VERY good new pizza truck at my work today! So you know the old adage of «don’t grocery shop when you’re hungry?» Well don’t visit a pizza truck when you are starving either. Or you will be a glutton like me and order TWO pizzas(and no, I’m not sharing). Pizzas all looked awesome, with creative combinations(Steak and Bleu cheese… what???), not to mention the intoxicating smell coming from the truck. I narrowed down my options and get the Firehouse(pepperoni, sausage, carmelized onions, roasted garlic and JALAPEÑOS). So. Good. Spicy goodness that made my lips numb and had a slight sweetness because of the onions. But like I said, I was feeling like eating my weight in pizza because I ordered the Apple Pie Pizza. Because the two needed to be combined, right? Apple pie filling on the crust, with tons of icing. I am pretty sure I just knocked a couple of years of life by eating that, but it was worth it.

Was in Galt tonight at the Food Truck Mania. I tried the Smokin’ Hot Pizza for the first time. The pizza was delicious. It was cooked in a wood fire pizza oven right on the truck. It was made to order and cooked right there, even the pizza dough is fresh and made to order. I will definitely go back to them every time I see them at an event.

They have thin crust personal pizzas. All run about $ 10 each. They were at the sactomofo event at the capital and we decided to try them out. Tried the Italian pizza and it had a balsamic glaze on top that was different. They were good, but I am the type of person that likes a huge amount of toppings, but if thinner is your thing these pizzas would be good for you.

Just had a pizza at the food truck event in Folsom. I ordered the Italian pizza. The balsamic glaze on top made the pizza delicious! All of the flavors worked really well together. I loved the crust too. I definitely would get it again.

This food truck was at the Easter egg hunt event at the Capitol today. The truck gave off an interesting smoky aroma and folks were walking around with delicious looking pizzas. So I thought I would try it out. Big mistake. Not sure if they’re just not used to the big crowds but after waiting well over 15 minutes for my pie, I was told that it was blazing hot so be careful. It may have been hot out of the oven but the pizza dough was still raw underneath the toppings and the cheese not even melted all the way. I tried the big pig and I didn’t like the taste at all. Actually no one in the family did and there went my 10 bucks straight into the garbage. The sauce tastes really funny and reeked of fennel. Unless the fennel taste came from the sausage. I will not try this truck again. Ever. Stick to the other wood fire pizza folks. They par bake their crusts but at least it tastes good and ingredients aren’t raw and undercooked.

We chose Smokin Hot Pizza for a rehearsal dinner party for 50 on February 27, 2015. at our home in Granite Bay after previewing their pizza at Bike Dog Brewery in West Sac in December. The Smokin Hot crew was absolutely awesome from the initial booking and menu selection to the event set-up and service. Everyone that attended raved about quality of the dinner and dessert pies, and an impressive selection of ingredients satisfied all tastes, including a number of vegans who got exactly what they wanted on their pizzas. More than a few guests asked for a pizza to go! Flawless service allowed the families of the bride and groom to relax and mingle with out of town guests and clean-up was simple, since all of the food service activity was outdoors. We could not be more satisfied with the quality of the food and service delivered to our door by Smokin Hot Pizza for our special event.

My family got to try this pizza at a food truck event in Galt over the weekend. My husband ordered a big pig and I got the Patti’s pear, It was super busy at the entire event so I expected a bit of a wait for a pizza I could clearly see was being made from a ball of dough. My husband took our son and walked around the event to entertain him and by the time he got back I was already getting the first pizza! Now let me say I really love some pizza, and this definitely topped a short list of pizzas I’m absolutely crazy about. I know you think a pizza called ‘Patti’s pear’ sounds weird, but seriously don’t even flinch if you get a chance to try this pizza. The crust on both our pizzas was perfectly wood fired, something you just don’t see from oven baked pizzas: crispy but still tender and extremely flavorful. Also these are personal sized pizzas, but they’re huge. I mean I packed away an entire one minus one slice I begrudgingly shared with my husband, but don’t go thinking you are going to receive one of those tiny tea plate sized things you get anywhere else you order a ‘personal’ pizza. I wish I’d had room to eat more, I really wanted to try a few others! I started following them on facebook just to stalk them and eat it again. It’s seriously that good. All in all this was a great experience, I am normally not one to go to a food truck because you never really know how fresh your lunch is going to be. But somehow this tiny truck put all the local pizza kitchens I’ve gone to to shame. Oh and for real, the patti’s pear. I never considered myself into ‘fancy’ or ‘gourmet’ pizzas, I always order a combo style pizza. This pear and prosciutto pizza was so good I wanted to cry rainbows. I’d eat it every day. Every. Single. Day.

This truck along with Chando’s, Squeeze Inn, and Drewski’s came to my workplace today. I’ve already been to Squeeze inn & Chando’s(they have a restaurant on power inn road) before so I decided to try this truck(also because pizza is one of my favorite foods). Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed. Strike 1 — The lady that was taking the orders wasn’t very friendly. I walked up to her and she just looked at me, Strike 2 — I also ordered mac N cheese balls from Drewski’s(which was DELICIOUS by the way) so I stood by that truck for a little while since I ordered there first. They were taking a little while since the line was so long so I went back to this truck & it seemed like my pizza either just came out or was sitting for a few mins but for some reason when I got back to my desk(less than a 1 min walk back) and picked up my first slice the pizza, it wasn’t smokin’ hot. I mean like… not really hot at all. It was somewhat just lukewarm. Not exactly what I would expect from a fresh wood fire cooked pizza. Strike 3 — The bottom of my pizza was burnt. Now I figured hey it happens. Not all pizzas always come out perfect. But when I asked my coworker how she liked her pizza she said she liked it but the bottom of her pizza was burnt. So. That’s 2⁄2 burnt pizzas. Then my boss told me she ordered a dessert pizza from them and had me try a slice. Well this cinnamon dessert pizza definitely had more flavor than the pizza I ordered but it was ALSO burnt at the bottom! I’m not a pizza snob or anything but… The least they could do is not burn the bottom of the pizza right? I definitely won’t be returning to this truck but since they are a small business & my coworker liked her pizza I’ll give them an extra star.
