The Econo Lodge in Gallup is a great budget place to stay. It’s dog friendly($ 10 pet fee) and the rooms are clean and spacious. The downside is that is a few exits down the highway from the main part of Gallup with the Walmart, food options, etc. The breakfast is mostly cold options like cereal, juice, fruit, tea, oatmeal packets but they do have a waffle maker.

Needed a quick stop during a road trip. Great, professional, clean place. Did not see bugs as mentioned in other posts. Able to get in and out quickly at cheaper cost than mentioned online. Did not try the morning breakfast.

Everything was fine until I woke up to this little guy crawling in my covers. Is that a tick?

Not sure about all the mixed reviews here. We had already stayed at a few Quality Inns on our trip and, although the Econolodge didn’t have a pool and hot tub, it was easily as clean or cleaner than the QIs. The rooms had comfy queen-size beds, a fridge, microwave and cable tv. The bathroom was very spacious and clean. The continental breakfast was good and the staff was friendly. Great bang for the buck as far as my family is concerned. Everything you need for a restful, one-night roadside stay.

It’s a motel, it’s cheap. Unlike the other reviews, the beds were clean, the room smelled fine. It’s old school motel, so it has the loud window air conditioner, which I hate. But, UNLESS you can sleep with noise, DONOT stay here. The soundproofing is horrible. I could hear the person in the room next to me cough. The worst though, was someone was watching television all night, and I could hear it, and it kept me awake even with earplugs! I’d guess because the front desk person was very nice, and it’s cheap, and the place was clean, I’m giving 2 stars. But really, only stay here if you are not a light sleeper.

This hotel definitely needs a renovation. It looks like they updated some things, but it still needs a lot of work. Upon walking in I immediately noticed the odor. So I went to turn on the AC and it was old, so old that I can’t remember the last time I saw an AC like that. The carpet was very worn and it had spots. The lock on the door was the chain locks. When I turned off the lights you could see the lights from the hall through the seams of the doorway. The furniture looks like hand-me downs from various hotels and it’s mixed and matched. I should have stayed in Albuquerque.

I enjoyed my stay here. Front desk lady was nice. Bed was fine. Flat screen tv. Room was clean and nice size.

This place is absolutely horrible!!! Don’t ever book here! The sheets were filthy, the room stank like a dead animal, the toilets barely flushed toilet paper down, and the office staff was not happy to work there. STAYAWAY!!!

Staff was friendly. Beds were not very comfortable. A/c worked nicely. Dim lighting in the bathroom. It was quiet but the hallways smelled like smoke. It was affordable for sure. Given the opportunity again I might book here.

Well, it’s a motel. I’d give it 3.5 stars, anyway. I booked it through Expedia and when I checked in the manager told me that next time I came through to book it directly because I could have saved some money. It’s out on the west end of town on Route 66, well away from downtown but it backs up to the airport. The airport doesn’t have much traffic so that wasn’t a problem and my wife wasn’t even aware it was there until I pointed out the planes to her. Anyway, we had 2 queen beds for 4 of us – it was quiet; no noisy neighbors, and nice enough for an overnighter. It may even have been good for a more extended stay. One thing I like is the security of having the doors to the rooms accessible through an indoor hallway instead of directly to the outdoors. Any strangers coming in must pass by the front desk. The back and side doors require a room key to get in. We had their waffles for breakfast and they were actually pretty good. Coffee, apple and orange juice are also available, as well as a couple kinds of cereal and toast. Basic stuff. No steak and eggs, but basic carbs to get you on your way. The Econo Lodge is a reasonable place to stay if you happen to be in Gallup; not as cheap(and gross) as some, and not as expensive as the ones with an indoor pool and exercise room that I never use, anyway. Friendly service here and a decent room. So, it’s «A-OK» and I really had no complaints. This is my second stay and would consider doing it again.

The outside smells like sewer really bad! I’m hope that is just a temporary thing, hopefully you won’t be affected. Walls are thin, and rooms are cheap. The beds are a bit stiff… But, $ 34.99 and they allow pets? Woooo! Added bonus– waffle maker for b-fast!
