Came to Galveston for a conference and stopped in to the Mosquito café with a colleague for breakfast. Really liked it. The food came a little slow but was great. I have their Lox and Bagel breakfast. The salmon was great. Perfect little neighborhood café.

Food was good. Kids liked the Mac and cheese with 3 cheeses. Fish was tasty, and we tried the pecan crusted Brie which was yummy too. Ended with a slice of lemonade cake– very sweet. Pricier than expected but nice place!

We had three great meals. My green chili hamburger was tasty and juicy,. I was very happy. As for the kids’ meals… The banana, honey, peanut butter sandwich was huge and yummy. The chicken strips, well that was a bit smaller portioned and plain looking despite the fact they did taste great… The plainness and small portions of the plated chicken with the chips put off my son so… This is why they lost a star. Next time please make them appear to be the same amount of food compared to the kid’s sandwich so one kid won’t feel cheated. Plus put some condiments on the side. The added color would do wonders. Beyond that, great service, nice ambiance, kind staff, great food. I know, I know… Petty thing about adding condiments to the chicken strips but seriously… I know most kids respond to color. Seriously a side of ketchup can change attitudes fast.

Never ate there, never will. We walked in today after reading positive reviews, with my dog. He is a service dog in training and was visibly wearing his vest. We were asked to leave. I explained that he was a service dog and while we could go to another restaurant were they sure? «No dogs allowed.» We calmly left. I will not return(even without the dog) because of their poor service.

This is one of my favorite places on the island. The food is good/sanitary, prices are reasonable, and the service is good/appropriate for the type of establishment that it is(order at register, get number, food brought to you). Weekday lunch and brunch on weekends can get very crowded. I recommend going early or at off-peak times to get a good table. They have outdoor seating with coolers for the summer and good happy hour specials during the week. They are also generally not crowded during weekday evenings.

This is the second time we’ve visited the café. My hubby had the chicken salad with Thai noodles, my son and I had the chicken Alfredo. The staff were polite and friendly. We didn’t feel rushed or under dressed coming from the beach to eat. The food was hot and tasted amazing! Definitely one of my favorite places on he island!

We found this place on Unilocal and it smelled great as we walked in. We were excited to try somewhere new and ordered two meals and a child’s plate. We couldn’t even eat two of the three meals served at our table. The baby couldn’t eat the hard, chewy, undercooked pasta on the child’s menu. He refused it and normally eats pasta regularly. I ordered the mahi mahi lunch special and it was more like chicken jerky than the delectable fish it is supposed to be served as! Completely dried out. I ordered the pasta potao salad as a side(I love both, so I thought win, win) it was super sweet and dripping in mayo. Yuck! This whole meal was so disgusting! We’ll never be back!

I discovered this place on Unilocal last year when I was visiting Galveston. It had good reviews so I stopped by. I liked it so much that I make a point to stop by at least once any time I’m in town. It is amazing. The atmosphere and staff are wonderful. The food has been great each time I’ve been there. I’ve recommended it to several friends who live near there or visit Galveston a lot and all of them have told me they loved it. Can’t wait for my next trip to the coast so I can eat lunch there!

I’ve wanted to love eating here since it was right around the corner from my house. I just haven’t been able to find anything on the menu that is as amazing as some people rave. The staff is always pleasant, even when it is crowded on the weekends. Parking can be tricky, but that’s to be expected in that area. The ambiance is adorable. The food is just«alright.»

Always on my list of stops when I’m on the island! Fresh food, great location! Decided to stop in for an early lunch last week and as always, amazing. The parking can be a mess– there is a small lot and street parking, so make the block a few times. Sometimes there can be a short line, but worth the wait. The specials are on the chalkboard and there are menus to browse while you wait. Then you get closer and see all the deserts in the case and get even more excited! I always start with a(large) slice of the Lemonade Dream Cake– made fresh across the street at Patty Cakes! Order at the counter and then they bring the food out to you. For lunch this last visit, hubby and I split the Chick Stack — had salad and he had chips for the sides(when you split they let you each choose a side). The Chick Stack was delicious– fresh grilled chicken, with goat cheese spread, oven roasted tomatoes, red leaf lettuce, and garlic-herb mayo. Splitting was a good idea because the sandwich was large! They have tea brewing inside, a few beer & wine options too. Food arrives fast– inside and outside seating(beware of birds /bird poop). Large tables are reserved for large groups. The service and the staff are excellent! Come to the Mosquito Café and get bit!

