Had a great time last night with my wife and friends. The service was awesome, the food fantastic. This place never disappoints. Live music last night too. Sax, clarinet and flute… nice and mellow. Having been here numerous times I always know what to expect.

For the 21st anniversary of our first date, my wife and i wanted to revisit Tre Figlio(the strangely misspelled precursor to the now strangely misspelled Assaggio). Unfortunately, despite a reservation, for which we arrived on time, there were no seats. Nearly everyone in the restaurant were still reading their menus, so we were, «invited to enjoy the bar,» i guess for a couple hours while everyone else ate. When we asked what happened to our reservation, the young snot at the desk told us, «everyone has a reservation.» Which begs the questions, «why were their reservations honored but not ours?» and«why were there more reservations than seats?» We will never go back. If the food is run like the front of the house, this place is in trouble. Make a reservation at your own risk.

Assaggio is one of our favorite places. This mother and son team make you feel special from the time you walk in the door. Lovely dinning room and very upscale. Beautiful bar and classy atmosphere. This is how you should be treated when you go out for a «special night». Love going on the weekends, because this place supports local talented piano players and singers. If you don’t fall in love with this place you may need to have your head examined. Pasta dishes are outstanding as well as service. Keep up the amazing work. The bartender makes the best«Comopolitans» on the planet.

Disliked this place very much. Very expensive, terrible menu, bread was stale, singer was off key, waiter was terrible. My husband had the trio. The gnocchi was very good and homemade. But we are not going back. Sorry. I wanted to like it.

Assaggio is one of my favorites in South Jersey. Several fresh pastas and everything else on the menu is excellent. Owner, Mary, is very personable and has a good chef and dining room and bar staff. I recently had a party for 15 and they did a special job at a reasonable price.

One of my favorite restaurants of anywhere. Don’t get to go as often as I like, but always recommend it to everyone. The executive chef has come to our table every visit to check on us also. The food is amazing, fresh, and always has new things on the menu. Service is great too.

My dad and I dined here on a Friday night. We both have Celiac’s(gluten allergy) and Italian food is probably the most difficult cuisine for a person with a gluten allergy. Not only are we severely limited(no bread, pasta, flour, breadcrumbs) but it is difficult to make gluten free pasta taste GOOD. We know that sometimes certain things cannot be modified and we are extremely flexible. We sat at the bar and asked the bartender which dishes could possibly be made gluten free. Normally certain things can be modified and we are usually given a couple of menu items to choose from. We were shocked when the bartender returned and told us the chef could make anything gluten free! Anything??? We were so excited! We had the eggplant rollatini as an app, dad had the veal saltimbocca, and I had the sautéed shrimp with mushrooms, gluten free pasta in a light pesto sauce. It was all so delicious. The chef had clearly made everything from scratch. He even came out to see how we enjoyed everything. We talked about the meal all night. I have never written a review before, but we were so impressed I had to come on here. If the gluten free versions were so incredible, I’m sure the regular dishes are just as delicious. Absolutely cannot wait to dine here again!

This might be one of the hardest reviews I’ve given. Why?, because the people who own and operate the business are so friendly. Very nice people. We were given bread to start off along with minced vegetables and butter. The veggies on the bread were really good. The problem was the bread which was warm on the outside but cool/cold on the inside. Waiting awhile the bread did thaw. We were out for restaurant week and got the three course meal. To start I had the Caesar salad which was good but nothing out of the ordinary. I must say that I had to send it back since it had prosciutto on top which I didn’t expect. The menu didn’t say that it would be there and its really not a typical Caesar salad ingredient. The second course for me was the Halibut and a side of pasta. The Halibut was excellent. The pasta, which I tried because its an italian place, wasn’t that good. My wife had the pork loin which she commented that she had better. The desserts were good. I tried the ricotta cheese cake which was good and also tried the flour less chocolate cake which was good, but slightly cold. One of my only complaints would be the service. Our waitress was good in a semi-formal way. I’m not sure how else to put it. But the person taking the dirty dishes from the table was intrusive. He kind of hovered around the table waiting for us to finish. All in all, it was an good experience, but not enough to say I’m a fan.

