I had a major repair coming up on my AC, and because the unit is old I decided to replace it instead of repair it. I’d had a service contract with Derryberry for a while, but I shopped around to make sure the quotes for the repair and for a new unit were reasonable — they were. So I chose a new unit. Jason and Cory came out today to install it. They were very professional and thorough. They examined all the wiring, the ductwork, etc., and found a few issues with the old system, such as a wire that was coming apart and had probably been shorting out. They replaced the wire and took care of all the other minor issues. I appreciate that they took the time to make sure everything was just so, and also to explain it all to me. Jason went over the thermostat and all its settings with me just as carefully. They also gave me some helpful tips on how to set the vents around my house: I always heard you opened them in spring and closed them in fall. Apparently, you open them in spring and fall, and close them during winter and summer, when temperatures are more extreme, and then your ductwork doesn’t «sweat.» They also came across a bunch of bricks under the house that I hadn’t realized were there. I said I would have to get those out and use them sometime when I had the nerve to squeeze into the crawl space(I’m a little freaked out by small dark places). A little while later, they got all the bricks out and stacked them on my patio for me, which was awesome. And Jason even pulled a few weeds, LOL! The techs who have come out to do my service cleanings have also been great(I think Derek did most of those).
