordered extra sides to help. I ordered the corned beef hash for almost $ 10.00. The description made it sound homemade, but it was from a can. I ordered some home fries to eat instead. I would expect for the food to be coming from a can, the price would be less. I just wish they were honest about what it really is. If we go back, I will be trying an omelet instead.

More details… I wasn’t going to write one because I thought everything seemed to be covered in other reviews. This place compelled me to add a couple art strokes to this masterpiece. Late October Saturday at 9AM made for a beautiful scenic drive up Sunbury Rd, around, and across the reservoir to Galena. Just 13min from 161 to the Galena stop sign. That’s it, just ahead on the left. A quick loop around the square, and we were front and center at the door. Wow, look at the cool colored glass in the steps. Specials painted on the windows advertised AYCE fish on Fridays for $ 9.99. Patio tables lined the front for better weather outdoor dining. I must wonder if the servers carry your plates down the stairs to you. Don’t let the steps daunt you if you are handicapped. A flat entrance is just 20′ to the right. It’s another dining area that would be great for call ahead group dining. A FREE(1hr) TWC WiFi sticker on the door(it worked). They also accept credit cards. «Good Morning» was a welcome start to this visit. I see 4 specialty coffees, 1 regular, and 1 decaf. My sweetie liked that her tea was served with an extra bag, in anticipation of a refill. It was simple for me. Reviews dictated I must try the Molly’s Benedict, and so must you! My lovely ordered from the special on the chalkboard(Pancake, 2 eggs, meat for $ 9.89). The staff is pleasant, friendly, and helpful to stations not their own. Molly(Chef/Owner) did come out to say«Hi», but I suspect it was only to see my cool credit card( ). The establishment is clean, quaint, and without cliché knick-knack crap on every surface. Nor do they lean to the plastic plants dripping with dust and cobwebs. They do not subscribe to the hoity toity cloth table cloths, and napkins, with fancy plating and drizzle. This is just a well run diner. If you are undaunted by this long review, only you will know that by 9:30am this place was now packed. Plan accordingly. Now the food… I can tell you that we just added this bookmark to our regular rotation of weekend breakfast stops. The Molly’s Benedict was just as described by others. A non overtoasted/hard English muffin(breads bought local), with a perfectly poached egg. This sits atop a warm sliced tomato with flavorful bacon chunks generously sprinkled about. Now cover this with a warm, creamy Hollandaise sauce that makes you eat with a spoon(I did). Fresh sautéed spinach is the topper. Not chopped sprinkles. It comes with a side of potatoes, which are the sliced potato in a hot skillet with some butter and salt. Mmmm. My sweeties special came out on the same plate. She doesn’t like syrup on her eggs, so she ate her scrambled eggs first. I can tell you that that looked like a very generous 2 eggs with cheese. She received patties instead of her links. No problem they were just put on the wrong plate. They brought them out immediately(still hot). The well seasoned sausage is also prepared locally. The eggs probably came from Croton for all I know. That sausage was good. We sampled a taste of the sausage gravy, but found it underwhelming on spice flavor. The pancake was very large(side to side on the plate). Served with warm syrup. What a simple touch that is. The pancake did not blow her away, but neither did it sink to her belly like lead. As we finished up, we both discussed other items we were eager to try. Desserts among them. Yes. Also made by a local. You will definitely see more Check-In’s from us there.

This is one of our go to places on a Friday night. All you can eat fish(walleye, perch or haddock. Depends on what they get), baked potato, slaw, all for only $ 9.99. Top it off w/peanut butter & chocolate cake made by one of the Galena gals, go home, watch some TV and go to bed. That’s our hot Friday night!

First off, it’s a diner. Old school and it’s probably been there for a long time. We happened to be in the area and had heard good things. Having read some reviews, I was looking forward to breakfast. No breakfast after 4pm. Big disappointment. My kid wanted scrambled eggs and they couldn’t make that. My $ 11 burger was ok. Not cooked the way I ordered it(medium), but hand pattied and tasty. The wife’s $ 12BLT was ok, just very thin and nothing to write home about. $ 12 makes you think double decker or texas toast. It was just on 2 slices of plain white thin toast. The bacon was good. Fries were Rally’s style and a hit with my kids. I hear good things about their breakfast, but I didn’t get to have any. One reason to hit up a diner is the reasonable prices. I can think of a lot better spots to spend $ 23 on a burger and blt. I’m not going out of my way for this place.

We’ve been here several times for breakfast, and done«take out» breakfast orders when we don’t have time to sit in the diner and eat. One thing this place is not going to be — FAST. Why? It’s not a fast food joint. It’s not microwave food. It’s good home cooking that takes time, takes patience, and takes a positive attitude. Don’t come here expecting the typical 30 minute in and out service you can get just about anywhere else. Sit down, relax. Talk to your neighbors, get another cup of coffee! You know what you’re getting in a greasy diner right? If you don’t, you probably don’t belong here! Food is fantastic. The cooks really know how to put the home cooking in the food. And if for some reason it isn’t right, they happily take it back and make it right. You can see the cooks, you can see what’s going on. It’s just the way a DINER should be. The staff does the best job possible, and sometimes they could use an extra hand. But they all show kindness in the midst of madness, when shown the level of respect they deserve! I want this small, awesome diner to stay the way it is. Perfect to me!

