Best Mex and TexMex to come to this location. Friendly, courteous, delicious variety. Great music!

I’m glad I tried this place, despite the other reviews. It’s not a big deal to me that they don’t serve sweet tea. I appreciate that for health reasons. However, each table has a number of sweeteners that you can add to your tea — including sugar. The restaurant is byob, and this is fine with me too. It’s actually cheaper to bring your own and there’s a liquor store literally next store. I’m not sure why this is a problem for people. It’s common in bigger cities, and this restaurant clearly displays it. Now that that’s cleared up, the food was good! I had a supremo, which has chorizo(outstanding), grilled shrimp(nice grill flavor), chicken(well seasoned) and beef(not really steak, tasted like a chuck section of beef), served with queso fresco and house salsa, peppers, onions and some grilled peppers on kabobs. Huge portion, and this was the«for-one» option. It also has a nice, slow rising heat, so be ware if you’re not into spicy. I am and I would order this again. My husband got the combo fajitas. He managed to finish them, but he was stuffed! The pico has jalapeños(like it should), but again, be ware of the heat — they’re not seeded. He put pico and house salsa on his fajitas. He’s a pepper belly and it made him sweat. Reason it’s a 4 star and not higher — the beans were very bland. After having the beans at another local Galveston Tex-Mex place, I was disappointed in these. Not much flavor in the rice either, and it was dried out. The chips were standard, nothing to write home about. Otherwise, I’d bump up the rating. I’ll try them again for the entrees, though. Especially the awesome fajita selection.

I stopped by knowing nothing about this restaurant and ordered fish tacos to go. The restaurant has a large dining area with plenty of tables. The staff is friendly and professional. The order took a while to come out but I understood why once I got it home; the food is beautifully cooked and absolutely delicious! The tacos were grilled flour tortillas with grilled — not fried — fresh fish with pico. Accompaniments were avocado, rice, fabulous pinto beans, and lettuce with more pico. They sent some tortilla chips and salsa, too. If you choose to «eat in» at the restaurant be aware that they do not serve alcoholic drinks but you can BYO.

This place had ok tacos. I will never go there again. Their service sucks, the food is over priced also they don’t serve fountain drink or sweet tea. This is not a good place go to.

Stopped here on our way to moody gardens. We had a group of five people and showed up when it was fairly slow on a Saturday afternoon. The menu is lacking in options and although it wasn’t busy when we arrived, our food took 20 minutes to come out. The food was bland and most meals don’t include a side of rice and beans so you have to pay extra for it. Honestly the service was not great and the food didn’t quite wow me either. I’d pick another place in the area especially if you have kids.

Called in lunch order while on weekend vacation. 2 cheese enchiladas and Fiesta nachos. To go containers were way too hot and melted then leaked in the bag. Usually don’t each much Styrofoam with dinner. Chips were okay, but the hot sauce wasn’t very good. Beans were not good but the rice was okay. Nachos were decent for price. Overall, with so many options available, I definitely suggest a different restaurant.

What happened to Jesse and Sylvia??? The only good servers… The two ladies in the morning really suck. Never smile and act like they don’t want to be there. Got a punch card a few months ago. Says for every $ 20 spent get a punch. We come down every weekend and we come here. When I ask for my punches they only give one. When I show then what it says they still fight me. And the go get a manager who gives me the punches. The service was so GREAT but it sucks now… Please new owner you have great food !! But your two lady servers in the morning are really bad… Bring back Jesse and Sylvia… we are going to find another local place… Maybe we will find Jesse and Sylvia

first time… stopped in for just queso… to go. [it’s one of the things i base my opinion on anyway] it could use a tad more jalapeño in it but, i liked it. it was $ 5.55 for a large… so, im glad it was good. will be back to EAT

We ate here a few times to give them opprtunity for good food. Not really tasty, service spotty. I do not usually give bad reviews but this is one place my family will not go back to. There are too many other Mexican food places.

Their service was ok. I think we were just there on a bad day, the food was not good. My husband ordered the supremo, the shrimp had really no taste! The beef was ok since it was covered in salsa. I ordered the cocktel de camaron, I regret ordering that. It was not what I was expecting it to be. It had shrimp and like pico de gallo on top in a ketchup sauce. It tasted sweet! Not good! We regret going there :(

After reading some of the other reviews we decided to try this restaurant. Everyone seemed to agree the food was great, but the service was so so and I can deal with that. Lucky for us it turned out that both the food and service were fantastic. Our waiter Jesse was fantastic. Very personable with great suggestions on what to order. Wish we had a place like this closer to home. Since they don’t have a liquor license yet you can bring your own which was very nice as well. There is also a liquor store next door which is very convenient. Four thumbs up from us!