I’m surprised that there are so few reviews for a restaurant this good. My group of 7 came for an early dinner right after they opened at 4, without a reservation, and we were seated and had our drink orders taken immediately. I ordered the cappuccino, which came with cinnamon sprinkled on top and a stick of rock candy. For the main course, I ordered the Veal Veneziana, which came with two sides of mashed potatoes and green beans. The mashed potatoes were fluffy and buttery, and the main dish itself was flavorful without being too rich. They were generous with the crab chunks on top of the breaded veal, and the sundried tomatoes balanced out the creaminess quite nicely. The servers were extremely friendly and attentive, keeping our waters and coffees refilled. The atmosphere is cozy and elegant, and would be a great place for a date.

Dined out last night. «Dined» being the correct operative verb. Details of service and greetings throughout the night by chef and owner created an atmosphere that embellished this fabulous meal. Server demonstrated grace under pressure during a busy Wednesday night, pleasant smile never left her face, attention to special requests were handled with ease. Wine and spirit list had surprising depth, while maintaining a reasonable price point. Gnocchi made our top 5 list — lighter than light, simultaneously balancing complex flavors. Every bite of our Lobster and Shrimp were perfect. Succulent and tender, perfectly cooked. Rich sauce of an exquisite consistency. Choose a dessert that we saw being served. Though it appeared to be just ice cream with a hard chocolate shell, it was more than we had hoped. It’s cherry and walnut filled center made it unique, and the temperature at which it was delivered made each bite a delight. I can’t wait to return, perhaps for what the owner described as a Latin Night. It’s a sweet place that is perfect to make yourself a regular in or to use as a special night out.

This was my first visit to Assaggio. I found the atmosphere cozy and intimate. The restaurant was at full capacity, but service was quick and on point. The food was delicious, staff friendly, and menu suprising with seasonal offerings interspersed with traditional italian. I look forward to another visit soon.

Made a reservation for 7:45 on a Saturday night, and were seated immediately. The hostess is friendly and the atmosphere is one of casual elegance. We used to go there when it was Tre Figlio, and the new owners seem very anxious to please. We love the more spacious feel to the dining room since they took down the divider next to the bar. They have live music, which is lovely, and there was a duo playing with electric piano and guitar. Very relaxing, and the music was not over powering.(We could still have a conversation.) It is a nice addition to the meal to make it feel like a special occasion. We shared a salad of tomatoes, mozzarella, and greens, which was delicious. The salads are a la carte, which I find a bit annoying. Would it really cost that much to throw in a house salad with an entrée? I had the stuffed flounder, which was stuffed with sauteed spinach, mozzarella, and shrimp. It had a delicate lemon sauce on top, and it was moist and super yummy. I was only able to eat half! My friend had salmon, and she loved it! We shred a chocolate tortufo(sp?) for dessert which was wonderful. The decaf coffee was fresh and strong. We like this restaurant for it’s intimate atmosphere, great food, and convenience to where we live. Wish it was open on Sundays!

We came to Assaggio on Mother’s day as first timers, and we were pleasantly wowed. I chose Assaggio after reading some positive reviews online. It did not disappoint. The atmosphere was nice and the menu had so many options, it took a very long time for us to order. Everyone raved about their dish, and they were still talking to me about it a week later. The homemade pasta was amazing! We had a large party including small children, no plastic wear for the little ones was the only downfall. Holding in my breath every time the 3 and 4 year olds took a drink from a large goblet style glass. The staff was friendly and efficient, the portions were just big enough. We were even given roses on our way out for Mother’s day. Very sweet. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Restaurant week. The veal was awesome and my girlfriend chicken mushroom dinner was excellent. Only thing was that they ran out of crème brûlée.