Stopped in here at lunch-time and I was happy to find out they serve breakfast all day. My husband and I both had biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were good, but the gravy was disappointing. Both were homemade, but sadly, the gravy was very bland. I would not be opposed to coming back, though, and trying something else. The service was very friendly and their prices are pretty good. It’s nice that they have some outdoor seating for those gorgeous days we sometimes get in Ohio.

We stopped here today for the first time. The biscuit and gravy was fantastic as were the home fries. My friend had the Swiss mushroom burger. She loved it. Out of the way for us, but we plan on going back.

Ordered Broasted chicken and it came out not fully cooked. Service was fine up till food came out(maybe server realized she wouldn’t get fat tips from us after serving not fully cooked chicken) but it was slow after that. The check never came so we had to we had to go up to the cash register. Oh, they didn’t even offer discount on our food after serving not fully cooked chicken to me. I am sure it was a unique incident since they seem like there are many regulars but I probably won’t go back.

Stopped here as a turn around point in a bike ride from the Hoover dam(12.6 miles each way and a gorgeous ride). Galena is a cute little town that started as an old mill town and there is about a one block section of «downtown» and that’s where the galena diner is. I ordered the Molly’s Benedict thinking I would eat one muffin and force the other in my friend who«wasn’t hungry». Think eggs Benedict minus Canadian bacon add real bacon and FRESH delicious tomato and spinach. Ohemgee… this was amazing… and I ate the whole dang thing! My none hungry friend ate the fruit bowl which had some yummy deliciously fresh fruit including mango and some interesting melon. The service was fast and friendly… definitely Midwest small town! There were some tables outside but they were full when I was there so we sat inside. Nothing fancy just old school diner and clean… lots of old photos on the walls to check out. I’m looking forward to my next visit!

The best home cookin’ in central Ohio! They are known for their broasted chicken which is mouth watering good! I have learned to like a few other things on the menu just as much though. The Molly’s Benedict is the best eggs Benedict you will ever have! They use crispy applewood bacon instead of your typical Canadian bacon and also include spinach, tomato and a generous portion of hollandaise and seasoning. This is definitely worth stoping in for! The fish and soups and deserts are also homemade and delicious! The pistachio cake or the blueberry-lemon pie! MMMm! Staff are some of the friendliest people you’ll meet.

I’d like to rate this 4 stars for breakfast, which is superb, and 2 stars for dinner. The reason being that the broasted chicken(which they promote as if it’s pure gold atop their limited dinner menu) is simply awful’. I ordered a two-piece breast and thigh dinner. The mashed potatoes/gravy were exceptional but the chicken pieces were small, overcooked(by a mile), and dry –the thigh was inedible. The breast, which one would expect to be dry when delivered in a shade of burnt umber, was marginally better. I finished neither piece, eating half of my wife’s pork tenderloin sandwich featuring a tender, generous portion of meat, breaded and cooked perfectly, which I must say, was incredibly good. Her fries were of the pedestrian, frozen food-service variety. A decent diner should take the time to serve fresh-cut, blanched fries. For breakfast, omelets are great, biscuits and gravy with fried potatoes are top-rate. Most of the dishes that passed me looked scrumptious. Definitely a good breakfast bet. But there are better diner dinners out there. The desserts looked good and appeared home-made. With a little attention to detail and small«tweaks,» The Galena Diner could be solid gold. As it is, it’s gold-plated. If you go, try it for breakfast.

This is one of those times that you(selfishly) don’t want to add another glowing review because people are starting to take notice and people taking notice means crowds: during our visit we overheard 4 different groups indicate that they were there because of the Unilocal reviews. I wanted to go with 4 stars because it’s wayyy out in Galena, but then I realized that part of the reason it is so good is that it’s wayyy out in Galena; if it was in uptown Westerville you’d never be able to get a table. The food is wonderful, the prices fair, and the portions are massive; I’d recommend the ‘build your own burrito’ as this was the best breakfast burrito I’ve had east of the Mississippi River. R really enjoyed the ‘Molly’s Benedict’ and we both noticed that her eggs were perfectly poached. Three varieties of coffee and friendly service in an adorable small town means we’ve found a new breakfast place to take visitors if we want to impress them.

Beautiful sunny spring weather yesterday got me out exploring around Hoover Reservoir brought me into«downtown» Galena. I entered this great homey little small town diner and found a seat at one of the many tables in the main room. The décor here, pure smalltown americana, clean, open and simple. Many of the tables were occupied by locals enjoying coffee and chatter and mix of travelers, fishermen and me. Greeted in good time I took some time to look thru the large breakfast menu and moderate amount of good lunch and dinner choices. My freshly brewed iced tea arrived and I decided on a grilled, blackened fish sandwich with a side of potato salad, one of their chalkboard daily specials. Both were freshly prepared, well portioned and delicious. This fish was spiced perfectly, not overpowering like some I have had prepared as such. Overall this is a friendly litle family run diner that makes it a great stop to top off your tummy at the top of Hoover. Good food, good prices, good times.
