When I called 24 Hour Locksmith, I was told by the representative that the price for coming to my car and cutting a key for my Toyota Tacoma ignition would be $ 125.00 plus labor. I was told that the technician would call 30 minutes prior to our agreed upon time of 3:30PM. When 3:30PM time came and went, I called the representative to receive an update. I was told that the technician had car trouble. However, I was not informed of this detail until I called to inquire about the delay. I waited almost an hour before the technician arrived. Totally unacceptable. When the technician arrived, he informed me that the total charge would be $ 285.00. I expressed my surprise at the amount since the labor charge ended up being $ 160.00. The total time for cutting and programming the key was 15 minutes. Unfortunately, I had little alternative but to pay the technician an hourly rate of $ 620.00 since I had a pressing engagement that could not be broken. Otherwise, I would have elected not to have 24 Hour Locksmith provide their service at such an outrageous amount that can only be considered«highway robbery» based on the circumstances. For a service firm to quote one price on the phone($ 125.00 plus labor) and then have the field technician decide that his labor is worth $ 620.00 per hour is totally unacceptable. Therefore, I recommend that any individuals who may consider having this firm provide locksmith services require that they give you a specific hourly rate rather than their«plus labor» phone proposal that I was given and unfortunately found out the amount rafter their arrival.
