In a nutshell: ** Ceramic urn not provided for remains, as had been promised; ** Obit not published sufficiently in advance to warn the community of the passing of the deceased, as had been promised; ** Grave not prepared(neither dug nor marked) on day of interment, as had been promised; ** Non-functional audiovisual equipment, resulting in failure to play(during the reception after the service) of video tribute presentation about the life of the deceased — evidently no testing of critical equipment before a funeral; ** Non payment of a promised refund for a ruined funeral; and ** Defensive and insensitive treatment of bereaved family. People facing the pain of burying a loved one in the Galesburg area need to be aware of our experience with the Watson Thomas(now known as the Watson) Funeral Home. Unilocal only allows 5,000 characters for a review, so we cannot really provide a detailed description of everything that went wrong during the funeral of our beloved family member. But by sharing an overview of our experiences through Unilocal,we hope to warn others about this funeral home, & to help others keep an eye out for the kinds of things that went wrong with our family’s memorial.

Others in my wife’s family made the arrangements, so I can’t comment on price or level of cooperation. Having had some bad experiences with other funeral homes, I tend to approach them expecting the worst. From the point-of-view of a family member who was present for a visitation and rosary, and the next day transport of the deceased to church for a service and then to the cemetery, I have to say it was all handled professionally and smoothly. I did not leave Galesburg with a sour taste in my mouth, and for me, that is high praise.