Visiting 4 years after 1st time here and also with my dad. Came by at 11:30 which was after the breakfast crowd and before lunch rush. I had the island slammer Mt dad had the southwest chili burger. The slammer was OK, filling but not something I would recommend. The burger was good and enjoyed the spicy mayo was just enough to give it a good flavor and my dad would recommend this.

Really good food! We are visiting from DFW and decided to sneak away from our party for a late lunch. The shrimp, noodles, and salad were light and paired perfectly! I wish we lived closer– I would be eating here weekly for that meal alone. The Mac and cheese was delish… And super rich, so be prepared! This portion of Mac was still too much for 3 of us. Lol. A small side of this would be plenty. Hubby also got the wrap and loved it. You know your in good hands when the girl taking your order asks you how strong you’d like your Mimosa… Lol. Good lunch– will be back next time for the breakfast Benny!

Okay came here for the first time based on my coworker’s immense love for this place. I must say it is a cute little place! Parking is a little difficult to find, place gets packed during lunch, and can be a little noisy. We came right before the lunch rush; the food came out maybe 10 – 15 minutes after ordering but the alcohol was served right there and then. Anyways, the food was great. I got the fish de jour — which is a lemon marinated Mahi Mahi with feta and came with 2 sides. I got the house salad with champagne vinaigrette and the potato salad with macaroni as my 2 sides. The house salad and vinaigrette was great, the potato macaroni salad was okay, and the mahi mahi was great just VERY salty. My other coworker got the BLT with chips. It has a thick cut bacon. yum lol. And my other coworker had the shrimp cake sliders which she loved! With chips as well. They make the chips and bread here themselves which is great and delicious. We also got the chocolate cake and lemon square. Chocolate cake was very rich. Lemon square was good. Service is great. The manager and workers come around frequently to make sure the food is as expected and their service is as expected. Atmosphere is very cute. Indoor and outdoor seating. There’s a cute upstairs balcony outside so I can see how it’s cute for a little date.

I wasn’t super happy with the portion of shrimp on my shrimp and grits. Three tiny shrimp for 16.99 seems a bit out of the norm. My feta and spinach scone was really tasty.

Bumped into this hidden gem in the East End side of Galveston. Super cute building! Staff is wonderful! I came in for Sunday brunch, sat out in the patio and it caught my eye that the staff wasn’t only being helpful to the customers but also the customers pets. Thought that was really nice of the staff. Food was delicious! I ordered the Breakfast Bowl with a side of Cheesy Grits. Ate it all, to the last bite! Will definitely come back for brunch here.

My family and I(4 of us) stopped here for dinner on Saturday, March 5th. We arrived to the restaurant about 8:30pm and saw that it closes at 9:00pm. After reviewing the menu for a bit, we placed our order then sat down. My wife and son split the Steak Sandwich which consisted of a grilled filet mignon, served with fresh tomato, red onions, and red leaf lettuce on a french baguette and chipotle sauce on the side. The both said it was very tasty and the filet was very tender. Our daughter had the BLT, which was hickory smoked peppered bacon with swiss, oven roasted tomatoes, red leaf lettuce, and garlic-herb mayo on a toasted croissant. The fact that she finished the entire sandwich made me a believer that it was very good, because she can be a picky eater. I had the Grilled Shrimp Tacos which came 2 to the order. The tacos were made up of grilled shrimp stuffed in flour tortillas with mixed greens, chipotle sauce, fresh pico de gallo, homemade salsa, served with brown rice and black beans or your choice of a side. I went with the black beans and rice, and was a little disappointed in the temperature of the beans. They were luke warm and this could have been due to the fact that the restaurant was closing in less than a half an hour. The shrimp were cooked perfectly! Not overdone as some places tend to cook their shrimp. The Chipotle Sauce was delicious! Just the right amount of spice to let you know it was there. For dessert, my wife and son split the Peach Cobbler which was served piping hot and was fantastic! Not too sweet, but just the right amount of sugar and sweetness to it. Our daughter had a Maple Glazed Cookie which was very good(she REALLY enjoyed it), and I had the Spiced Zucchini Cake with a butter cream frosting. That was VERYGOOD! Mosquito Café came highly recommended by friends from our Foodie group. It was very good, I would return here again.