Trying another New Mexican restaurant in Galveston. Chips and salsa is typical but the salsa was nice and temperature hot. Got the burrito lo molcas it was a large and tasted ok. Will try this place to determine true rating.

Their camarones enchipotlados was terrific. Sauteed shrimp with chipotle sauce that is spicy enough without drowning out the rest of the flavors. The flan was substantial and delicious. Veggie quesadilla hit the spot but it would have been better had they used fresh mushrooms(a cheap option that goes a long way paired with all the other fresh veggies). Most dishes come with fresh avocados. Friendly staff, nice vibe, reasonable prices, and warm salsa and chips. This is an excellent spot.

After a long day at Moody Garden my mom, my kids and I were hungry. We found Las Molcas on Unilocal and gave it a try. It was easy to find and it wasn’t crowded on the weeknight we stopped in. Silvia was our attentive and very helpful waitress. We would have enjoyed a margarita but there was no liquor license yet. We felt great about our choice after trying some of the salsa. It was spicy and authentic. Sylvia answered our questions and our food arrived quickly. I chose the enchiladas(cheese and chicken). I always feel like the rice and beans are good litmus test at Mexican restaurants and there’s were excellent. My enchiladas were full and and the sauce on top of them was good too. My mom ordered the large burrito with the chipotle sauce. I had a bye and it also was delicious. The steak was tender. We probably would’ve liked a little more cheese on it but it wasn’t a dealbreaker. My daughter ordered soft tacos and they looked delicious. She chose ground beef. It wasn’t greasy at all. The tortillas were fresh and homemade. They had large pieces of fresh grated cheese as well. My son is only five and typically doesn’t eat much Mexican food. He chose this chicken strips. I’m always skeptical of chicken strips at restaurants but these were fabulous! They had a lot of chicken and weren’t overly breaded. His fries were also fresh and high-quality. Next time we are in Galveston I would be happy to stop back in so that my husband could enjoy it as well.

This small restaurant is a one-room establishment with an excellent kitchen backing it. First off, the portions are large. Second, the prices are reasonable for the portions and the quality. The flavors used for the dishes are similar to standard Mexican fare, but different enough to make them new and interesting. I had Chili Relleño, which came with a tomatillo sauce. A companion had wonderful mixed meat and seafood stew served in a bubbling lava rock cauldron. Great presentation and delicious besides. Definitely a place I am coming back to and will recommend to others.

What started off with a bang turned into a fizzle. The excellent staff they had when they first opened has been replaced with drooling zombies. If the service was kicked up a few notches this would be my favorite Mexican Food on the island. We have eaten here several times, and have tried most things on the menu finding them to be very good. The fajitas & rellanos are our favorites — chips & salsa are also good. The issue is the service. The last three times we’ve been in, the server looked as if she was about to die from having to actually wait on us. Once it took 30 minutes to order with only two other couples in the restaurant. The next time we went in, we ordered and she came back 30 minutes later with our food and never even filled up our glasses. Today, I asked for chips and salsa twice, and never got a refill on either. Our waitress all three times was Miriam. We have had other servers on other visits, and none of them seem overly anxious to receive a good tip, or act as if they have ever waited tables in any other establishment. We were in once and the servers hung out together behind the bar talking the entire time. Another visit our waitress disappeared for 15 minutes, then came out of the toilet with plastic gloves, cleaning supplies, and a mop bucket because she had just finished toilet diving. Not overly appetizing. We will not be returning in the immediate future… which is sad because the food is really good.

Tonight was our first time eating at Las Molcas. It is a cute little restaurant with an unassuming façade and interior. Silvia was our incredibly friendly server. All of the staff was helpful and nice. Las Molcas does not have a liquor license yet, but patrons are more than welcome to bring their own beverages. We opted for the bottled Mexican Coke. The menu is extensive and everything is made fresh each morning, including the corn and flour tortillas. The chips and salsa are quite good. We also tried the green sauce, which is spicy with a wonderful flavor. The queso is mild. My husband had El Supremo– he says it is very filling. He couldn’t finish it… an uncommon occurrence. I had the Beef Fajita Chile Relleno, and I shouldn’t have finished it! We spent $ 40 on 3 bottles of Mexican Coke, queso app, and two entrees. Excellent value. We probably would not have stopped in if it were not for the Unilocal reviews, but we are so glad we did, and think you should, too.

I discovered this hidden gem using Unilocal… I’d driven past it hundreds of times without even noticing it. The guacamole was very creamy, not too many onions(which I approve of). The chips seemed commercial, but good. I’m a sucker for mole sauce… Spicy, rich, chocolaty… So I ordered chicken mole. Great! It came with fluffy rice and homemade tortillas and I had leftovers to take home. A chocolate flan cake was pretty good, too. Chocolate cake with a layer of flan on top. Also had leftovers of that. Great hidden gem of a restaurant!
