The Plaza is a quaint, diner-esque restaurant in the Galeton Plaza. The last time I ate there was five or more years ago with my late grandfather, so there’s a lot of sentiment with this place. It broke my heart to see it closed, renamed, sold, and then closed again. Finally, I can somewhat relive my memories. I ordered coffee and a chicken cheese steak with everything on it(mushrooms, onions, and mayonnaise). The wait was five minutes tops. The cheese steak looked like I had never seen before; it was not on a hoagie roll and was beautifully charred(diner style). The presentation was what you would expect from a diner restaurant: the main dish garnished with pickle and potato chips. It was flavorful and did not get cold, despite a ten-minute phone call I took. Overall, the chips’ rigidity complimented the cheesiness of the sandwich exceptionally well. For dessert, I ordered a piece of peach crumb pie. The crumbs, to my pleasure, did not taste, or have the texture, of sand. The peaches did taste somewhat like they were from a can, but I dig that kind of stuff, having grown up on canned fruit cocktails. Despite this, the pie was incredible. The atmosphere of The Plaza Café, as I said, is diner-esque. The food looks more efficient than beautiful, but that’s what’s great about it. Definitely would recommend. Wonderfully helpful and attentive staff.

Excellent Broiled Haddock. I ordered the garlic and butter seasoned, and it was delicious. Would definitely order again. Great staff.
