I’ve been going to Taylor’s with my family for over 25 years(since I was a little girl). It’s a great place for all types of dining. They have daily dinner specials or you can grab one of the best fresh burgers with fries you can buy.(Their burgers are always a million times better than any fast food/franchise chain burger.) You can finish off your meal with a piece of one of their many delicious homemade pies or sweet frozen treats. A visit to Taylor’s is always something I look forward to when I come back to town!

And so we journeyed to Taylor’s, a small diner in a small town. There is a menu board as we enter, with meals of the day. Gladly, they’re meals of the day, not yesterday or, heaven help us, last week. We are seated as we wish, our party of three, and a waitress familiar to us brought out drinks without asking, getting 2 of us right on the first try. For the least adventurous of our group she has only to ask which soup, as the remainder of his order doesn’t change. The poor bastard. She chats a bit with the talker of our group, and he does love to talk. He’s not the chattiest of my acquaintances, but he’s top 5, definitely. If only he put that much imagination and energy into his work. Sigh. I have had several of the menu staples here at Taylor’s and have not been disappointed. The price point, quality, and quantity match nearly perfectly, whether you’re getting the lake perch, the swiss steak, the chicken parmesan, or whatever is featured. The soups are pretty damn good, especially if you’re trying to knock the chill out of your bones from working outside. If you’re in Galion and need/want to eat, you won’t go wrong with this one.

I’ve lived in Galion pretty much all of my 18 years on this Earth, and Taylor’s has been around as long as I can remember. There’s a couple other ice cream joints in town, but Taylor’s has to be my favorite First off, their vanilla milkshakes are the absolute best – I loved sharing a large one with my dad when I was little. I also ordered a cotton candy milkshake a couple times which was good as well(at least I thought so back then). Some of my favorite ice creams, either on a waffle cone or in a cup, are wedding cake, cotton candy, and superman(you’re never too old for superman ice cream). They have a lot more things you can order, but I usually stick to the simple stuff; although, I have had their banana splits a couple times which are amazing. One other reviewer mentioned their curly fries. I haven’t had them, but I definitely will next time I’m there and update my review. If you have enough time and are hungry, sit in the back portion of the building and dine in. It’s a nice atmosphere and they have a decent selection of food. It’s been forever since I’ve done this, but I remember the shredded chicken being good. Taylor’s is a great community business. The type of ice cream place you go to with your baseball team and make memories as a kid. My dad knew Taylor personally, and if you get the chance to meet him(the guy with gray hair and big glasses) he’s a wonderful person. I hope Taylor’s stays around for a long time because Galion wouldn’t be the same without it. If you’re ever passing through Galion, Ohio, on a warm summer day then stop by Taylor’s, and get some amazing tasting ice cream!

Curly fries. When you write it, it just doesn’t do them justice. How about this CURLYFRIES! Greasy, awesome, tasty, make you want to stand out in the middle of Main St. and yell to the rooftops — these are the best curly fries on the planet! That’s closer. Now, I was born about a minute and a half from Taylor’s and then moved away from Galion when I was 5. So, I’ve had to live the majority of my life without those curly fries close to me. Which will make just about everything else in my life(children, marriage, grand tour of Europe, Master’s degree) just not quite right. Ok, ok — they are JUST curly fries after all, but they are really darn good. Not health food, mind you, but very tasty and a perfect compliment to a Taylor’s cheeseburger and maybe a cherry coke or a shake. I’m thrilled that Taylor’s is still plugging away after all these years. Many happy returns! **Oh, and there is still a picture of two of my cousins in their TBDBITL uniforms — worth a look for some local color.
