This was an unexpected gem in a sea of tourist focused businesses. I just stopped in to get some crackers for some jumbo lump crab meat I’d picked up at a fish market, but was fascinated by the place. To the left of the front door there’s a hot food area. I ordered the chile relleno dinner to go. It was delicious. In fact, it was so good that on the way out of town the next day, I came back and got another, along with a wonderful beef fajita burrito with sour cream and avocado. Their green salsa was outstanding — and hot! Even while waiting on my order, I saw a order of Caldo come out, and wished I’d added it to the order. Maybe next time… Even the panhandler outside was interesting. He asked if I could spare 75 cents. I asked him what for, and he pointed to his bucket and net and twine and said he wanted to buy a chicken leg to use for bait to go crabbing. :). Nice.