Assaggio! is the new incarnation of the former Tre Figlio in Galloway. Different owner, same chef, much different attitude. We had a reservation of 6 for 7:30 on a Saturday night. The first thing boyfriend and I notice is that there is a total of about 3 other cars in the parking lot. Not a good sign during prime weekend dinner hours. We were seated upstairs, where not a single other table was seated for the duration of our 2 and a half hour meal. There was supposed to be live music upstairs that night, but I guess due to the lack of business, there was not. This didn’t really bother me, as some lovely Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin/Michael Buble mix was playing. Also we had our very own bartender, who was fun and entertaining. The service throughout our meal was outstanding. Samantha was pleasant, patient with the adults who had imbibed one-too-many cocktails, and kept water glasses filled. She also paced the meal quite well, giving us time to enjoy cocktails and appetizers before ordering our entrees. She also brought out 2 complimentary appetizers for the table to share. The calamari were perfectly lightly dusted and fried, though they would have benefitted from a little seasoning, perhaps a salt & pepper mixture. The homemade marinari sauce was a warm and tasty complement. I really don’t like sweet marinara sauce/gravy, so this was perfect for my liking. The antipasti platter was slightly disappointing. While the calamari was abundant for a table of 6, the antipasti was decidedly less so. The meats, vegetables, and cheesees were a good quality and variety. Some of us ordered appetizers as entrees, and Assaggio! was happy to accomodate us. I chose the Veal Saltimbocca and boyfriend opted for the Veal Francaise topped with lump crabmeat. We also shared a Caesar Salad with Crispy Proscuitto. Poring over the menu, I noticed there was no section devoted to «sides,» which was very peculiar. More on that later. The salad was excellent. The champagne vinaigrette was homemade and tasty. The proscuitto was flavorful and crispy indeed. The goat cheese was creamy, and the lettuce, though simple mixed greens, was fresh and refreshing. My veal saltimbocca was very, very tasty. The Madeira wine sauce was excellent, and believe you me, I was swirling those veal medallions around that sauce with religious conviction, trying to sop up every last drip-drop of winey goodness. The proscuitto and sage inside was salty and delicious. The mozzarella on top was melty, gooey, and super satisfying. Is anything topped with cheese not satisfying? One problem, and I haven’t quite decided on the magnitude of this particular problem, is that my veal was quite tough. I had a considerable amount of difficulty cutting it, and it was definitely not as tender as it should have been. This seemed to only be the case with my dish, though, as both boyfriend and my stepdad ordered veal dishes which were moist and tender. I was equally impressed with boyfriend’s veal francaise, though he was decidedly less so. His veal was very tender and tasty. The sauce was more buttery than lemon-y, but very juicy and nicely done. The lump crab meat on top was ample and sweet. I’d honestly consider ordering this for myself, as it was one of only a few items on the menu that were not accompanied by pasta. I was unimpressed, however, with the«house» side that was served with everyone’s dinner. A forgettable mish-mash of mashed potatoes, string beans, and some other vegetable I can’t even remember. In my opinion, Assaggio! should add a section of a la carte sides to their menu. People can choose a side they actually want to eat, and they’d benefit from the additional revenue. Nobody had room for dessert, though we all had a round of coffee. The coffee was strong, fresh, and served with an assortment of sweetners, including those sugar crystal stick thingies! I felt everything on the menu was reasonably priced: the proscuitto salad was $ 9, my entrée came in at $ 30, and boyfriend’s was $ 36. This is one of the few Italian restaurants where appetizers are fairly inexpensive as well. I also appreciate that Assaggio! offers«a taste» portions of some of their appetizers and pastas: portions that are roughly half the size and half the price. This is a great idea, especially for the pastas. For those of you familiar with Tre Figlio, some things have changed. The bar area is larger(thank God.) They’ve knocked down the arbitrary and asinine partition between the bar and the dining area(thank God), and the chef seems to have desalinated the food(THANKGOD!!) They’ve kept the Shrimp Antoinette on the menu, but tossed the Lobster Venetian. An Italian restaurant getting 4 stars from me is a huge deal. I can overlook the toughness of my veal, for now, simply because every other aspect of the meal was fantastic. I’m not really big on dining out at an Italian restaurant, but Assaggio! is definitely some place I would return
