family & locally owned for 36 years… by the Cassarino family ive lived on the island for 3 years and have passed this a lot… but, never paid attention… always thought it was a seafood processing place [which it is] but, they also sell to the consumer i purchased large shrimp for $ 7 a pound and rock shrimp for the first time at $ 3 a lb — both were fresh. rock shrimp are a lot like crawfish – good…but, not enough meat for my liking. ive been purchasing fresh gulf seafood from katie’s for 3 years — and, when in seabrook from rose’s — who beats ALL for pricing and has been around since i was a child. but, for local galveston shops — in comparison, katie’s has a bigger selection of fresh fish… but, as far as, the shrimp… galveston shrimp co is cheaper [katie’s – 9.50 lb for large] so, you can assume that GSC will be my go to on the island from now on. like katie’s — GSC filet their fresh fish & put all your seafood on ice if needed SUPPORTLOCAL. Clean. Fresh. Most of the fish are still whole. You take home the whole fish or they’ll fillet it for you. Skin, no skin… whatever you like. Friendly. They packed our fish and shrimp on ice for the ride home. We’ve eaten shrimp and bay scallops so far and they were great! We’ll stop in next time we are in town.
